Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

The heart rate request has received plenty of support from end users, yet this is still under a extremely long review process? All we hear about is the new fit bit iconic. What about every other model we supported? Can we have a upgrade that supports the requested features or not...the under review seems like an excuse to not say yes or no?

👇👇

Also how long does it take to increase the 10 person per challenge limit...it can't be that hard the unintented pre release worked and the response from customers were mainly positive. I have three Fitbits, but this may be the last purchase/support, since fitbit  continues to keep available upgrade options in the "under review status forever", which tells customers reads between the lines and go spend money on the newest product, we don't support the previous models smh. 👎

I originally posted this comment as soon as I received my Ionic back at the start of October. I previously had owned a Polar watch, non GPS, that I bought many years ago, and with the chest strap it gave an effective HR monitor/noise. So I have to say that I was puzzled/disappointed when many years after the Polar, the nw Ionic didn’t have some sort of HR monitor.

Can I ask you to explain what you mean by “the 10 person per challenge limit”. I don’t understand this, and I haven’t seen any other comments about it.

The Ionic has no better HR notification than any other models. It's not
that they're trying to force users to upgrade, the fact is they just don't
seem to get it.

Thanks for the information and the app title. I will have a look at the app, but I will still be chasing it with FitBit to get this feature added into the software.

I’m in the medical category and would like notifications when heart rate is too high and to not cause damage to my heart. My resting heart rate is 70 and was 114 often. Monitoring outside of looking at the display would be nice. Thanks for considering.

As an avid cyclist with our local bicycling club as well as a physician, I am strongly in favor of this update to Fitbit devices: having an alarm when the user's heart rate goes too high or too low would represent a tremendous step forward in safety features for such devices. Exercise-induced arrhythmias can be, at best, potentially dangerous, and, at worst, deadly. For one example, during a ride last year one of my fellow bicyclists noticed on his GPS device that his heart rate > 200 bpm. I took his pulse, noted the irregularity, and diagnosed atrial fibrillation, which was confirmed in the local emergency room. Quick attention and treatment prevented any complications, and now he is back to normal. I highly recommend this addition to the Fitbit capabilities.

Would help monitor panic attacks and anxiety too

As a user coming from a Garmin Fitness tracker this is an absolutely needed feature. Now that I know this feature is not here and I don't see any Rumblings of it coming anytime soon I will likely return my Fitbit  because of this and the notifications are kind of off but the biggest issue is this.

I just started using the Ionic. I would like to have the ability to set a heart rate alert. Also, I use Spotify for music, so that would be a good addition.

This would be an amazing feature and I would be so grateful!

The support for this update is huge, athletes who want to push themselves into the right cardio zone and hold the pace, active but careful victims of minor diseases and people like me who are concerned that they could be pushing themselves too hard as they get older.
It can't be difficult to make this upgrade, if Fitbit can't do it l know programmers who would be happy to write the instructions up, but it would be far better if the manufacturer took this on.
Have a good New Year everyone, from an ex athlete of 67 who trains 12 hours a week and needs to watch his HR.

Seeing as there is not much progress with this I am going to return my Fitbit ionic and go back to Garmin.

A heart rate alarm is a no brainer. Just received your project for Christmas and I am stunned it doesn't have this simple feature.

Hi commenters, this Feature Suggestion is still under consideration by Fitbit  although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment. Please do continue to vote for this feature suggestion whilst it’s under consideration.

I also wanted to let you know that this Feature Suggestion has been developed by various third party developers, and can be downloaded from the Fitbit App Gallery available on Fitbit Smartwatches. You’ll find them by selecting your connected Smartwatch (such as Fitbit Ionic) in the Fitbit app, then choosing the ‘Apps’ tile and toggling to ‘All Apps’ at the top of the screen. You can then explore third party apps by category and choose your favorite of the relevant options available. Happy exploring!

Please also note that Fitbit Ionic does show you progress toward your maximum heart rate on an indicator next to the number of beats per minute, during exercise. You can read more about this in this help article.

I have seen many interesting comments from pertaining to this. Many customers, including myself want these feature. I am not sure if you or anyone from Fitbit are actually taking the time out to read the comments and feedback, but one can imagine after over 3,000 votes this feature should have been enacted. I can't imagine the cost being too much more because it only requires a software update. Garmin and Polar I have learned recently has this feature.  Please read the comments and feedback in regards to this feature.  Customers and users are at the point where many are frustrated, many are jumping ship to Garmin, and many can't believe this feature hasn't been implemented yet. Can you forward the suggestion and article that I wrote to the owners of Fitbit and Engineers. I honestly feel that where there is a strong will or desire, there is a way.  If I was a fitbit owner or engineer, and I saw that almost 4,000 people have voted for and want this feature I would get it done. That's almost 4,000 customers screaming WE WANT THIS, but it seems nobody is paying attention to the voices on the ground.
Thanks,

I followed your instructions and looked for an app that would enhance the
built-in HR monitoring, but was unable to find anything. What is this app
called?

I haven’t been able to find anything either. It’s super disappointing. I had a $20 tracker from Walmart that had this feature.

What is wrong with these people? They're all on the sales-prevention team,
I guess. I have been a loyal customer, but they will lose my business soon.
If not for the fact that I like my Android phone, I would have switched to
the Apple watch a long time ago.
