Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

I'm painfully missing a zones alert feature! I'm doing a lot of running and this feature would make my training so much easier!

This would be great as well as an alert for when you are actually walking in the calorie burning rate and when you are no longer in that state.

This has been released as a third party app on the ionic

I love that this idea is under consideration. However, I would hope to add to the update. Is it possible to create an immediate text alert link when a heart rate enters a danger zone? Assuming that the wearer can set the perimeters of the peak zones, of course.

My request comes due to a condition my god-daughter has, Dravet Syndrome. It is a catastrophic seizure disorder, it's progressive, and extremely life threatening. One of the symptoms of seizures, is an effected heart rate and also an effected O2 level. If my god-daughter were able to wear a FitBit that sends a text alert to her mothers' phone letting them know when her heart rate is outside of normal levels, this would absolutely change their lives! It could potentially save not only her life, but the lives of millions of others affected by seizure disorders on a daily basis. Dravet Syndrome is a horrible condition that, in many cases, results in the death of the child affected, or at the very least impacted cognitive development.

An app like this would have a significant affect on millions of lives and wouldn't require much more than what is already being proposed and considered. Please help out these families. Millions of them are already going through enough, hopefully FitBit can give back a little bit and make their lives a little easier.

Thank you for your consideration.

This was first suggested on December 11, 2014. Today is March 20, 2018.

Fitbit has made it 1,000% clear that this feature will never be implemented in any way, shape or form by them.

This is a must have feature and should be basic. I recently switched to Fitbit ionic after using Garmin or Polar for years. If they don’t add this feature pretty soon I’ll be switching back.

Dear Fitbit team,

I urge you to implement this feature. It is the #1 thing I am looking for in my next tracker. Even more than actually getting it to work with my Android phone (TG I still have an Apple iPad)

Users want to be able to specify that they want to be in "Fat Burn" or Cardio" when they start a workout and then be notified with one type of vibe-alert when they enter (such as 1 buz) and another type of alert when they leave (such as 1 buzzes).  This would be a huge help as trying to stare at the device while actually working out as is very difficult!!!!

PLEASE?!

I would love a little vibration when I make it into "Peak" zone - it would be great motivation to keep pushing!

I know why aren’t they listening? A triple or quadruple vibration for the zones you are looking to achieve.

Right now I'm preparing for my first marathon. It's crucial for me to train in specific heart rate zones. And I'm not going to glance at my watch all the time, I want notifications. That's why I'm already looking for a tracker that is able to do so, my Fitbit has to go I guess...

Hahaha, fitbit is still fu... their customers

... still "under consideration" since 2014....

I'm sure, "under consideration" will be the status in the years 2020 and 2022 and 2030 and 2050...

Take my advice and send back your fitbit xyz...

In the meantime I'm happy with GARMIN and POLAR...

(with heart rate alarm as a standard feature - no third party app...)

This issue is so unamusing and boring...

(sorry, I forgot to unsubscribe my fitbit membership... I'll do that right now...)

WellW in desperation, and to avoid another hearth attack, I installed the only 3rd party app that looked like it might work.  It froze the heart rate readout and didn't work, even after reboot.  I uninstalled it.   Anyone want to buy a Fitbit ....

I used to run up to a hundred miles a week , race at sub 5' pace but now at 67 and with a lot of lung scarring I need to be careful. I've always pushed myself, but since my Fitbit read outs alerted me to peak HR over 160 I try to hold it below 140, without a vibrating alarm this is almost impossible. This modification could literally be a life saver for me and probably many others.

+1 for this feature request.

I would like to add my voice to the request for and update to the Fitbit Charge 2 to include an alarm when I exceed my maximum heart rate. This feature would be useful in many ways to so many people. Thank you for your consideration.

Currently pregnant and have to monitor heart rate and not allow it to get over 140.  I suggest I wouldn't be the only one where an alarm would be handy whereby my fitbit advises me when I'm getting close to an alarming heart rate and then when I hit it so I can stop.

Yes, I agree, a heart-rate for customized heart zone settings is imperative for people to improve their cardiovascular health.  Please add it as soon as possible.  Thank you.  It is necessary. ... necessary.

I've tried to find apps that will program the Charge 2 to set up HR alerts but with no success, so please Fitbit make it available, I'm sure you already have it ready to roll. Why wait for the first case of an over exerting middle aged jogger falling to the ground clutching his or heart. Actually that could be me.

I'm looking for heart rate alerts too, please can someone at Fitbit respond, were all keen for some news

Bought the Ionic so that I could access the app allowing me to have an alarm if my heart rate goes too high. I looked through the descriptions of every app available, and none met this descriptor. The statement of the moderator LizFitbit, dated 1-8-18 16:14 appears to be erroneous and misleading. I have returned my watch for a refund after it stopped taking charge a month after purchase. My Blaze was a better watch. Hopefully the Versa will be a better product.

If the Moderator would care to give more details about the app by the "Third party developer" which gives a HR alarm functionality, that would be a big step in my decision about which watch I will buy next.

I love this idea, and would also like to get an alert to elevated heart rate outside of exercise application

Upper limit heart rate monitor with an “alarm” would be a great upgrade. This does not mean this Blaze is a medical device any more that an already exist heart beat numerical value is a medical device. I have A fib, I need a warning that my heart rate is too high or erratic.

Apple Watch is developing something in conjunction with Stanford Medical.

thanks

I don't have anything to say on the subject that hasn't been said a million times already, but I thought I'd add my bump to the thread,I wonder how many votes it takes to get some action?! Just got a Fitbit for my mother who just wants to count steps and monitor her heart rate  and the very first thing she asked was if it would tell her if her HR was getting too high, ur missing out on a huge market there, and for such a mainstream 'for normal people' product like the Alta HR, simple little things like this would sway people's decision to buy no problem! Wake up Fitbit, and listen to your faithful users, before more and more drift away to other brands!

I have tried many times to reach out to Fitbit and its executives to present this.  With over almost 4,000 votes for this feature, I am pretty much convinced that Fitbit doesn't care.  I will say that I have found out that Garmin watches have this feature.  Look into the forerunner, fenix, and vivofit series watches. That are a little more expensive but very good quality, and they have a mobile app just like fitbits with more features.  I'm done waiting for Fitbit to take action.  If they don't want the revenue that this feature can create then so be it. Its their loss, Garman's gain.
thanks.

I have fed into a few suggestions now and put up some, but to be honest I think the only people that benefit from this is the Fitbit company. I am so disappointed to read from other community contributors that their idea are getting the silent treatment despite thousands of votes on logged for months,  I am seriously thinking that I will change to another manufacturer.
