Inspire HR keep display on for longer

Could a feature be added to the Inspire and Inspire that keeps the display on for longer?  I get 3-4 seconds before mine goes dark. If I tap the display after it comes on the display time goes to about 6 sec. Continuing to tap will keep the display on. (I've only tested using the stats display). It would be great if there was a user control to have the current settings marked as "short," something about twice as long as "medium," and a "long" that went to (say) 1 minute. Alternatively the user could select from several timings from the current behavior to a maximum of at least 1 minute. Obviously battery life would suffer with a longer display, but I'd take that trade off.

Just bought one for myself and my fiancé.. navigating the inspire hr is unbelievable tedious... the screen timeout is WAY too fast. There needs to be an option to extend this. Everywhere I look there are others complaining about this same issue. Besides this, the device is great. But the timeout is making it barely usable. Come on Fitbit.. make this happen please.

100% agree! The short display length is rubbish.

I agree the screen timeout is way too fast. Most of the time, I can't even get an exercise started and connected to my phone GPS without it shutting off. It's incredibly irritating!

Yes, I am very interested in having this feature added.  I am either unintentionally starting an exercise or having issues trying to select an exercise or alarm as the screen goes dark before I can make a selection.

The time out display is way too short!  First Fitbit that I have experienced that with and I have owned 3 so far.  I have seen other posts complaining about it too so perhaps somehow there can be an adjustment to it without buying a new one??

Hi @All3Leos, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the Inspire HR with us. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Don't forget to add your vote!

definately need longer display time or adjustable display time, 5 to 10 sec would work

I have been thinking about this some more, and it seems that it would be helpful if the display would just stay on until we either press the button or do something else to turn it off.  I think this would be preferable to having a setting by which we could choose how long we want it on, because every time is different.  Why not just simplify it and leave it on until the user turns it off, or at least offer this option under settings?

just got mine. played around with it for a bit. but THIS really sucks. can hardly read the time that quickly, until it turns off again.

@LuciaFitbit any traction from the product teams on this feature request?

I just picked up my Fitbit today, and did not realize that this would be such a huge issue for me. I will definitely be returning it if this doesn't get resolved, which is really disappointing for me as I had been looking forward to using it, but I can't stand the short timeout.

Yesterday I had the situation in which I got my SMS with the online banking transaction code on my Inspire HR, and I thought "Great feature!" Then I read the first three digits on the Inspire, then typed the first three digits into my computer keyboard, then looked back onto the Inspire screen to read the next three digits, and … surprise. Screen is off. Message gone! **ahem**!

This is definitely a game-changer. Seriously thinking about returning mine today. I don't want to keep tapping my screen in order to use mine. Definitely won't be able to see my text notifications before they're gone.

I'd like to chime in: YES, PLEASE. Add a longer display option. The time and other readings disappear too quickly and the vibration is very faint. Something between the old vibration of the Charge (which startled me) and this one that I can hardly sense if I'm in motion anyway.

(And, instead of a box to notify me when "someone replies" how about a box I can check if a decision about this suggestion is ever implemented?)

The timers are useless right now because the watch keeps timing out.. I was so excited to use the feature bu ended up using my phone because the display kept going dark and I couldn’t see the time

Agree!!  Bought my device yesterday and wish I hadn't!! For the price of it, it's lacking a LOT of basic functions!! I want to monitor my heart rate for longer than 2 seconds!!!

I wish to track my HR during workouts by looking at the wristband, my husband owns a Garmin watch which has the option to display ALWAYS. Please add this option, current implementation is frustrating anf not functional for Crossfit style workouts.

100% need this to happen if I'm going to be using my device in the hospital setting.

Please add this. A simple feature to extend screen time out would be very good especially for the heart rate function.

Also brightness control! My inspire is brighter than my phone off an evening.

Mine displays for 3 seconds, needs to be user adjustable, 3, 6, or 9.  I think 6 would be good.  Mine shows time when I flick my wrist or touch, maybe 2 of 3 times (not sensitive enough).  And then when it does work, by the time I read the steps, time is gone.

Also agree! My mom and I both just got Inspire HR's today, and we both commented to each other that the display length was not long enough. (so my vote counts as 2. 😉 lol) I figured the setting to change it must exist somewhere we just hadn't found it, so I said I'd do some googling and let her know... And that's when I stumbled across this post.... I guess this means that setting doesn't exist!! And it needs to, pronto!

Can’t believe Fitbit didn’t add this already! Definitely need to be able to extend the display length. I’m thinking about returning mine because of this and the lack of a second hand for any of the clock faces.

PLEASE add this feature—I really wanted the Inspire HR because I love the slim band and Fitbit quality & accuracy, but I am so disappointed I can’t use it to see what’s happening with my HR constantly or while lying down. The font is so small for the HR I can barely read it when I check it and then it disappears before I see it. I need the option to either enter a mode that displays continuously or a setting to display for up to 10 or 30 mins at a time even though it will drain battery charge. I am fine with charging every day if I can have the face display a lot longer. I am now researching what other brands of HR trackers stay on longer or have continuous HR display because I need to return my Inspire HR if Fitbit doesn’t communicate it will add this feature very soon. I’m checking forums every day but cannot wait much longer for this feature.

If a user setting can't be uploaded to it's firmware, at least make the default timeout longer, say 10 to 20 seconds at the min.

I am going to return mine if this feature does not update. I got it to use for pace and interval running and spend half the time trying to see the screen. Huhe disappointment as i love everything else. If this can be updated I'd keep it
