Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I have to agree it's pretty rediculous that we can't use FitBit as a data source for Apple's HealthKit.  I try and keep all my data there, and this is a glaring omission.

I understand that FitBit is trying to create their own data network, but here's the thing: You don't actually lose money by allowing an import to Apple.  I still bought a FitBit device.  Just give us consumers a choice in where we choose to store/view our data once your device has collected it.

Without this, I find myself seriously considering just getting an Apple Watch instead...

I am requesting that Fitbit move past their views of Apple as only competition and do what it best for their users, both of Fitbit and Apple. If Fitbit is insitant on not making their software compatible with Apple's Health Kit then Fitbit needs to move on to the next logical step. To create a whole other app specifically designed as a two-way data link between Fitbit and Health Kit ( allowing data to be shared both ways ) and charge people a monthly fee for it. If you are a Fitbit product user with a Fitbit device linked to your Dashboard then the monthly fee for the app could be something as low as $2.99 or even free if Fitbit was feeling progressive. However, if someone was a previous Fitbit user and was now wanting to use the data from their Apple Watch to still compete with their Fitbit Friends in challenges, then Fitbit could charge them something like $5.99 per month. Adding almost to the price of the cheapest Fitbit device over the course of a year.
Your move Fitbit. Apple is always moving forward, so accept the system integration challenge of your users or get left in dust with (non-compliant trackers like) the Nike Fuelband.
Note: Now with the Series 2 watch, Nike partnered with Apple. They saw the light of the almighty dollar.

I agree with HellsKitchen as I have already bought an apple watch instead.  They are doing a bad job of it but they are at least starting the social stuff.

@humanista Yes, guess your right. Pretty sad, that they're not trying to be a holistic device for us to use.

We are now at ios10. My iPhone counts my steps - if Fitbit can't integrate with HealthKit I wonder why I still use it....

Please integrate into health kit. Drives me insane when the phone and the charge 2 disagree on steps and distance.

Is there no workaround in cooperation with other services like myfitnesspal, ifttt, up,...?

I have checked it some months ago, but still can not find a nerdy complicated sollten, right?

I agree completely and would ask that the same features/options be offered for Android users. It's so frustrating when all users want is there data to be shared among the services of our choice and to also not lose that data.

Okay so i refuse to pay $4.49 for an additional app to sync Fitbit info with apple health. I use a bunch of other apps, MFP, Runkeeper, etc that all integrate wit Fitbit and apple health.

Come on dev guys, time to step it up

My gym's app sends the information to the Health App. It would be great if the Health App could also collect the data from Fitbit.

Bought the Fitbit scale today and then found out that the Failbit does not share data with Apple Health. No kudos here Failbit!! especially since this appears to be a topic since ‎06-02-2014.

New Fitbit user, just bought a Charge 2. VERY DISAPPOINTED with :

. accuracy of the Charge 2 : it's NOT accurate at all, massively undercounting steps :

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-2/Undercounting-steps/m-p/1599272#M3702

. no Apple health integration. Really Fitbit? You want to be a closed system in 2016? Good luck, you are digging your own grave.

I have been a fitbit user since 2014 first with the flex and a year later moving to the charge HR and Aria scale.  Prior to a few days ago I was strictly an android user but my wife uses ios.  I recently moved over to ios and I have read about how Fitbit did not integrate with Apple Health (healthkit).

To be honest this move boggles my mind.  The fitbit app is great I have no issue with it, I really don't see the harm in allowing integration with Apple Health.  The fact that there are apps that are being sold to overcome this is flaw makes me reconsider my continued investment in Fitbit.  In fact, We were considering upgrading to the Charge 2, but now that I am also on iOS considering switching to another wearable that is compatible with Apple Health as well as the scale.

Please fitbit just allow the integration with Apple Health!

@Rich_Laue : that's not what I meant. Yes you can write apps that integrate with Fitbit. What is NOT there however is something Fitbit should do themselves : integrate their products with Apple Health, Google Fit, Microsoft Health. This says enough :

The big majority of smartphones nowadays are either based on iOS or Android. Fitbit should think about their users instead of doing the wrong thing and not wanting to integrate with them as they also have wearable products. That's like putting a big middle finger to your users!

Many have commented that apple does not do third party connections for valid reasons, yet their is problem understanding that Fitbit has the same valid reasons.

Apple does do third party integrations though. I have 7 separate third party apps writing info directly to apple health as we speak. Most of those also allow apple to write data back as well.

Integrating with iOS Health app is the number one requested feature over the last two years. Even so, FitBit chooses to do nothing. They couldn't care less about making this happen for dedicated customers for one reason or another. If they can't monetize it, they don't do it. Personally, my next device won't likely be a FitBit for this reason ...

So as of 10/8/16 thats a no?

That seems silly when so many people want it.

Just Bought the Charge 2 and I am thinking of dumping it and finding something else.

I think I have spent $90 trying to find the right combination of apps that would allow me to track the things I want since I bought this watch.

Currently the Charge 2 is a confortable pedometer that randomly produces resting heart rate. Not because the Hardware is not cool, and not because there is not software or space to accept it but you are closing down your App enviroment.

If you want a true App enviroment, then you need to make the end all be all fitness app, tracking neutriants, HR every minute or so, motion tracking....really take advantage of your hardware.

If you are not going to do that now, intigrate with the big boys who will allow that from others, Apple, Google, Microsoft.

I really wanted to be able to track my Heart Rate at least every 15 min...get an idea of cycles and such, and not have to enter that data anywhere to track it...FitBit is not doing that.

What is Really the Goal with this as it is?

@goherd15 what your saying Apple allows 3rd party integrarion, this is not apple connecting your account to a third party, but allowing a third party to connect to apple. I currently have 11 sites connected to my fitbit axmccount.. Three are only making me money.

Go to your Fitbit settings, then Export Datta, from here you can download it a Ms do whatever you want.
I'm not sure how giving your data rob pole let's you then take control of said data

I have indeed switched to apple watch. Picked up a cheap zip just because it integrates directly into my HSA but the watch will do that in 2017 so that will be the end of my 4 year fitbit relationship I think.

I'm casting my vote to figure out a deal with Apple and step up the game!

I started with the FLEX, invested in the SURGE earlier this year, but with the updated operating system of the premiere/largest phone and personal computer platform in the world, it's disappointing that these apps are incapable of intigrating.

Understanding that the Apple Watch is marketing itself more in the fitness arena, but from a business and marketing POV, there really should be a way to sync these great apps together! I love my Fitbit and am loyal to the company, but every update to the OS on my phone/laptop comes with Health Options... I wonder why I would continue with a separate item that doesn't sync with the larger platforms that I use on a daily....

Fitbit was one of the pioneers in allowing the average person to be aware of their overall well being, but I'd hate to see people defecting (myself included) in the coming months/years, investing in a longer term supported product because a Apple can offer more detailed data on overall wellbeing in addition to the fundementals of the watch itself.
