Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Wow! A response at last! Even though it's not an actual answer, I appreciate knowing that at least someone from Fitbit is listening to our cries. Thanks Ricky.

Thank you Ricky. I will keep this app on my phone and watch the upgrades to see if this happens. It would be really nice to compete with friends in real time.

As an avid Apple user and FitBit user, I would love for the FitBit app and iHealth app to sync.  I feel like there are A LOT of iOS users that have FitBits so there would be a HUGE draw for it.  I feel like this is the one major drawback with FitBit at this time.  I have used several different trackers and prefer the FitBit Alta at this time, but really wish it would work with my iPhone app better.  I am considering an iWatch and would want to have better connectivity with iOS products and my FitBit.

Well, I was researching Fitbit and considering purchasing one for myself and my daughter.  However, after searching for iOS Health integration and stumbling across this, it seems that not only is this not a priority for FitBit, they are actively against integration.

We will be looking elsewhere for a more open fitness tracking solution.

Hi Kelley,

I found a work around that is okay but not great. MyFitnessPal is an app
that will take the weight measurements from iHealth scale and send it to the
Fitbit app. MyFitnessPal has a free version so you don't have to pay
anything unless you want the extra stuff. The Fitbit app doesn't get the
historical data from MyFitnessPal, but it can be manually entered in the
Fitbit app. You can see all the data in MyFitnessPall which is pretty cool.

Ridiculous that this hasn't happened yet. I'm buying a fitness tracker for my wife for Valentine's Day and won't be buying the Fitbit Charge 2 that I wanted to get her.

No integration with Apple Health = No purchas

@RickyFitbit, it may still be able to be found through search and Google but you've clearly hidden it from the "top-kudoes" listings.

I don't mean any disrespect towards you, I realize you've been put in a rather difficult position. It's never fun to be stuck between what consumers want and corporate beauracracies that don't give a crap. That said, all I ask from you is that you not only continue to forward our feedback to them but also push and/or lobby for us. Not in a manner that will cost you your job, but in a manner that should be classified as going above and beyond by ensuring the amount of desire we have towards seeing this feature implemented is made abundantly clear and getting some sort of a more definitive answer as to rather or not it'll ever actually happen.

@everyone, looking at the Fitbit App on the iOS store, it's dropped half a star since the other day and there are several reviews about the inability to sync to/from Apple Health! Love it! Keep up the good work and make it become an issue that they cannot simply ignore! Those who haven't already and wish to see this feature added, please be sure to leave a review and mention your disappointment...

Don't feel like writing a review? I've done it for you!

Despite being their #1 most requested feature for over 2 years, they still haven't implemented the ability to sync with Apple Health.

They say they care about user feedback... well actions speak louder than words.

I love my Apple Watch. It tracks all my exercises except the treadmill. It even tracks my Yoga.

I guess seeing this request started in 2014 - we are to assume fitbit is ignoring it - which is too bad - as I use both an apple watch and fitbit - and would like to keep my steps from both...  please fitbit - hear your customers and integrate with iOS health...

I would be beneficial for the FITBIT stats to integrate with IPhone Health app. Please make this happen soon. Thank you in advance

Make it happen folks at FITBIT....before some other product does and we no longer use yours!

I had already updated the rewiev for the AppStore on fitbit -app a month ago, but the new update has made my review fall below, so i have updated my review again so its more on the top again.

In small words i have written in swedish like this...transladed to..

"Because there is no integration to iOS health -app i gave the app low numbers (1 of 5), but the day fitbit put the integration to the iOS health -app i will imidgetly give it 4 out of 5."

I understand this is negative "reviev news on AppStore" but again, its not my fault as an custumer that i write this, its fitbit them self that makes this negative. I hope this will be a priority request fix for fitbit 2017, we are many iOS users (-and Android users) and so on.

I have now retired my Fitbit Surge, having received an Apple Watch for my birthday.  I wore both for 3 months, tracking activity on FitBit and all other health related items on Apple.  But FitBit's lack of integration tempted me to start tracking activity on my new watch and having done so I could see no reason to continue using the FitBit, especially as it's the active calories that are so difficult to integrate with Health.  If any iPhone user out there is considering buying a FitBit I'd recommend saving for a bit longer and getting an Apple Watch instead.  You'll save yourself so much frustration and disappointment and get a full and complete picture for your health records. It's such a shame really. I was a massive, massive Fitbit fan but their short sightedness drove me to an alternative device.

The long term for fitbit isn't looking good. Maybe Apple or Garmin will eventually buy them. I see that as the only way we will ever see intergration with Health.

Second story

https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/02/06/apple-inc-is-now-approaching-100-billion-in-debt.aspx

Fitbit expects to generate just $1.5-$1.7 billion in revenues in fiscal 2017, which would represent a 26% decline (at the midpoint) and miss the consensus estimate of $2.4 billion. It will also remain in the red with a non-GAAP net loss of $0.22-$0.44 for the year, well below expectations for a profit of $0.64. Lastly, it announced that it would lay off 110 employees, or 6% of its workforce, to reduce its operating expenses.

Well, to be fair, after their recent killings (RIP, Pebble.) acquisitions, they have a lot of redundancy which they reduce in this way.

Agree with @JasonSmith - save and buy an Apple Watch Series 1 or Series 2 (GPS and water sports!), they have been going on sale from time to time. I use a couple of best-in-class apps for tracking free weights and cycling, and both integrate with HealthKit and I get calorie/exercise/standing credit. For example I rode a 100 mile century a couple of weeks ago, and in my rush out the door forgot to put my Watch Series 0 (original) on that morning. Good news? Ride was tracked using my Garmin bike computer which syncs to Strava, RideWithGPS, MapMyFitness, Endomondo, etc. When I got back home around 4pm and put on my watch, I received credit for calories, exercise minutes, and standing (via Strava-to-HealthKit integration). I still have my iPhone setup as step tracker for Fitbit app, and rarely look at Fitbit's step focused app anymore.

I'm lucky enough to have the Apple Watch 2. It's brilliant!  Amazing for swimming. It calculates the pool length, how many lengths you swam, what stroke you were doing and the number of strokes you made. It adds the weather, location and how long you were in the pool. Calories and total distance complete the picture of your swimming record. Brilliant!

It's amazing that FitBit have responded, and yet not responded, at the same time.

And also, no real answer as to why the thread is hidden from the main index.

@RickyFitbit Did you see the GitLab postmortem recently?  *That* is the type of honesty we'd like to see here.

If you're not going to do it, say so, and - if possible - explain why.  It's better than this.

I'm in the process to replace my Fitbit Charge 2 with Apple Watch, because Fitbit can't intergrate with the Health app.
