Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I agree.  I have a Blaze and an Aria and my boyfriend has a Blaze and an Apple Watch.  I've decided to buy the Watch series 2 because it is so useful for my work stuff but I love my blaze.... HOWEVER.. I will look like a complete idiot wearing both.  I'd like to wear the blaze to sleep and for my workouts and then use the Watch the rest of the time that way i can use the benefits of both for each of it's strengths and they each have time to charge.  In order to really do this I need the data to sync between the healthkit, watch, and fitbit app.  It would be lovely if the fitbit app would allow the watch as another tracker, and it would be nice if the watch app and healthkit would pickup the data from the Blaze as well without having to use sync solver.    I'm also a developer/ designer  and marketing professional and find it hard to believe that this is something your team cannot figure out how to do. So I assume its a business decision... but not a good one. (no offense)  I also see it as an opportunity for more monetization over time.  Because if my Blaze breaks down at this point I would be leary to buy another one without integration but if it's integrated I'll gladly pay for a new one from a company that does fitness tracking so well and listens to it's customers.  I would also pay for a subscription if necessary to include this service which could make you the cost of a new watch from me YEARLY rather than just when they break or become lost.  If just 8% of your users bought this service and you were obtaining another 120 per year from them EACH plus they continued to purchase your products because they integrate well, would that not be enough reason to make the changes necessary to stay competitive?  Thanks for listening.... or at least I hope you are.

I agree - please develop something so that the Fitbit app can sync with the iOS Health app! Sometimes I have forgotten my Fitbit at home, but want to keep track of my steps. I know that the Health app does that automatically, so it would be great if I could sync the two and not lose track of my progress!

It's hard to believe cool clock faces could be more important than making the Fitbit more adaptable. Integrating the two apps could make the difference between more sales or actually losing customers; ppl who love their Fitbits but want easier integration, to Apple.

Please add Apple Health sync!

I know fitbit doesn't want to play well with Apple, but either through there app directly or perhaps a partner, they need to get there data into this solution. The ability to read data back from Apple Health would be great too. Working with Kardia EKG device or Omron health blood pressure would also be great. Fitbit need to realize its Health company. Something that reads off a shoe like Nike did, blood pressure device, EKG device. People they are targeting care about these things. Be a health company.

Hey FitBit!

Please just do the right thing (for your business and your users) and integrate with HealthKit.

Under consideration for 3 years. They either lack the talent to code it or lack the sincere dedication to health and want to keep people in the Fitbit ecosystem.

We know good and well they weren't sincerely considering the integration or it'd be done in a week.

It's a shame really. I keep swapping between my Apple Watch and my Fitbit... I'm not sure I'm willing to commit to either company giving their malicious attitudes towards each other.

Please integrate with Apple Watch

Hope they do this one as well but based on the fact that when you go the main feature suggestion page and sort by Top, the one that shows up with the most votes has about 1,800 less than this one. They seem to be deliberately blocking this from showing up as a top suggestion.

I need to sync my FitBit data to Apple Health, because my health insurance app uses the data from Apple Health to give me bonus points.

What is the status on this?

Here is what I do.... I use Apple Watch for most everything but I like my blaze for Fitbit challenges and the app. I wear both. So I don't look like a **ahem** I bought a piece of elastic and some Velcro from Dollar General for about two dollars. I made myself a elastic fit bit band that wraps around the bezel holding the van to my ankle comfortably throughout the day without looking like a prison monitor. This way I can still use the app I prefer and I use sync solver to sync everything to health except steps. I let my Apple Watch steps count for the health app but I like the continuous heart beat readings to get imported from Fitbit as well as the sleep data. I wear the Fitbit to bed and let the Apple Watch charge. Fitbits sleep data is better anyway. I find this gives a much more thorough data capture overall even if it's not ideal. I'm getting an aria today so that I can use a smaller Fitbit on my ankle or as an opposite wrist bracelet. after wearing the Apple Watch for a bit I find it's fitness data lacking so this is the best solution I've found for accuracy and to still use the Fitbit community and Watch share features.

Having Fitbit data be much more integrated and available in iOS MyHealth would be great!

Nearly three years and over 5,000 votes and this is only "under consideration"? I have enjoyed and benefited from my various Fitbit models over the last couple years, but you guys need to add this and quick or you will have another customer jumping ship. Your product is no longer anything special and isn't even leading in this category anymore- you should be listening to your customers if you want to keep them. I, like many others, have been putting up with this missing, critical feature for far too long and will be ditching Fitbit for the Apple Watch very soon if this request is not taken seriously by you guys. And after looking through several pages of comments here, and not seeing a single comment from Fitbit aside from Allison's stickied comment, I highly doubt you guys are taking this request serious at all.

I feel the exact same way as Ctl904 & that's why I bought my Apple Watch last night. I sincerely hope they get this added as soon as possible though...

I've gone through 4 of the original flex trackers and now I'm on my second broken surge,  While I love the fitbit app itself but the durability of the trackers just isn't there for me.   I'd love to just get an iwatch and just pay for the fitbit app integration.   At this point the ONLY reason I haven't switched over is because I get an insurance break through my work using the fitbit for now at least....

I have just had my fourth FitBit Charge fail (they have all come apart at the strap in under 12 months - fitbit has been great about replacing them but finally stoped doing so) and replaced it with an Apple Watch. "Sync Solver" has made it possible to move some of my data between the two platforms, but it isn't completely functional.

Maybe fitbit should consider charging some subscription money for Apple Health integration to offset loss of hardware sales, but if I can't easily sync my Apple Watch, I am unlikley to continue to use the wider fitbit fitness platform when I have so many other options available, as good as the Fitbit community might be.

If the Fitbit API was a bit more open and complete I could use Sync Solver to push all the data between Apple Health and Fitbit's system, but it seems like Fitbit is trying to discourage users of their hardware from using other hardware, so the basic things like step count cannot be put into their system without a Fitbit device doing to tracking. I think a smarter option would be to enable and encourage users of other hardware to use Fitbit's sofware/community. Build the best hardware possible, yes, but locking out all the other platforms could result in complete loss of relevance if the users all go away to a more open platform that supports all of the major hardware.

Keeping Pace
The annoying thing with all this is that is actually possible to extract all of the data with the current API.

I have extracted intraday data including 1 second heart rate data during exercise but you can only do it for your own data using your own API keys which is fine for what I want. They even show you (sort of) how to do it using the apigee website from fitbits own development documentation.

But it just seems silly not to allow third party app developers publish apps that will accomplish what thousands are asking for when the system already supports it. If they don't want to do it themselves why stop other people who have shown initiative to implement what we all want?

Fitbit probably doesn't allow it to force people to buy their equipment.

I'd rather just pay for the app, fitbit will learn the hard way.    You either play along with Apple or you lose......lol

I have an Apple Watch Series 2 Nike Plus Edition and my wife and mother have a Fitbit. I would love to compete in challenges with them. Fitbit is going to end up like Blackberry. Blackberry waited too late to shate BBM and now they're irrelevant. Fitbit will decide to do the right thing when IOS11/WatchOS4 come out and have a fitness community like Fitbit. Apple should make a cheaper wearable to compete with Fitbit.
