Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Please integrate with HealthKit. I am a WeightWatchers member and they are integrating with HealthKit. In order for WeightWatchers to convert my activity into their Points system I need to get my FitBit steps into HealthKit. That is the beauty of this integration. It would be a shame for FitBit to miss out and lose customers. I would certainly switch to a different device that does integrate.

Looks like I got the same form letter response when I inquired about fitbit integration with HealthKit as well. Very disappointing that Fitbit has no immediately plans to integrate. I love using my fitbit, but I want all of my information to come together in HealthKit and will making my future purchases with that in mind. I hope they change their minds quickly.

Okay here it goes..   I have loved my fitbit since my first on just weeks after just weeks it fitbit released the Ultra.   I just bought my parents IPhones and was going to order them a fitbit for Christmas gifts.   If they do not support integration I will be purchasing all of us either a Garmin or Nike.

I was disappointed that recalled the Force now this.  Come on.  Thought the idea was to give customers what they want.   Not Fitbit.

Just heard back from fitbit that after knowing about this since June and having over 371 votes they

"We don't have immediate plans to integrate with HealthKit.

We appreciate your feedback. Sincerely, Angelo A and the Fitbit Team "

Obviously Fitbit doesn't listen to its community and won't even send step data to healthkit. Cannot wait for either the Basis Peak or the Apple watch to come out as I need to find a product that is willing to work for its customers rather than against them.

I see the voting for this was started way back in June. Are we still actually waiting to decide? I thought maybe we were just waiting for the update after 8.0.2 was released, but I guess not. I got the FitBit update today and there still isn't any integration with healthkit.

So is this a no? Is this a not yet? Is this a we'll see?

I was really hoping that FitBit or MFP would update it with my steps. I know that the phone does the steps, but I don't carry my phone everywhere at all times unlike my fitbit.

I'd like to know if there will be an official response or not.

HealthKit integration is a "must have" for fitbit. While i love my One, if Healthkit integration does not come soon, i'll be looking for a new tracker. Period.

Cant add my vote! Its stuck at 380. Most popular suggestion ever perhaps?!

If HealthKit API integration does not come by the end of October, at which time I will be purchasing an iPhone 6 Plus, I will leave Fitbit for good and find a new tracker that actually implements innovative features.

Fitbit, you are losing your touch.

Many other health apps now have Healthkit support, making Fitbit's lack of support all the more obvious, illogical, and frankly bizarre.

Quite why they're ignoring the demands for this I don't know. It surely can't be because they want FitBit and Aria data to be siloed in the FitBit app, as they share with MyFitnessPal. Maybe it's just plain old fashioned technical incompetence or laziness. Or maybe they already spent all of this year's app development budget on a new pair of shoes.

Whatever the reason, it makes FitBit look pig headed and backward. Fitbit - if you give a **ahem** about retaining your customers, remove your heads from the sand and support HealthKit soon. By soon I mean within the next week or two, not within the next 2 or 3 years. No support is not an option. Do you understand that?

I will be buying a competitor’s product if you don't integrate. And recommending a change to my 20 friends who use fitbit now as well.

Integrate. Hands down, or offer your customers a refund on their purchase, I would certainly want one for a product that fails to meet basic quality standards (flex wrist strap is horrendous) the least you could do is integrate into HealthKit

I emailed some quotes from this thread and the link to it to fitbit support.

This was the response.

Hello,

Our Community team is working to address the comments and suggestions posted on the link regarding Healthkit.

We appreciate your patience with this matter.

Where is this invisible Community team? They are not talking to us. They are not asking questions. What is the deal?

Bluejay, it's interesting that you received that response. Here's there response I just received from Fitbit customer support regarding (lack-of) plans to support HealthKit:

We don't have immediate plans to integrate with HealthKit. We'll watch HealthKit closely as it matures and look for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience. In the meantime we'd like to hear more from you about what you'd like to see in a HealthKit and Fitbit integration. Please share your ideas in ourcommunity at https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Integrate-with-iOS-8-Health-App/idi-p/319432.

This is rather surprising given the fact that Fitbit was mentioned by Apple in the WWDC iOS8 unveiling.

Since I'm about to receive an iPhone 6 which has a built-in pedometer, there's a good chance that I'm going to stop using my Fitbit One.

The Fitbit Flex is a great device and I plan of keeping it!

Please allow Fitbit's app to share it tracked information with Apple's new Health App!

The Apple watch will be too bulky to workout or run with. That's another great

feature of the Fitbit Flex. It's so light, you don't even know your wearing it.

Partening up with Apple is a Win-Win sitution for both of you!

Is there an alternative way to sync the aria scale to something other than fitbit's own website and apps? I'm worried fitbit will go bankrupt soon and I won't be able to use my expensive scales as anything more than a doorstop, given how innovative they are.

What a shame.  This company and devise was so great initally and as how just about become obsolete!  Although fitbit has a lot of years of my data and I will wait a bit before moving on, I am looking forward to saying GOOD BYE to fitbit.

Terrible product launch history and so slow on new updates.  Ridiculous that they have not integrated with healthkit - so simple.  clearly they are just being stubborn.

I'm a bit dissapointed at this point.. Came here looking for answers to why I can't do something when it appeared fitbit and apple have a good working relationship. Also dissapoined about my flex being so hard to charge in that dumb little charger.. And I'm dissapoined about the whole unresolved fitbit force issue.. Things are stacking up against fitbit and Will be changing soon if Fitbit won't keep up...
