Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Do you hear that? That's the sounds of thousands of fitbits being sold on eBay.

I'm done and won't be coming back to fitbit products again. I'm not into information silos.

This is really disappointing.  I'd like to get the data captured by my fitbit to other applications and to combine it with their data (wahoo bike data for example).  It seems like fitbit would have nothing to lose by allowing its data to be shared with healthkit.  They can manage the data one way even so that users could not use the fitbit applications without fitbit hardware.

There is 850 + customers asking for this integration.  At $50/profit per customer that $42,500 of potential lost sales on future products not to mention the negative publicity this has generated.  Hey here is an idea, give me the $42k and I will develop the integration.  Problem Solved and for the 10 hours of time to write the integration I will be happy.  Call me.

Wow, what a blow.  I have been a FitBit user for years but with this stance on Health Kit integration I am out.  At this point the activity tracker has been eclipsed by the phone for many and I can find another scale to replace my Aria.  Locking my data out of Health Kit is the end of FitBit in my world.   It's a shame...prior to this I was really happy with FitBit.

I own a Fitbit Flex, and now that Fitbit has taken a stance on HealthKit I no longer feel Fitbit products and solutions will meet my needs going forward.

It's a shame that fitbit refuses to integrate with Healthkit. Looks like I will not purchase any more fitbit devices. Was planning on buying a pedometer this month. Migh as well go with the apple watch.

I noticed they deleted all previous posts about healthkit on Twitter and Facebook. I guess they think if they hide them the negativity will subside. LMAO.

Very unhappy that Fitbit is not integrating MY data into HealthKit. Unless this changes, I will not longer consider myself a satisfied custmer of Fitbit and will plan to replace my Aria and One with devices that will take advantage of HealthKit.

As a fitbit user of nearly a year, I would also like to voice my opinion on your decision not to integrate with Apple's Healthkit-   I think you may have dropped the ball on this one.  But-  It's not too late.

Given the lack of innovation and comments about no support for Healthkit their statement should be read as:

"We are out of money and have no way to spend any additional funds on Healthkit since we are barely keeping our head above water now."

Very disappointing.  I like many others just assumed the integration with Healthkit is a forgone conclusion.  As an owner of the Aria not having this data integrated into one view is an incredible let down.  This will drive a nail in the coffin of this company.  I'm sure there are plenty of current and potential owners who will be switching platforms.

Very disappointed to hear FitBit is not integrating with HealthKit.

They appear to think locking our step and sleep data up is going to benefit their business. It's very anti-customer and very unlike what I've seen from them so far.

Their core value prop is their step tracking hardware and the accuracy of it's firmware. They've got plenty of competition who will support HealthKit and will likely push existing customers to migrate and new customers to choose an alternative.

Yes, well, they can try... but I've posted about this on my Facebook page now... not to mention word of mouth that will happen... and they don't have a delete button on that. Also, the web pages that are picking this up won't be silenced either.

This is MY health data, and I'll keep it where I see fit.

My Ultra is getting old and worn.  I will be buying something else.  At this point, it won't be a FitBit.

I have been a FitBit user since the beggining, and have had 3 fitbits (though I returned my Force as I was getting a rash) and have an Aria.

Honestly I am furious with Fitbit's stance on integration with Apple Health Kit. I want my steps, stairs, sleep and weight to be integrated. I know they want to make money off their premium service, but the fact that they support a free link to Microsoft Health Vault basically negates any argument for having this as part of their premium service.

This makes me want an iWatch more, and maybe sell my Aria and get a scale that integrates with HealthKit, like the iHealth.

I want Health Integration so I can see my health information matched up with more than other people with FitBit, so it can be universal accross fitness trackers. This is data on me, and I want to be able to use it as I see fit.

I was really considering using my money from my Force to get the next Fitbit, and wait and see on the Apple Watch, but this makes me think I should use the money for the Watch and move away from FitBit completely.

No HealthKit integration = no more of my money. So long, FitBit.

Are the executives of this company actually listening to their customers.  I find it incomprehensible that a conscious decision would be made not to integrate w/healthkit and think no negative customer response would be forthcoming.

i signed up on these forums just to voice my opinion and won't be posting again cause I'm going to withings website to get me a new tracker.

Good luck FB with this strategy

I too have been hoping for HealthKit integration.  I've purchased four different Fitbit devices for my family and don't plan to buy any more at this point.

As I've been shopping for a replacement for my Fitbit One today, I finally got around past Garmin, Jawbone, Wihtings (which looked good on a number of levels), and Misfits... then I checked the Apple Watch - which I hadn't seen anything new on since the Big Reveal. Holy moly. Buh-bye Fitbit and Hello Apple Watch.

I'm wondering if I could get a prorated refund for my Premium purchase. Right now I'm not sure the company is going to be around for much longer.

Fitbit may have deleted their tweets and Facebook posts, but:

Fitbit has no plans for iOS 8 HealthKit integration:

9to5Mac

Gizmodo

MacWorld

iMore

The Inquirer

iCulture (Dutch)

Just to name a few.

Will this get Fitbit moving?

Well guess I'll be getting another fitness tracker.  My fitbit classic is getting long in the tooth and was looking for a replacement, guess i'm going elsewhere

@larryhouse

Actually, it looks like it is too late.  If FitBit is run by people so short sighted that they have not already integrated healthkit, chances are that nothing is going to change, plus a lot of people have already decided that they are now done with FitBit.

No healthkit integration = no more fitbit for me.

Add me to the growing list of users who want my Fitbit One and Aria to be interoperable with HealthKit!  The whole idea of your products is interoperability and convergence, by limiting the integration to HealthKit, you are only pushing people away.  It is unlikely that a fitness product buyer with an Apple device going to say "I shall get a FitBit because it does not connect to Apple".  If you have security concerns, make it an optional switch someone has to toggle to enable the connection.
