Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Sorry for all the typos but if I wasn't perfectly clear our next trackers will NOT be Fitbit unless this is resolved. I feel totally ripped off.

I agree, need to sync with Apple Healthkit. May need to go with Nike if this is not supported.

#$^# FitBit!!  HealthKit got me interested in fitness trackers and I bought my fitbit the day I bought my new iPhone with iOS8.  I am very unhappy with you right now.  Anyone want to purchase a very lightly used fitbit flex?

I love my Fitbit but this is really disappointing. I plan to use HealthKit, want to have all my information in one place, and really dislike needing extra apps just to track information that could be integrated into one. Will probably be looking at other options unless Fitbit changes its mind.

This is dissapointing.  I will be dumping my fitbit force for an Up immediately.

Another dissappointed 'Fitbit with no HealthKit' user.

Fitbit is a great tracker.   The software has always been its weakness.  Lack of integration with Apple's Healthkit only makes the situation worse.  The fact that Fitbit says they have no plans to integrate with Healthkit is a bit perplexing.  Why not?

Fitness trackers are having a hard time being unique.  It's not 2011.  There are many options.  Being unique by not integrating with Healthkit is not a good idea.

Hope 900 comments in this tread helps Fitbit mgmt to do some replanning.

Ditto to all the above. Please integrate HealthKit asap!

You know, it kind of sucks that they don't include data from the 5S and 6/6+ to get more detailed and informative information for users.  Combining the data from the 6 series and things like stair tracking with the information the Flex has and tracks would make for a pretty compelling information gathering system on a user's activity.

Instead of doing cool stuff they're basically giving us all the bird and saying they know what's best, instead of doing something compelling for us.  I'm dumping Fitbit unless they come around.  Good luck subsisting on Samsung devices, but I have news for Fitbit:
Samsung doesn't like you either.

I am really disapointed with this announcement... I've allready ordered a new withings scale to replace my aria and resorted to using the iphone's motion co-processor for basic activity tracking. I have no intention of entertaining the use of fitbit products in the future due to this incredibly short sighted decision.

Count me as another disappointed customer.  I know. I know.  "Apple is a closed ecosystem".  However, Fitbit's platform is far from open, and the last I checked you don't make smart phones.   Unless their next device has some compeling feature that can't be found elsewhere (and is announced fairly soon), I can't imagine I'll remain a Fitbit customer.

EDIT: 2 months on. I've since purchased a Charge and now a Charge HR.  I'm all talk.

Extremely disappointed at Fitbit's refusal to integrate with HealthKit.

My health data belongs to me. By refusing to integrate with HK, you're essentially telling me that not only does my health data belong to you, but that only you will decide with whom it can be shared.

Healthkit was announced in June, how you've waited this long to make such an inane announcement is mindblowing.

Change course before you lose more customers. Enjoy my 1-star rating in the App Store.

Please integrate with the health app.

It is a rare to see a company make such a silly short sighted decision, but Fitbit managed to do so while completely ignoring their user base. What do we expect to get out of Healthkit integration? Is that a real question? Frankly, it is none of your business. Your customers have clearly and loudly spoken. You are just choosing to ignore them. We have supported your company & your products for years. I will be selling all my Fitbit products and moving on to another company. If your plan was to keep people from moving to the Apple Watch you just pushed me towards it.

Please everyone take 2 minutes & give the Fitbit app a 1 star review on the App Store and let people know why they should not spend their money on products from a company that turns their backs on their customers over a simple and trivial feature. Maybe if enough noise is made we will see a change in this ridiculous position.

Sounds like Fitbit is not moving on this and trying to be a walled garden. Can you spell 'Palm' or 'Blackberry'. Bought my Garmin vivofit. I've voted with my fitness tracker. Too bad - Fitbit had some nice features - but looks like they're headed in the wrong direction.

+1 for HealthKit integration ASAP, or I sell the brand new Flex I just bought and choose to never purchase any Fitbit products again. Good job, Fitbit. You've turned a happy customer into an angry one overnight.

I am very disappointed that FitBit reports they do not have plans to update their app to work in HealthKit.  I love my Fitbit, however I love my Apple products too and what all my gadets to talk to each other.  I am not sure what FitBit is thinking.  Please consider making the updates to the app to allow all gadgets to talk.  Otherwise I may need to considering selling my FitBit for an app that does talk to my Apple apps.

I also want Fitbit to integrate with the iPhone Health App. I will (or might) continue to use the Fitbit once the iWatch comes out. Fitbit needs to step up their game if they are going to compete.

I sent back my force with plans to buy it's replacement and have been using my older flex. With this news, I will just be moving on to something new... so sad to hear

I want to be able to take my historical data and load it into any app of my choosing. For example if fitbit integrated with health I could load my step count into the Carrot fitness app. Please integrate with healthkit.

Very diappointed to hear fitbit has no plans to support healthkit.  I've had every version of fitbit device, and like the various form factors.  But with no plans to support healthkit like so many other apps are doing, and I'm sure many devices will be doing, it seems assured I'll be switching away from my fitibt to the apple watch, or some other device that will support it healthkit.  Just too many upsides with all the apps and devices already supporting it, and many more options to come.

And for the last few days... I have peacefully scanned the web for a bankruptcy announcement from Fitbit... I haven't seen one yet... But unless they have a truly magical product in the wings... I am afraid that it won't be terribly long...

Added my 1-star rating to the app store. Twitter is filled with #boycottfitbit rants. It seems the noise level is increasing rapidly. This is turning into a full-blown media fiasco. Wonder how long until we hear an update from Fitbit?

"Developers working for Fitbit are constantly mining the Community forums looking for new ideas, and seeing what our customers are interested in. Adding your feedback there is the best way to make your interests in integration with HealthKit heard."

How much more feedback do you need? If you mine the forums to see what your customers are interested in, than I guess it is time to get to work. Your customers are interested in Healthkit integration. Our interest in Healthkit clearly isn't being heard as you said it would be. Massive forums of people, 100s of reviews, a never ending Twitter stream and stories on 10+ mainstream Apple websites about your customers extreme disappointment & you guys aren't hearing a single thing. Just absolute silence. Fix it. Now.

And the fact that you waited this long to make a small announcement on you forum about a feature all your customers were excited to see integrated is absolutely pathetic. You should be ashamed about how you have handled this issue and treated your customers. Wake up!
