Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I just want to say I'm so dissapointed with Fitbit and their choice not to add Healthkit syncing to their App. I've had my Force and Aria scale for a year now and I like them both very much, I didn't have the allergic issue with my Force so I'm still happily using it to track my data and was thinking about upgrading to one of the newer HR capable models coming soon but now I'm forced to rethink all that.

Just because there is some corporate squable over competing products... blah, blah, blah they are now punishing us for choosing what I think are the best phones on the market and wasn't really considering an Apple Watch only because it will be expensive and bulky and would prefer to keep my Fitbit. I say it should be our choice as to what to do with our health data. Fitbit should also understand that all the iOS users out there are already Fitbit owners as they would have no use for the app if they didn't already give their money to Fitbit and they should treat us like we don't matter.

If they continue to dismiss our outcry for the Healthkit Integration so that we may combine all out health data especially our weight along with other important information that our doctors would love to see then they are going to lose a much larger comsumer base than they did when the Force Allergy Recall made many people look at other options. I don't want to see that happen... I just want the free choice to use my health data in the way I want and not have my hand forced by Fitbit.

Aria Scale Integration with Health Kit.

Bottom line - just sync everything.  Really obvious, guys...  You shouldn't need your users to tell you something blatently obvious.

Please incorporate the HealthKit APIs to the FitBit app on iOS 8 in order for the stock Health app in iOS 8 to collect all the data gathered from the FitBit app on iOS.

It's really a shame you don't provide this integration yet and it really makes me thing about using competitiors products

I have another question that, although it may not seem it on the surface, if genuine and serious.

You've been asking us how we see HealthKit integration working. Basically, why we think we "need" it and what benefits it would bring.

I am, therefore, honestly curious about the flip-side of that question.
How does FitBit see a standalone iOS fitness app working. Why do we not need HealthKit integration? What benefits do we get from it not being there?

Basically, "Why is FitBit on iOS not better with HealthKit?" I think this is a fair question to ask.

Hi there, I am currently thinking about buying a fitness tracker. The Surge would be a great solution for me, nearly perfect. But it will only be an option for me if Fitbit will integrate syncing with the Apple Health Kit. No way to buy it without that feature.

You ask in your post,

"What do you imagine a HealthKit integration would entail and what do you expect to get out of it?"

I imagine HealthKit integration to work like every other app that integrates with healthkit, in that I can enable the app to share data with the health dashboard, be that steps, calories burned, heart rate, flights of stairs climbed, sleep data or anything else. Why should I imagine the integration of your product would be different from any other. As for what I expect to get out of it, I expect to be able to see all of my data in one place if I so choose and to be able to have the freedom to choose what that place is.

I love your products, and have recommended them to many friends. I am curretly looking to buy a new health tracker and my first preference out of the current and upcoming products is the ChargeHR, however I will purchase another option if this one does not integrate as others will.

The next step... Fitbit with ios Healthkit. It will be a standard, jumping into sync now is good business if u want apple users to stay after the iwatch comes out. I like fitbit. Am new and learning lots of good stuff. At least Argus shakes hands for now - but usung three apps is cumbersome.

Quite simply, I refuse to buy a Fitbit until it integrates with Apple Health.  Until that happens, I would only seriously consider other monitoring devices that do integrate.  Please speed up your decision on whether or not to integrate with Apple Health.  Thank you.

I want to see HealthKit integration as well! I have used several other activity trackers and so far I favor my FitBit Flex more than all the others. I may upgrade to the new FitBit with GPS and HR monitor soon though. I have been waiting for such features for a while!

+1 for HeathKit Integration!

Fitbit GM Gareth Jones told Wareable that Fitbit will be making a decision on this matter early next year. Can you confirm?

There is almost 1,000 votes for this feature - is there a question on if fitbit customers want this feature added at this point?

What else do you need to know from us?

Ok... 2 months have passed and still nothing. What else kind of feedback do you need?

Really?

REALLY?

Next. Year?

For just the decision?

For something that has 933 upvotes and a discussion thread of 1930 posts over 78 pages?

Well, congratulations. You've lost touch with your customers. You've lost any opportunity to escape this fiasco with any sense of credibility. basically, "You've lost."

I'm not willing to wait that long. I'll be getting something else. I can't believe the decision-makers are reading this and making this call. Talk about a major disconnect.

Just bought a Fitbit Flex. I'm really hoping a feature will be added to the iOS app to allow it to push data to Health, where the rest of my health data lives. Cyclemeter added it as a premium feature (I'm assuming it's not there currently, to protect the Fitbit Premium subscription service - perhaps a second option for a premium subscription to enable HealthKit integration?). Realistically, I'm not going to put all of my health info into the Fitbit tracking app/website/account. I am wanting to use the Flex as the data logging tool, feeding data into the database used by the rest of my health data. I'm not interested in pushing my health data from HealthKit TO Fitbit, though.

@SunsetRunner I can't confirm the timing of this decision, but thanks for sharing the interview.

@Anomoly @rbeebr No question this is our most popular request. The community has contributed a great deal and we've captured some really salient feedback. While new votes, voices, and ideas do further the cause, the platform is still very new and we are are continuing to consider how it may benefit all our users.

So... what do we need from you, you ask? Your patience and ongoing support as we work towards a decision and carry on with our mission to deliver the best fitness tracking experience possible.

It seems like Fitibt is unwilling or unable to integrate for Health Kit. Pretty sad if you ask me. My wife and I LOVE our fitbit one but are seriously considering making a switch once these guys die. Really disappointing.

@zapleahy "While new votes, voices, and ideas do further the cause, the platform is still very new and we are are continuing to consider how it may benefit all our users."

Yes, we've heard this statement, or variations of this theme, previously.  I appreciate you reciting the company line here, but Allison, it is an illogical excuse for the delay, or refusal, to sync to HealthKit.  Google apps will benefit google users, microsoft apps will benefit microsoft users, android apps will benefit android users, and yes apple apps will benefit apple users.

FitBit is employing it's own private logic while serving pablum to apple consumers who have also been fitbit customers.

"So... what do we need from you, you ask? Your patience and ongoing support as we work towards a decision and carry on with our mission to deliver the best fitness tracking experience possible."

Well, FitBit has asked for our vote, our input, our insights regarding how we see ourselves using HealthKit if FitBit were to sync to it, and now you also would like our patience.  Sorry, Allison that this is directed in your direction, I really do understand you are simply doing your job, but asking for our patience while insulted for months is asking for a bit more than fitbit deserves at this juncture.  Patience left the building about a month ago.

Please integrate!! I was so exited to use it with the new health kit after hearing it mentioned in the apple keynote speech. Needless to say I've been disappointed that there is still no integration for it even with the multiple updates. Integrate!!!

Looks like it will be a Garmin Vivosmart for me.

Sad when they are not listening to their customers and dont see the benefit of keeping track with competition.

Garmin works with Health kit and will give you more or less the same fuctions as the Fitbit charge.

It would be extremely helpful if FitBit could integrate step count and calories burned into HealthKit. Any updates in this regard would be very much appreciated!!

Let me be clear. I am now wearing a competitor's tracker because: 1. Fitbit should have begun this discussion right after their trackers were prominently featured in the Health Kit announcement. 2. When Health Kit was rolled out fitbit should have been able to announce their attentions. They didn't have to have it ready, but the answer of yes we will do it in the near future or no we have no intentions to do it at this time. 3, After stringing people along for months they will not even decide till next year. Too little way too late.

Really?

BAhahahaha!

At this point, I say "Good luck with that."

So sad, that most of the little guys and newcomers were able to gather and evaluate the data on Healthkit, evaluate their customers, and write app integrations to be ready for the Apple Health launch while one of the biggest players sits around months later wondering what all the fuss is about.  Seriously, are you guys now the IBM of fitness?
