Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

@zapleahy et al,

+1 for iOS Health App integration.

It's been said before but my entire family uses it along with a withings scale. The dashboard is useful but more so, it gives the user ownership of his/her own health data. MS Health, which does get synced from Fitbit, is useful for those on Window's devices. The iOS app for MS Health is useful IMHO nor does it sync with the Health App.

Fitbit's mission is "To empower and inspire you to live a healthier, more active life. We design products and experiences that fit seamlessly into your life so you can achieve your health and fitness goals, whatever they may be."  The iOS Health App is what Apple users consider seamless.  UP offers Health syncing as do several other of your competitors. There is a clear business case to enable this for your users on iOS devices. From forum posts here and Facebook posts you are losing business because of this (my wife, for example, won't use a Fitbit device because it doesn't show up in her Health App dashboard).

Sync solver is ok but because Fitbit hasn't given them Partner API status it's very limited. Wristband manager, another option, is hit or miss and from the reviews doesn't work for several people.

This is ridiculous!  Now we have fitbit actively supporting a third party work around sync app to do for iPhone users what they refuse to do.  Smiley Frustrated

Please support Healthkit, I understand it isn't stored in the cloud, but that's what the App is for, please support what we are asking you to, we have given y'all hundreds of dollars each.

FitBit should absolutely integrate with the built-in Health app.  I will use my current FitBit until it breaks, but its replacement must integrate with the OS properly.

@zapleahy said "...but there are other areas of product development that our teams are focusing on at the moment."

To sum up what a lot of people are saying, feeling, and thinking: without HealthKit we will not be buying any of those products, so if you want to develop products with a limited customer base, stay on this course. If you want the wider customer base that will include iOS users change course soon.

I remind everyone here - each time Fitbit releases a new version of their iOS app their App Store ratings reset. Please do as I have done and be sure other potential users know of our displeasure with fitbit's missing feature. One star for me. If you have the time, I'd post reviews on commerce sites as well. I see a number of them on Amazon, for instance. People should know what they are getting info here.

Please, FitBit, add support for Apple's HealthKit. You have nothing to loose as you still can keep the data in your app. But as your customers, it's our data too, and we should be able to view it how it works best for us.

Please support Apple's Health Kit! Listen to your customers, Fitbit. No iOS health support is a deal breaker for many people.

Want Fitbit Surge to sync data with Apple iOS 8 Health App and Windows Health Vault.

Nice to see FitBit are not being railroaded into something that only covers one of the 3 phone brands.

Google has the fit app.

Windows has msn health & fitness app

I would rather FitBit take a step back and keep their app as it is and improve it and the devices. Rather than waste time trying to intergrate their app. Thus giving data to the big 3 players....

What is your opinion of fitbit integrating with Windows or Google?

What is your opinion of the Windows app using Cortana to add food. They didn't offer something like that to Druid or iOS users.

I'd like to see Fitbit integrate with iOS' HealthKit in order to sync information to iOS' Health app. It would be helpful to see all of the Fitbit data, such as, but not limited to, steps taken, weight, sleep, & food info in a convenient place with other apps and sources.

 Agreed.

Make your customers happy, JawBone is in the Health App, why not FitBit?

After doing a little research and seeing the other names in fitness tracking, such as Garmin, Jawbone, and Withings, have all incorporated iOS HealthKit into their apps it is a little disconcerting that Fitbit hasn't yet. It leaves me feeling like I backed the wrong horse.

They obviously don't listen to their customers so I have binned my Fitbit One and bought a Withings Pulse Ox.

Never will I support such an arrogant 'we know better than our customers' company again.  Microsoft screwed up with Windows 8 with that attitude, and Fitbit will probably head the same way.

So if you are thinking about a new tracker (fitbit or other) there is company that will rent you 5 trackers you can test.

I have enjoyed using the Fitbit app and currently I have it linked with MyFitnessPal. Your app is easy enough to use but I don't necessarily like the setup of the dash board on my iOS nor do I like how all the data is evaluated. MyFitnessPal allows you to track more things and the data evaluation it does is nicer. However the HealthKit from Apply allows the user even more things that we can track and it is easier to use. More than anything I would like to see Fitbit and Healthkit get connected because of the additional things that can be tracked and for ease of use it would be nice to have everything in one app.

Eagerly awaiting fitbit's decision on this one.  Both platforms work great at certain things -- wish they would integrate!

I have been a fitbit user for a few years now.

First was the One tracker, I loved, Aria scale, and a premium membership so I can crunch all the numbers.

I tried the Basis Peak and took it back after a couple days, didn't give good reliable data.

I just purchased a Surge, I love it so far and it's been a couple of weeks.

I would definitely love to have all my fitbit data integrated into Health kit!!

I would hate to have to get an Apple watch when it comes out and sell off all my Fitbit goodies!

This is way overdue. All the other major and many minor brand fitness device manufactures have an integration. I love my Fitbit, but I'd rather have a consolidated app rather than a unique app for every fitness/health wellness device. I know many other users feel the same and you are starting to law customers as a result of not having integrations. Both iOS and Windows have integrators built in now. There is no excuse not to take advantage of those.

If you don't want to pass info to them, what about making your app the consolidator and reading their data.

As a former Force owner I was all ready to renew my Fitbit Premium, order a new Fitbit Surge for me, and Charge HR for my wife, and exited about my 2015 exercise plan based on the integration with my iOS HealthKit on my 6.

Now I see this relationship has been pushed aside. So, for now, so are my plans to order a new Fitbits and renew. Disappointed isn't strong enough to describe how I feel about this. Fitbit has dropped the ball on this one BIGTIME and I feel betrayed.

I need a full featured fitness tracker with full integration. I will keep shopping. Some decision maker needs to come to their senses and realize we have waited long enough for this product release to be ready to be fully integrated to the fitness app world.

Stepping Up

I have the Fitbit Flex and the Aria, both of which I like very much.  Having recently upgraded to the iPhone 6, I was very disappointed that Fitbit does not integrate with the Health App.  I am adding my voice to the others requesting this integration.

Thanks!

Seriously FitBit? It's a bunch of BS the whole "we'd have to change our app and people would be upset... blah blah blah." CLEARLY the vast majority of your paying customers would love to see this integration. You don't have to change your app at all. ALL of my other fitness apps have integrated and have not changed their operation at all. It just now imports the data YOU ALREADY TRACK into another interface. I didn't stop using ANY of my old apps, I actually use them MORE now that their info can colaborate together. I'm considering dropping all of my fitbit products because now they've become pretty much useless to me since I can get other branded products that will sync with my Health App. Makes me sad, really. I LOVE my scale but if it won't sync, I don't want to use it. I'd rather spend another $100+ on another brand's scale that will. 😞

Im seriously disillusioned with FitBit. I've waited and waited for a UK food database, despite easy food tracking being advertised as a key feature. I've been refused a replacement flex wristband despite it breaking at the seam within the warranty period. Now The high and mighty FitBit don't want to integrate with HealthKit. I'm now so used to using MyFitnessPal to track my food that I'm going to get a better, more integrated activity tracker from a company who takes the views of its customers a little more seriously and I suggest that you all do the same. FitBit is a bit sh!t.

Although the FitBit system and products are very good at what they do, there are certain aspects that we want to do in other apps. For intstance, I prefer to use MyFitnessPal for meal traking and MapMyFitness/UA Record for workout tracking (my personal trainer monitors me in those apps). I have other apps as well for keeping an eye on my health. All this data gets fed into the Health app which I have used to get a dashboard view of the data that is important to me. This includes my calorie intake, steps, exercise, weight management, number of times I've used my asthma inhaler, etc.

Currently, I am using a Jawbone UP24 (given to me by my brother) and would like to eventually replace it with a tracker that also does HRM. Also looking for a tracker for my wife (she refuses to wear a chest strap HRM), she wants HRM integrated too. So the Fitbit Ultra HR just started to become generally available and the hardware meets all of the our needs. But it doesn't integrate with the Health App.

If Fitbit worked with HealthKit, I would at least buy one today for my wife. Most likely for myself as well a bit down the road. But at this point, it looks like I'm going to wait for the UP3 to come out.

(I'm aware of Sync Solver but I'd rather not depend on a 3rd party "fix" on a $150 product)
