Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Come on fitbit, integrate with ios health app

It's incredibly annoying that the fitbit app doesn't sync with the Apple health app. I'm a developer and apparently it isn't that hard to do, there are plenty of third party apps that sync the data but they are limited due to fitbits API limitations unfortunately.

Fitbit, please implement this asap!

Why is this suggestion hidden from the "Top Requested Features" list? It is by far the most voted for feature!

I do love my Fitbit but I'm really interested in getting an Apple Watch due to the additional features that work with my iPhone. I also really don't want to lose my Fitbit challenges w/ friends due to this! Please find a way to integrate the Apple Watch into the Fitbit app so we can continue our friendly challenges while adding more people to them. Please listen to the people who still want to be loyal to your app...

I would love it if the Fitbit app could sync with the Health app!

CowboyBill,

Actually you can share your fitness stats with anyone else having an Apple Watch. It may not be a "competition" per se, but it is a great motivational tool. My group cheers each other on everyday. When someone meets their goals, we send out messages. It's very positive.

AppleWatch won't be for everyone, but it is certainly a great product that I'm very pleased with.

Had fitbit synced with the HealthKit years ago, I never would have left. No I'm actually pleased they "forced" my hand.

I've just bought a Charge 2 to replace a lost Up2, and I see there's still no integration with Apple Health.  Please get on it Fitbit - if Up could do it, surely you can!

I don't really believe that they will ever implement support for Apple's HealthKit. Or any other service they think competes with them. All the requests and complaints here in a relatively hidden forum is not going to change that. If you really want to pressure them you'll need to start complaining to @fitbit and @FitbitSupport on Twitter. As well as their Facebook page. This need to be seen by more then just us unhappy few.

I agree with EricJilot,

in fact I just sent them a tweet and a message on their Fb page.

Based on reviews and what I read in the marketing pages, I was lead to believe that the Aria would share data with the apple healthkit repository.  I was very disappointed to learn after setting everything and now reading here in the community pages that this was omitted.

Please add health kit support as soon as possible.  I might just give my Aria to my sister who uses more fitbit products that I do and will probably go with another connected scale.

Oh I read that, "we always pleased to hear from the user". is that a joke? it is been three years, seen like fitbit do not give a D to the user 's willing. This is just a simple implication that put the apple healt api into the fitbit app. So why do I bother to post this. Of course my next wrist band won't be fitbit's, because I am so annoying how they ignore users willing.

Weighing up pro's and cons of Fitbit vs Garmin. My wife's the got Fitbit but when we realised it doesn't sync with health and other apps we were disappointed.  If this feature isn't going to be added I'll go for the Garmin. Proprietary systems are bad for the user and the vendor. Sort it out Fitbit!

Just got my new Apple Watch 2nd Gen and didn't realise that my Fitbit stuff won't use its data.

Doesnt look like this it going to happen anytime soon either considering the start date of this.

Ive looked online for anything that might link the two but apparently the Fitbit API no longer supports it.

Im pretty shocked that a company like Fitbit (that promote a healthier lifestyle) haven't jumped on the chance to pull in data from any part of their customers daily routine.

If this will provide integration with the Apple Watch it would make me ecstatic!  We have been asking for this for a long time!

I would love to be back in the Fitbit ecosystem. Integrating with HealthKit should let users sync Apple Watch steps with the FitBit app. Since buying my Apple Watch, I haven't bothered re-installing the Fitbit app on my phone or going to the web site, since it will only track steps from my phone now. I don't carry my phone around all the time, so that data isn't very useful or accurate.

It is funny how all the Fitbit people want their information to translate into the Apple format… all I want is for my Apple information to translate into the Fitbit format so I can do challenges with my family… hopefully it will work both ways. I don't want to have to have two trackers, and my Apple Watch offers what I need sans the Fitbit challenges.

It would be awesome to see my Aria data directly in Health App in the Apple-verse. Right now I get the same by linking to MyFitnesspal, which then links to Health Kit data.

It would also be great to be able to use my Apple Watch as a first class citizen in the Fit Bit universe. Currently, I use Sync Solver to push the data from my watch to FitBit, and can no longer participate in challenges, etc.

So... Almost 3 years since this issue was brought up. Any real progress, or are we just flapping our mouths? 😉

Just a thought; is it possible that it’s actually Apple that are making cross-syncing difficult? You could see that they might want to protect sales of their device, Apple Watch, from encroachment by a much cheaper device, Fitbit.
I’m new to this, having been an Up2 user, which did share with Apple Health. The Up2 was no threat to Watch, since it was really just a step & sleep monitor, and you manually put in most other exercise, especially cycling, which barely registered on Up’s stand-alone app. I switched to Fitbit because my Up2 fell apart (again), and the Jawbone company looks to be on its way out.

As a developer I can tell you the simple answer is no. Uncharacteristically for Apple they have made Health integration quite simple to the point that multiple independent developers have already made apps to sync data between the Fitbit and Health (e.g. Sync Solver).

The problem with with all of those implementations is that the Fitbit API only gives up daily summary data, not real time data so it is less than ideal.

Fitbit could do this, quite easily, they are just choosing not too. Probably to protect their own interests, if people can sync all of their data to Health then they have a simple means to move to ANY other fitness tracker. Having all your fitness data "stuck" on Fitbit's servers is a good way to dissuade you from leaving and keeps you forcibly "loyal".

OK, thanks for the information & your specialist knowledge, and the Sync Solver tip, which I might try just out of interest!

It almost seems pointless to ask for this since this thread (and others that are similar) has been around since 2014. This thread alone has almost 5,000 comments of people who want this functionality.

Anyway - my company asked me to test the Apple Watch a couple of years ago. And I unexpectedly loved it. For 3 years I've had friends competing in fitbit step challenges. But never me, because I have an Apple Watch. I finally tried today to see if it was possible to link the two in some way. At least the steps - I don't care about the rest of the data (though the 4 minutes I spent in the fitbit app had me rethinking that). Even though the forums said I could use the mobiletrack feature in the app to count the steps from my watch, I can't. So now I've spent about an hour reading, downloading, and being disappointed when all my effort was for naught.

You know what seems stupid? Wearing 2 devices on my wrist. Or even just wearing 2 devices that collect the same data even if they aren't in the same spot. Which is why everytime I think about looking into a fitbit I stop myself. Why would I choose to wear a piece of technology that does LESS than the technology I currently wear? Maybe it's a good thing they don't integrate since my daily average is only around 5,000 steps. Fitbit certainly doesn't want me to be encouraged to move more. Why would they? They're not a company that is supposed to care about people's activity! It's not like they make devices for people to keep track of this stuff! Oh, wait....

I'm sure the justification is that fitbit is somehow in direct competition with Apple. But until they make a device that does more than record activity and health data they'll never beat Apple, or Samsung, or anyone who makes a multipurpose wearable. So please fitbit, stop being stupid and find a way to integrate with the watch, or even just the health app (I know there's a thread specific for that too). Maybe try caring about those of us that are interested in your software/app (which I very much am, even after only 4 minutes). I'll never use the software/app though until I can see my Apple Watch step & calorie data. Please please please. And if it seems as though I'm begging excessively, I am - because 5,000+ people asking doesn't seem to be doing the trick.
