Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I'd like to add a vote for iOS HealthKit support.

Then you should actually do that...

Added my vote. Lost my second fitbit last year and went absent--used the iphone apps for steps and a polar for HR and both left me wanting. Picked up the ChargeHR and have been liking it so far. Went to do what I've done with every other tool so far--get its data to mingle with AppleHealthKit and.. nothing.. really? Really? I mean as a developer whose looked at healthkit this is simple, and it is not here? You're making me buy someone elses tool to log my health together, and you don't allow HR information so its incomplete? WTH are you all doing? How is this helping the community? It's my data.. I like your tools but this decision feels more a circus than something helpful.

Please connect the last dots and let my data out naturally.

Please allow us to use our data with other apps: the Fitbit app and HealthKit are different and have different scopes and uses, being able to use them both allows to see/measure data and show progress in different ways, both useful to users.

Plus, Fitbit is already compatible with a fairly wide range of other apps and vendors, why exclude HealthKit? Sounds like a targeted decision against Apple rather than not seeing the benefits the Apple platform can bring to Fitbit users...

I think it would be really usefull if you could link all the info between the Fitbit app and the Health app inbedded in IOS. This way you don't have to manually input stuff in 2 different Apps.
It would also help if you could link fitness apps (like Fitness Point where you log weight training for example) so that the Fitbit app can log active minutes and additional calories burned during trainings that don't involve so much bouncing about.
What do you guys think?

My wife & I recently got the new Charge HR device and were disappointed to learn it does NOT integrate with the HealthKit app on our iPhones. Other apps like Runkeeper and MyFitnessPal do! Fitbit has the capability of tracking vital data like heart rate and sleep which HealthKit can tabulate along with the physical data such as steps & distance and all the nutritional data from your food log. Fitbit tracks all this data, but the beauty of HealthKit is all the data can be presented on the dashboard which can be easily viewed by scrolling down through the physical, vitals Ana nutrition panels.

If Fitbit chooses NOT to integrate with HealthKit, some other app will device will begin tracking the same data and apps like MapMyFitness that log sleep data and integrate with HealthKit will be good alternatives to someone who wants to see it all layed out in one place!

It would be nice.

Just on this page we have people saying they got new fitbits and then discovered it didn't have Health Kit and were disappointed.

Once more people know that it does not have it, fitbit might see different sales numbers.

Price cometh before the fall.

My flex has developed a fault and although I've been happy with it I need to replace it. The lack of integration between Fitbit and my IOS devices means you lost a customer.

I have been looking at the Fitbit scale, but after finding out it doesn't support Health Kit I'm going to look elsewhere. I'll do the same when I'm ready to replace my Fitbit Flex.

Just got a Charge HR, so when will HealthKit be supported? I already have apps for weight, lack of activity reminders, food and workouts which Fitbit can't/doesn't track (swimming and weight lifting)... All things I see part of a grander eco-system which Apple rightly centralized and for which I don't see Fitbit supporting. Lack of integration is very depressing and if Fitbit is a health related company I would see it wanting to do more, at least to appease folks emotionally who are trying to make a difference in their lives.

Would be great just to have the Fitbit app read my weight and write calories.

I used to want Fitbit to intergrate with the Health app but now I don't care. I have other apps that do sync to this app and I am not impressed.

I would love to have the Fitbit app share its information with the Healthkit app. I recently bought the Charge HR, and I used to use the Garmin Vivofit.. however, Garmin synced with Apple's Health app.. meaning all my data is stored there from the Garmin Connect app. However, with the Fitbit app, I am now not able easily see my old improvements and information without having to switch between my apps. Me, and many other's will continue rating your app with just 1 lousy star until this happens.

EDIT: I would also like to add the fact that you integrated Microsoft HealthVault... but not Apple Health. That's discriminating.

Kind regards,

Norwegian.

Major Hospitals are using Healthkit and over 600 developers have integated. Still think this isn't worth your developers' time? C'mon guys!

Thanks for the previous link. I received my Fitbit as part of a free promotion and I'm starting to think it's just a stop-gap solution for the next 6-12 months.

I was planning to get a Charge HR but finding out there is no support for Health App I will not bother. There are so many comments here asking for support it seems to me that FitBit are not listening to their customers needs.  Many of us have several items that link to Health App and we therefore want any other health/fitness item to do the same so we have one item for all the stats.  I will look elsewhere, it is a showstopper and is a shame as otherwise the Charge HR looks like an fantastic device.

So, haven't posted here in some time. Just checking in to say that I got a Jawbone Up Move and haven't used my Fitbit One in months. Happy as can be. Bye, Fitbit!

I would really like to be able to sink my FitBit Charge HR with my Health App on my iPhone 5c. I like the ability to look at my recorded data from the FitBit from several different view points and see what I do differently on weeks I lose 2lbs versus weeks I lose 0.5lbs and make adjustments accordingly. In 29 weeks I have lost a total of 38.4lbs and although I am over halfway to my optimal BMI I still want to be able to use my data to stay healthy and maintain my results. Sorry I am in the medical field and I enjoy analyzing data from many view points. 😊

Well,

It has been a month since anyone from Fitbit saw fit to post. I don't know if they are still paying any attention to this. I have my doubts.

It is very sad. Anyone have tally of new Charge owners that have buyer's remorse over this issue?

I love Jawbone UP's integration with IFTTT.

If you have a fitbit or Misfit you can have your data added to Jawbone UP. Talk about a way to keep people in their ecosystem, even with someone else's hardware. That kind of consideration for their customers will win me over.

Well, I jumped ship over a month ago and can't be happier. So I guess I ought to thank Fitbit for dragging their heels over HealthKit integration, otherwise I would've just stuck with them as it was "good enough" at the time.

But Withings... so much better. And so better integrated. And works how I want it to work (Dealmaker), as opposed to how a company thinks I should be using their product (Dealbreaker).

I'm a relaively new fitbit Flex user who up to this point has been happy with the product. I was considering the expanding with the fitbit scales and possibly upgrding my tracker to the model with a heart rate monitor. However with the news that Fitbit are not looking at intergrating with the iOS Heath app I have definitely stopped considering any upgrade & expansion plans untill I see full intergration with the Health App.

Your business is primarily big data and finding new ways of generating it, be careful you dont miss the boat and annoy the source of the data you need in some strategic move to win a battle on whos gear they are going to wear.

I have my doubts they are even reading this or looking at the votes.

It is the most commented on and voted for feature, but they are still in a holding pattern.

It has been over a month since a Moderator even said boo on the subject, not even a placating, "We are listening."

At this point, they are doubling down on a bad bet, and hoping that they will get dealt good cards in the future. They don't want to loose face by admitting they were wrong.

Oh well, another company that was once an industry leader joining the halls of history.

Say hello to Blackberry for me.

Fitbit please comment, is this feature coming soon or not. If not I along with others will go with another product. Don't comment on this thread and will assume it is a feature we will not get.
