Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I totally agree. I don't believe Fitbit have any intention of integration
IOS 9.3 released and nothing from them. Maybe best to take to twitter for
them to respond

Twitter is a great idea. The forum is a nice place to vent but it
is totally ineffective. People only come here after they realize they've
bought a device without apple health integration. It's a big at
this point.

What hashtag should we use? #DontBuyFitbit ?

Couldn't wait any longer....bought an Apple Watch and I'm very pleased so far.  Goodbye FitBit, I'm sorry to part like this but I just couldn't wait for you any longer.....

I lost my Flex two weeks ago. I was considering buying another. This morning, my boss sits an Apple Watch on my desk and says, "here you go".  What am I to do now that my new watch doesn't sync and my Flex is lost? I guess I am out!

Arrogance. And not listening to their customers. Why doesn't Fitbit also incorporate blood pressure readings? I wear a Fitbit to keep healthy as I have hypertension - Qardio has a very sexy looking BP monitor and a step counter and a set of scales and they're integrated and "advertised" in the Apple Health app i.e. when you click on the blood pressure widget this pops up with apps that are integrated...FitBit needs to keep up with the competition.

I'm seriously thinking about returning my fitbit due to this missing integration. The data cannot be accessed anyway in the fitbit app. It's quite an useless app, I think.
Off-topic, but I also think that Charge HR produces wrong measures and is way to sensitive according step counting (scratching my neck produces lots of steps although I sit on a chair). I'm not really satisfied with my fitbit... 😞

Dito for me; I´m voting for an integration with Apple Health. It´s been almost two years and Health Kit is now an obvious and natural way to collect and review your health data for so many iPhone users.

"The question we want you to keep in mind when providing feedback is: What do you imagine a HealthKit integration would entail and what do you expect to get out of it?"

^^And that question has been answered hundreds of times. Anyone one here who thinks there is still a chance of integration is deluding themselves. And Fitbit is growing. As a company they don't need integration. Anyone who needs integration go elsewhere. You aren't going to find it here. If anyone only wants steps in HealthKit you can use UA Record to do it. It reads fitbits steps and puts them in HealthKit.

Just got my Fitbit, and just assumed it integrates with Apple Health. Today you expect it. Can't be a technical issue, must be competition concern. Please Open up and share.

I just got this response from FitBit and sent my own rant, I mean opinon, back to them. I don't think this feauture will ever get added guys, I'm going to find an alternative before I give a company that doesn't listen to it's customers any money. I chatted with one and asked to speak to a manager.  They even said it's Apple's responsibilty to "approve" the integration.  I talked to an Apple rep as well about this issue and he said the onus is soley on FitBit to integrate with HealthKit.  But they are too sore because of the Apple Watch so they will continue to ignore this thread.  Just thought I'd make this response public so everyone can see what FitBit will say when you actually push the issue.

Hi jamipie831,

We appreciate your patience for our response regarding HealthKit.

If you want to integrate the Fitbit and HealthKit apps, you'll need to buy a third party app called Sync Solver. This will help you get the two talk or sync with each other.

The reason why you need that is due to Fitbit and Apple having a failing out due to Apple bringing out the Apple Watch. Sync Solver will do the job.

Please let us know should you have additional questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Fitbit Team

Hi there,
iPhones and iOS are like the most common phone platform out there, this reason is ludicrous.  If you're going to introduce an app for iOS and say it's compatible on your packages, you can't pick and choose what features you want.  iOS8 introduced HealthKit almost 2 years ago in June and we are now on iOS9.  To say it's compatible and have an app is to say that all the features work!  All your competitors sync with HealthKit and you even sync with Google's similar platform.  What happens when Google makes a watch?  I think you also sync up to Windows phones, and Windows makes a watch.  What sense does this make?  There's 125 pages on the forum of people saying they are pissed FitBit doesn't sync and urging people to sell theirs and wishing they could return them.  In the long run, being spiteful to Apple won't boost your sales.  This reminds me of the old saying of cutting off your nose to spite your face.  People are going to buy FitBits and see they don't sync up and then return it and buy an Apple Watch, because guess what?  IT DOES!  Sync Solver doesn't help and you have to manually use it and it doubles up the steps you take with your iPhone.  This is a retarded suggestion for a company to make.  I should be able to take my data wherever I want, however I want and you shouldn't be able to own it.  Especially after I spend over $100+ on your product!  You're telling a customer to go out an buy another third party program because you refuse to make it standard because you're mad at Apple?!?  And this half-ass stance you've taken to inform your customers is the most disrespectful of all.  Every time you ask, the canned response is to go to a forum that no one from FitBit is even addressing.  Nowadays, a competitor is born everyday there are literally hundreds of companies that compete with FitBit.  Your brand is synonymous with "fitness tracker" just like Kleenex and Jello are.  You're practically handing Apple customers with this feud you've started.  Just because Apple supported and sold your product in it's stores before it made a competition product is a dumb reason to withhold this feature.  Do you think you're getting back at Apple somehow?  Like next time I buy a phone, I'll go with something else because it works with my FitBit?  No one thinks this way!  The fitness tracker is secondary to the phone which can actually act as a fitness tracker.  You would get more support with your app if it did work as expected and then people would purchase a FitBit because, hey, it works well with my other tech.  All you're doing is hurting the customer and giving Apple more customers.  As a company, you have to decide if you have a responsibility to be truthful and inform your customers if you never intend to do something instead of straddling the fence and adopting a "waiting and seeing" mentality.  I intend to "wait and see" if you add this feature and then if you don't buy the time I intend to buy, then I will likely be buying an Apple Watch.  Even though I like your app better and even though I adore the new Blaze and the fact that you FINALLY made a heart rate monitor that has a change out band.  I just won't support a company that thinks it's ok to treat customers this way.  When I asked to speak to someone higher up the food chain, I really wanted to speak to someone else.  I really do hope that this message gets forwarded on to someone.  I think you make a great product but your stance on this issue is ridiculous as do the thousands of other people that have voiced their comments in FitBit's forum that FitBit is ignoring.

I just got a Fibtbit and I'm shocked to discover that it doesn't sync with HealthKit. It's a simple integration that's been available for almost two years. FitBit's refusal to include this is making me more like to ditch them for a competing product.

I'd like to see the Fitbit information saved in the iOS health app.  The reason is, I'd like to see a way for my activity to be synched with My Fitness Pal on my iphone so I don't have to enter it in.

My Fitness Pal can synch with the apple Health information but Fitbit is not listed in the apps you can choose to link with there.

Thank you!

Bump this. Apple Health aggregate all data from multiple sources. This is a must for me before recommending Fitbit to other users of iOS (iPhone/iPad).

Pretty amazing that Fitbit support recommends Sync Solver when Fitbit refuses to give Sync Solver access to Fitbit's Partner API!

Sync Solver does the job. All of my FitBit stats are transferring to Apple Health in real time. I stand solid with FitBit dashboard. The view on my MacBook is excellent.

Integration with health app please!

Please impement this feature, Fitbit is a great app but it really needs to keep up with it's competition that allows Apple Health Kit integration.

Of course different model Fitbits with features such as the heart monitor will input this data as well into Health kit while models like the Charge w/o HR monitor will not.

Health Kit has been around for more than 2 years, please program its integration in your next app update.

Yes please. I want the Fitbit and iOS health combined so it will sync when I do not wear the fit bit. I want a way for my phone to keep track when I do not wear the fit bit.

I recently bought a Fitbit assuming it seamlessly integrates into Apple Health Kit; what a disappointment to find out it doesn't.

So please make an integration available soon, Health Kit has been around for > 2 years. This not only would boost user satisfaction but will also a big driver suggesting fitbit for health research projects - under current circumstances a no-go for Fitbit.Man Frustrated

@McStone, I'd recommend returning your Fitbit while you can if HealthKit integration is important to you. Fitbit has been nonresponsive to this request for the last 22 months. There's absolutely no technical reason why Fitbit cannot do this. Companies who care about their customers' needs like Garmin, Withings, Jawbone are able to do this.

If you can afford it, invest in an Apple Watch (or wait for the next version to come out). You'll be able to get Apps and Dashboards that access HealthKit's core data in visual ways that's significant to your needs. You'll be investing in a system that's open and far superior to Fitbit's.

Don't make the same mistake that many of us have made over a year ago: keep a recently purchased Fitbit with the hope that they'll make HealthKit integration happen. There aren't any indications that this is going to happen. So, get your money back and invest in products that already integrate with HealthKit. Do your research. They are out there and are far superior to Fitbit's hardware and software.
