Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

If Fitbit would do this, they would have the respect from the comunity with future devices they release.

Not onley integration to the iOS health -app, but also "Android-health-database" -app.

The data is users information, not fitbits, the users choose how they want to share there data.

The hardware is also users, when they have bought it, not fitbits.. and so on.

I do understand that Fitbit wants to have there users depended on fitibit apps/cloud and nowehere else, but.. thats an old way of thinking.

Exampel Apples healthkit, apple wants to have all users app health data in one place that can share data to other apps. Some apps may in time go under, but Apple healthkit has then all that old health apps data that can be synct to future apps to share and so on, if user wants to re-install data to other feuture health -apps.

Fitbit please concentrate to make the best hardware for fitnes, here you still are number one, dont concentrate to much on Fitbit "cloud",try to fix the Apple health -app integration, that is what your iOS users want, as you se with over 4000 thumbs on this request.

"threatening to leave them or spread bad word about their app will have very little influence."

I bought competing hardware because I need a tracker that works with HealthKit (which works with my blood glucose monitor). The whole reason I got a Fitbit in 2010 was to help manage my diabetes.

I think it is a public service to write reviews saying it does not support HealthKit, because Fitbit is not upfront on their package about it.

So many people come to this thread after getting a new device and discovering it does not work as expected.

In fact my advice to any shopping for a tracker, download the app first and see what data they sync.

And while they might  read and write to HealthKit? They might only read steps from the iPhone and not other sources.

And a last thought, it is not threat to state the obvious. Whether a user wants or needs HealthKit integration they will get a device that will do it.

Many stated that they would never have considered getting something else it was not for this one issue.

I was an early adopter of Fitbit, back when you had preorder their first tracker from this site. I got one for my spouse. When upgraded mine, I gave my old one to my mother.

Now i have bought myself, spouse, child, and mother trackers from other companies.

It it is just a fact.

Please add Fitbit data to Apple Health. There are thousands of your users who are asking for this. If I knew previously it didn't support apple health I wouldn't have bought one.

So I just purchased a Flex 2, thinking it would give me a stealth option to get more detailed info in Health, but it appears I should have investigated better. Since this topic has been running almost 3 years, I don't feel they are going to support this anytime soon. I gave it a thumbs up anyway, just to join the thousands before me. Really Fitbit, do you even care about your customers with all of the current competition out there?

I'm really disappointed and considering returning this and getting a Misfit Ray, as it seems to do basicly the same, but it does offers Health support, much better batterylife and a decent amount of different straps for men.

PLEASE! The FitBit app is awesome, but it kills me that it can't read and write from HealthKit. I want to use the FitBit app as my primary dashboard, but I sometimes use other apps for tracking other items and would love to see FitBit play nicely with HK.

It really is a shame that Fitbit doesn't support this; instead there are 5 or more 3rd party apps that promise to bridge the gap and sync data for us - none appear to be wholly effective when I read reviews, and all are at a download fee so I don't know if it will do what I want until I've spent money. So disappointing.

I swear FitBit staff have got this thread set to hidden, it's amazing to me how this feature request is still being ignored.  Simply adding support for HealthKit integration would make me *more* likely to stay with FitBit, not less - unfortunately, since that's not happened, I'm going to switch to a company that does support HealthKit when I get my next device.

FitBit will end up the Palm of health trackers.

Respondng to:  "I couldn't care less that fitbit works with Apple Watch. I do not see why fitbit should support hardware from other vendors, they have their own."

I completely understand that Fitbit wants to sell their devices.  However, Fitbit already supports hardware from other vendors via MobileTrack.  Steps from my iPhone are logged into the fitbit app.

"MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit tracker by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. MobileTrack does not monitor floors, sleep, or active minutes. "

In my opinion, the Apple Watch is a smart watch, and an extension of an iPhone - versus a Fitbit, which has mobile trackers and fitness watches.  It's really frustrating that steps from my phone do log, but steps recorded on my watch do not.

Here's an idea fitbit - allow Apple Watch steps to log for free, and then have a "premium" service to allow floors, sleep, active minutes, and workouts to be logged from an Apple Watch?  There are millions of Apple Watches out there.  Why not tap into this market as a potential revenue source?  Fitbit already has a great reputation for a world class iOS app and fitness ecosystem.  People will want their Apple Watch data in this system.

Look at Google - they don't restrict Gmail to their Pixel phone...

And I also feel strongly that the Fitbit data should integrate with Apple Health.

Just got the Charge 2 today. I'm amazed it doesn't work with iPhone health app! An obvious thing I would have though but it appears you've been "considering" it for years now. I use the health app a lot so now have to consider and alternative wearable and send this one back. Unbelievable!

Would love to see this happen. I know they're not listening to us by seemingly ignoring all of our requests to integrate our data the way the users want, but we can all dream. I'd love to know why we can't though.

Hi
I am using Sync Solver from the App Store at the moment, while not ideal it does work. Only thing is you need to press sync in the app to transpose the information. It will do for now but if your on twitter pester then in there too, I am 😀

There is a good discussion that should be linked to this topic.

Fitbit should move on this integration before they cause customers to consider the compitition.

Please integrate Aria data with iOS health app. It would be great to have one dashboard to see all of my fitness data in one spot!

Ugh! After using a Fitbit One for a couple years, my wife upgraded me to a Fitbit Charge 2 yesterday. I wanted a watch and one that would track my steps, heart rate, etc. I had been holding out for an Apple Watch for the longest time. However, those are really expensive, and when I really considered it, I realized I would never use all the iPhone-like apps and features of the Apple Watch. I always have my iPhone on me and would prefer to use it for any apps. I only needed/wanted a wristband wearable that would show me the time and track my steps and HR. So, I settled for the Charge 2.

As it had been a couple years since I had purchased my Fitbit One and set it up on my phone, I had completely forgotten about how Fitbit does (or doesn't) sync with Apple Health and other apps. When I set up my Charge 2 last night, I was really bummed to realize that Fitbit STILL refuses to integrate with Apple Health.

This is flippin' insane! I'm sick and tired of devices and apps that refuse to integrate. I'm tired of having to use third-party apps and/or devices to bridge the gap. I'm tired of having to manually transfer data between different apps. I just want it all to sync and be available for review in one place. I HATE having to open, sync, and review multiple apps to get at all my health data!

So, now I'm stuck with the decision of keeping my Charge 2 and just putting up with Fitbit's refusal to integrate, or return the darned thing and pony up the cash for the Apple Watch (or any other fitness tracker that actually plays nice with Apple). I will be up-voting the feature request for Apple integration, although I will not be holding my breath that Fitbit will pay attention or even care what it's customers think/desire. We're all just revenue streams to them anyway (Fitbit, Apple, et al).

I tweeted to twitter also and they sent me back here again.

I would like my charge 2 to write to apple health so everything is in one place what good is a health app if nothing can write to it.

I guess you got to have an app for every thing (which of my 30 apps is this on) pretty soon you'll have to have a phone just for your apps!!!!

I'd like to see Fitbit integrate with Apple health both ways...while my Fitbit is charging it's helpful to still be able to count steps using my phone and have them sync up with my Fitbit data.

Do it please.

But you won't.  Since this has thousands of people wanting it, and it was first requested in 2014, it's pretty obvious you have zero intention of responding to the needs of your customers.

But hey, have a great day, y'all!
