Integration with Google Fit

I'd very much like my fitbit data available in Google Fit. I use a different app for food logging, but Fitbit's step counter, sleep tracker, and aria are great.

If their data was available through the new Google Fit it would be fantastic.

Was planning on getting the newer Flex but I've been holding off on getting it until Google Fit integration happens.

Please do it! There is no reason not to.

We've been asking for this to happen for three years now and Fitbit is continually failing to make it happen. What's up Fitbit? Its literally not that hard to write code for this. Perhaps you should hire better/smarter/more talented developers.

I cannot comprehend that after 3 years of asking, this still isn't done. Since every other fitness app I use works with Google Fit, I didn't realize until after I got a Fitbit that there was no integration. As the outlier, it's not the app I'm changing it's the tracking hardware.  I love my fitbit and don't want to buy another product, but this nonaction on Fitbit's part shows that it doesn't love its users back.

To be honest, as long as Fitbit Premium subscription service is still a
thing then they are never going to sync with Google Fit or Apple Health.
They are obviously making more money from that then they are losing money
from techie people who skip the Fitbit because they want to sync with other
apps.

Please add an integration or any kind of support between Fitbit and Google fit!

Thanks

@AmritaFitbit: Any idea when this will be ever picked up? Rather than the comments increasing daily, we don't see any updates from FitBit till now. Even after 3 years. Is FitBit sleeping on this? If you care to reply.

Arun

@ArunMohandas: Don't you realise? They don't want people to use any other fitness app than their own. They also sit out the top request for Apple Healthkit integration for years. The only solution is to spend your money on a tracker from a different company.

+1 Please integrate with Google fit. Makes no sense to not be able to track bc across app/platform.

Still no news about the integration of FitBit with other popular systems? The request here was made in 2014, I don't see any update since then!

It's clear that there is a very conservative business strategy behind this choice, but it seems also suicidal. Your startup market and share value have been dropping big time in recent months...

Do Fitbit even listen to the wants of their customers? Obviously not otherwise this would have been implemented by now.

Bumping this thread despite my fast waning confidence in Fitbit.

I've had a Charge HR for years, and it's been great up until earlier this year. Heart rate tracking during cardio is one of the primary reasons I bought it, and over the years it's been accurate enough for me (within a few bpm compared to manual counts). More recently, the HR tracking has become wildly inaccurate, by as much as 90bpm at times, which in turn makes the calorie burn calculations utterly useless too as I have to manually compensate for it.

So now I'm looking at alternatives, with Garmin being one of them. Frankly, it's very unlikely that I will buy another Fitbit device, because I've lost trust in the capabilities of the hardware. The software and service element, on the other hand, I have no issues with. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only person who is in a similar position of liking the software, but not having much love for the hardware.

Here's the deal: At the moment, I'm a Fitbit customer, albeit one who paid a single price years ago and nothing since then; I am still within the Fitbit ecosystem, but I have one foot out of the door. If Fitbit can offer a subscription based service which will allow full compatibility with third party hardware, that would convert me from someone who made a one-time purchase years ago, to a source of recurring revenue over the course of many years (provided the service exists and is fit for purpose). It would mean that I buy hardware from another brand, yes, but it also means that Fitbit gets more revenue from me over n-years than they have since my original purchase.

Given the company's broader push towards enterprise, and their core "mass" market being casual users, I suspect the decline in hardware sales will not be a catastrophic cliff-edge (though if I'm wrong, Fitbit has much bigger hardware problems than even I imagined) and will be offset significantly by long-term subscription revenue instead.

It's difficult to envisage a scenario where Fitbit actually loses here - the only concern is when someone who currently has a Fitbit leaves for another brand and also leaves the ecosystem; and by opening up compatibility, Fitbit actually stems that outflow. Every other scenario is a win:

  1. User not part of the Fitbit ecosystem - would get a new app to integrate their data (subscription revenue), could potentially buy Fitbit hardware
  2. User has only Fitbit hardware and is happy - No reason to change
  3. User has Fitbit hardware and third party hardware - Would be able to integrate their third party data (subscription revenue)
  4. User has only Fitbit hardware and is unhappy - Would be able to switch hardware, but integrate third party data (subscription revenue) and doesn't leave the ecosystem entirely, leaving the door open to other future purchases.

I believe it's even congruous with Fitbit's attempt at moving upmarket with a smartwatch (one that appears to be a lovechild of the Blaze and Surge); it's a move towards the mass-market. Full compatibility with third-party hardware ensures that Fitbit still has something to offer the more niche enthusiast market too.

Seems like this company is actually not listening. How many years has this post been up? And you're simply relying on people being frustrated enough to navigate through forums in order to offer this compatibility? It's the reason I'm leaving this ecosystem—good luck on that new smart watch you're launching because I want none of it unless I can take my data where I want to go.

It has been way too long. Please work on this.

I too would like the integration.

That being said, Fitbit, like most companies, is competing against other companies rather than cooperating in the interest of their consumers.

Another win for capitalism.
