Let us delete in-app notifications/messages

This is clogging up my iphone. I have a year or more worth of useless Fitbit notification messages I'd like to shed. I saw a 'solved' notice in here from a year ago stating it was resolved by stating there is no solution. This is simply ignoring the myriads of request/votes of customer requests/concerns to fix it. Fitbit should have had a REAL solution by now and apparently do not. In reality this problem has not been resolved but simply is being ignored by the company/moderator. The solution 'solved' to put a vote in ideas does not address the real concern or issue at hand. What's the point of a community forum if Fitbit does not listen to its customers? The thread should have flagged Fitbit/moderator to produce a real fix, we're still waiting.

When you say 'eventually disappear' how long is eventually? I have
messages that are over a year old, and nothing has disappeared. I for one
still want to be able to delete them. This is not a difficult piece of
code, I am baffled why FitBit can't do this!

And they continue for the next 3 years, and Liz will occasionally threw us a small useless tidbit.
By the way, if I Romberg correctly there was supposed to be this super-duper fantastic update last month, all I noticed was a create family account setting. Nothing earth shattering as I was made to believe.

So is everyone else. My opinion is that Fitbit just does not want to....they’d rather have us keep complaining.

So true, so true, and will continue to get other people’s money. They have no incentive to change!
They will continue to do nothing just like they have for the past few years on this problem.
If I remarried correctly there was supposed to be a super-duper update last month. All I noticed was a Create Family Account section, nothing earth shattering.

I need to apologize, Romberg and remarried should have been remembered! Spell check strikes again. I never know which messages can not be posted or “your attempt failed”, so I’ll add what I think did not go through, my apologies to whomever I posted them to.

This is just ridiculous there is no reason for us not to be able to delete notifications/messages immediately if not sooner!  We’ve been complaining for years, but Liz ( our moderator) does not agree.

to OliB977, I’ve talked to some coding friends and they too are baffled as to why this can not be corrected quickly.  I also know Fitbit can delete these if they want to....sometime in October 2017, they deleted all my notifications from 2/27/17 until 8/6/2017, but everyone from then until I turned them off 11/11/17, thanks to JohnnyRow, is still clogging up my phone/pad. So how long until these are deleted? At least greater than 7 months, which is 7 months too long. When will they be deleted? Not a clue!!

Again, FitBit has our money. They have no incentive to act.

Hello SUGAR1924
Thank you for your kind advice. However I would like to state that I HAVE
DONE in the past and IMMEDIATELY AGAIN after reading your worldly advice to
the rest if us nincampoops (a.k.a computer illiterate). The setting gear
on The Fitbit website does not allow this.

Please. Did you really consider that the countless people who are BEGGING
RELETENTLESSLY WITH COMPLETE FRUSTRATION HAVD NOT TRIED THIS (AND
EVERYTHING ELSE)?

Perhaps you have not received notifications or messages because you haven't
posted anything? Or blocked others ???

And as for YOU FITBIT MODERATORS.
All you are doing with this ridiculous stubborn approach (as someone
correctly said - you have already "GOT OUR MONEY ")

IS CAUSING INFIGHTING AMONGST

Happy now ?

As the name says, Community Forum is for users for complain to each other about poorly designed features or lack of the same. Fitbit doesn't read these posts and expects community to do their job and help other users. While we can help each other giving tips how to achieve certain things, we cannot fix what company broke.

The 30 days rule is simply ridiculous and doesn't work. I've tried several suggestions, reset my iPhone, deleted app and removed it from the backup, restored again, but notifications keep coming back. I even logged into another phone that never had Fitbit app before and it again successfully pulled hundreds of notifications from the server starting 10/06/17, so I have almost a full year of useless notifications.

This is a major flaw in the mobile app and it keeps accumulating garbage on my phone.

I'm sorry, but going through dozen+ steps to disable all possible notifications is NOT a solution.

This is a trivial CRUD functionality that any basic app should have and it's a shame Fitbit didn't do this from the moment notifications were introduced in the first place.

This is such an easy fix and yet, with ~500 votes they keep ignoring it and the issue has been reported more than a year ago in numerous places! Instead, they decided to add more useless features and generate more bloated data?!

I registered for the forum just so I can vote for this one hoping someone might see it, but the number of annoyed Fitbit users is actually much higher as majority is not active here.

How vigilant Fitbit is shows the recent development of GDPR. While other companies went above and beyond to meet the GDPR compliance, Fitbit remains reluctant and offers user access to only a small subset of data being collected and as far as user's control over that same data goes it barely exists.

Shame on you Fitbit!

Dear Menapause,
Please directly email, JohnnyRow he’s the one who helped me. Still can’t delete notifications or messages but I haven’t received anything since I received his advise.

Now that I agree with! This is poor customer service from the Fitbit team and I’m sure there are more than 400 people who can not tolerate these inane notifications. I have actually voted and seen the vote count go DOWN after my thumbs up!
As many people have said, Fitbit has your money and people are lining up to buy more so why care? The business is booming, so just eschew and give lip service to us. I unfortunately keep seeing this type of behavior in many successful businesses.

Hi everyone, thanks for your comments and discussion. It is clear that you would still like the ability to delete messages and in-app notifications, so I will leave this suggestion open to continue collecting votes and resurface this to our development team. Thanks again for your patience.

How about fixing the voting button so that when I click on it it increases instead of decreasing?? I've tried to vote repeatedly in the past and never had my vote counted, as the number goes DOWN!

There are threads on this going back years. It's clear FitBit isn't going
to act. Evidently retaining customers isn't a super high priority.

Hi Liz,
We’ve been telling you this far too long for this not to done. What appears to the problem?

I’ve seen that and commented on that too. I just can’t believe that after 1 1/2 years there’s only about 500 yes votes! I know I’ve received more yes responses than that.

I’ve been saying that for sometime now. In fact I found Liz’s response today rather insulting.

Is this a bad joke on the part of the senior executives at FitBit? TOTALLY disgusting and child-like!!

Stepping Up

It was several weeks, maybe months, when I went to the Fitbit community forum to see if there were some way to delete old notifications from the app on my iPhone. I posted a comment to that effect and have since been part of a daisy chain of others asking for the same capability. Some want the notifications to stop entirely and the old ones to go away. Others, like me, simply want to be able to delete the old ones entirely, preferably en masse, and delete the ones I get each day (!) after I've received whatever motivation/gratification they have instantly given me. People write to this forum daily, it appears. But it was only TODAY that I became aware that I was supposed to click to "vote" that I wanted this acted upon. I immediately voted and the count is now 486, which seems inordinately low for the amount of interest this topic stream has generated. Someone urged voting often, but it appears that a second click simply removes your first click and the count goes down. Good grief! The vote mechanism is as flawed as the notifications app. I hope someone—hopefully many someones—at Fitbit are paying attention to the commentary and not just looking at that wonky vote counter. There are a big number of disgruntled Fitbit users who were probably at one time enthusiastic Fitbit wearers. How hard can it be to tweak the app to allow a swipe/delete function on the notifications function? So please, everyone in the forum, click the counter ONCE to vote on this issue if you have not done so already. And please, Fitbit, note the frustration among users and give some indication when this will be addressed or some rationale explanation of why this can't be done. Thank you.
