Let us delete in-app notifications/messages

This is clogging up my iphone. I have a year or more worth of useless Fitbit notification messages I'd like to shed. I saw a 'solved' notice in here from a year ago stating it was resolved by stating there is no solution. This is simply ignoring the myriads of request/votes of customer requests/concerns to fix it. Fitbit should have had a REAL solution by now and apparently do not. In reality this problem has not been resolved but simply is being ignored by the company/moderator. The solution 'solved' to put a vote in ideas does not address the real concern or issue at hand. What's the point of a community forum if Fitbit does not listen to its customers? The thread should have flagged Fitbit/moderator to produce a real fix, we're still waiting.

Yes it is! But Fitbit and our moderator, Liz, are not doing a thing about it!

Fitbit obviously has no interest in fixing this. I was trying to decide whether to replace my old Fitbit with a new one or get an Apple Watch. This makes my decision so much easier. I will miss my Fitbit community, but I don't need this app to eat up all of my phone's memory.

I agree. When I need to replace this it won't be with another Fitbit product. And I'll wager that 5 years from now the problem still will not be fixed!

Hi there,

I really think there should be an easier way of deleting messages from friends, rather than having to wait 30 days for them to automatically disappear. Would you please consider having a "delete all" button?? Thanks so much!

Very irritating not to be able to delete messages. I shouldn't have to see an inappropriate message for 30 days. This should be an easy fix, Fitbit! And judging by the number of postings I've seen about this issue I am far from alone in wanting this feature.

Thank you.

Hello All
If I could tell you how many people have responded in agreement saying "YES
"PLEASE
"WE'VE BEEN ASKING"
'WE'VE BEEN WAITING"

And you're all correct. 😞

STILL NO ACTION FROM FITBIT.
WHY? I BEG, WITH TEARS IN MY EYES,

WHY IS THIS NOT POSSIBLE ???
Sugar1924

BECAUSE FITBIT DOES NOT WANT TO. WE ALL KNOW IT CAN BE DONE IF THEY WANTED TO DO IT!

Based on the customer comments regarding the HUGE files of “deceased” messages and the TOTAL lack of action by FitBit, we the customers need to boycott this company! Enough is ENOUGH!!

As I’ve said before, I will not recommend a Fitbit to anyone, nor will I ever buy another one because of this. BUT the last time I checked the web site, there is a waiting list for new Fitbits, so our boycott would be futile. Here’s a question, if you could have somehow been able to visit the Fitbit community before buying yours, would you have bought? I would have purchased something else.

Something I’ve noticed: most hardware makers supply crummy software. You don’t find out how crummy until you’ve bought the hardware and started using it. It’s like they have clever hardware engineers but then hire out the software work to the lowest bidder, and now you’re stuck.

Because of Fitbit’s crummy software, I didn’t buy one of their wireless scales. I bought one that was a lot cheaper, less than half the price. Its software is crummy too but at least the hardware was cheap.

There’s an Apple Watch in my future when it gets some more cardiac capabilities. In the meantime the Fitbit was cheap.

I’ ve noticed that the app appears to have everything I’ve ever done in it. I know I can delete an individual exercise record, but can I delete all of them? Or all of my food log entries? If not, why not? I can’t believe Fitbit is clogging its servers with all that data and not doing something with it.

Hello Woooker1 (Jogger), and others reading this.

Thank you for your constructive response.
You are correct in your suggestion to BOYCOTT somehow, this blatant
dusregard for a request from members by Fitbit. The very people who make
their business possible. Do they not realise the basic business principle?.
Customer = Business = Revenue ?

I have also considered this route of boycott somehow.
Many other people have mentioned this.

I have, as a result, switched off "accepting messages from people, friend
requests,
challenge requests" ;

WHICH ARE ALL THE VERY ESSENCE of joining the Fitbit community - to be
encouraged by interaction with others, support gained and in turn given.

So I am, by default, DENIED this extremely useful tool - ONLY BECAUSE I DO
NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DELETE A MESSAGE OR NOTIFICATION ON MY OWN DEVICE !!

I sometime ago, for those of you who perhaps know, suggested as part of
FEMALE HEALTH - an addition to the current topic (Menstruation) - a section
or platform for the ' older and wiser' (tongue in cheek, ladies !) called
MENOPAUSE and the effects thereof.

The response received to this suggestion was unlike anything I had
anticipated.

I cannot even join his group because I know I will receive hundreds of
messages and notifications that I WOULD LOVE TO RECEIVE BUT in turn, WOULD
LOVE THE RIGHT TO DELETE THEM TOO, ONCE READ AND PERHAPS RESPONDED TO.

The reason I suggested this "Forum" is obvious - I would like to understand
better, this stage of a Woman's life and interact (and support) others !!

Messages are deleted, as you know after thirty days. But that means you
cannot message anyone in order not to have the unwanted messages on your
device for thirty days.

But the notifications !

I try very hard NOT to comment on something. But if I do feel I absolutely
have to, I receive a notification from EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO COMMENTS ON
THE SAME ISSUE thereafter ! ..... which can run into hundreds !

AND I CAN'T GET RID OF THEM !!

Please remember, we members are spread globally. It appears from my
research that the majority are in the USA. I am personally in South Africa.
We are all in different countries, different time zones, some; even
different languages.

I hear your suggestion to BOYCOTT them.
But how do we do it together?

I have received messages from other members and users saying they are
actually going to purchase devices from other manufacturers as this appears
the only way they are able to avoid this problem !

Wooker1 (Jogger) - I sincerely do not mean to appear as if I am downplaying
your suggestion. I VALUE it. But I dont know what to do. I am beyond
frustrated.

That is why I posted the original request on how to delete Messages /
Notifications - hoping to get others on board. And, THANK YOU to every
single person who has supported or agreed with my request.

If anyone has a really constructive suggestion other then to perhaps ONLY
WARN NEW BUYERS NOT TO DO SO..... and the message is strong enough for
Fitbit Inc. to realise where the warnings are emanating from and why.....

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have a good day to you all reading this.

The only one I know you can delete is exercises, but it must be done individually and I don’t have the time for that. And yes, an Apple Watch is in future, right now cardiac function is all I need.

Please let us delete these messages/notifications - I personally do not find them useful inside the app as I get notified face-up on my phone.

Thanks!

I also agree. The continued retention of notifications isn’t helpful.

And the fact they will never do anything about it which is even worse.
On another topic, anyone register sleep data when not wearing the Fitbit? It happens every couple of weeks to me. Friday night the data showed I went to sleep at 8:03 pm and woke up @ 7:17 am Saturday. But I took the Fitbit off at 7pm and put it back on about 9:30 pm and went bed about 10:15 pm so huh?

I do not recall seeing that issue occur - but I usually charge my Ionic in the evening while I am watching TV so that I can record my sleep overnight. Stay tuned...

It’s only happened a few times, just odd that the Fitbit records sleep when I’m not even wearing it. I usually take my Charge 2 off about 7 pm and put it back on about 30 min prior to bed. What makes it odder is that the Fitbit will record steps and in the AM the monitor will show I’d been asleep during that time. Not really a big deal, but odd. But if I really wanted my sleep stages to be recorded properly I’d go to sleep center.

Hi everyone, thanks for your patience. I have an update with some improvements to notifications though it doesn't fulfill your original request. There may be further changes down the line but as of now, daily step goal milestone notifications have been removed from the notifications tab. You can get these notifications back (if you like them) as push notifications to your phone. To do this, open the mobile app, go to your account, notifications, and select which push notifications you want eg. step goal milestones. This change should reduce the 'noise' in your in-app notification centre.

I know that you had requested the ability to delete them, which has not been implemented, however, the step goal milestone notifications will eventually be pushed to the bottom of your notifications as you receive new ones and eventually disappear.

Can you all let me know if this resolves this issue or if you still want the full ability to delete notifications/messages? It might be worth starting a new feature suggestion if you want more control over which types of notifications you see for example. Let me know what you think!

Thank you for your response. I’d still like the ability to delete all
notifications. I personally don’t find that the retention of this
particular information is very helpful.

This does not satisfy the request. The request was the ability to delete
unwanted messages.

Thank you.
