Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

Please add this function, I've had my Blaze for 3 days and I can't believe there's no way to lock the screen. It's impossible to use it with boxing gloves.

While I think this would be a great idea, and as the Surge, many . People complained that the face was returning to the clock, and wished the Surge worked as the Blaze does.

Unfortunately I'm not one with this mindset, when I lift up my am I want to see the time.

If they do this, hopefully we can choose what it does from the settings on the tracker itself. For me, I'd say 5% of the time, I'd want to see the time when I lift my arm, the other 95% of the time, I want to see my stats in the "Today" screen. But if I had to choose one over the other, I'd leave it the way it is.

This shouldn't be a feature request but instead a FIX for such an oversight. Like others my sleeves brushing against the screen pause and sometimes end my runs. Going back to starting my runs from the app (which also gives you audio cues - something the blaze doesn't do when you start a run with phone attached)

I use my fitbit for cycling and connected GPS. Twice now I've set off with the excersise running only to find that somehow it's paused which loses my ride data. I have ended up with two workouts/cycles with a route split across two maps. Would also be good if I could combine maps. Providing a lock option would eliviate this.

All about this feature request  I would hope it happens soon

I returned mine because there was no lock feature.

This has to happen ASAP.  It blows my mind that it wasn't a feature already.  The buttons are way too easy to bump and the screen gets activated with a sweaty shirt/jacket cuff.  It is beyond frustrating when trying to log an activity and the Blaze keeps stopping it.  I'm considering returning it.

I just talked to Customer Support and the gentleman I spoke with told me that you are working on this issue and to expect an update in two or three months.  I don't know if he was just making up numbers or if that is the case.  I'm not sure what is going to take 2 o 3 months. It's a software fix to tell the watch to lock the screen when you push and hold the two buttons on the right and then unlock the screen when you again hold the two buttons on the right.  At least that is how I'd fix this issue.  I hope you have software engineers who could come up with the code to fix this in a few hours or worst case, a few days.  I like this watch but the constant accidental bumping of the buttons and screen is a real deal breaker.

@AZEducatorI guess I owe you an appology.

The 'Select' button is often depressed while working out with gloves; the result is paused and often prematurely 'completed' exercise... Quite frustrating while in middle of a clean and press, for example. The button is totally unnecessary since the screen offers the same result during exercise.

Seems simple enough to allow the option to disable the Select button during exercise (or perhaps during certain exercises).

Thank you -

I don't get it… Fit bit. I paid $250 for a watch that is supposed to track my exercise and you have hundreds if not thousands of people complaining that your watch stopped tracking exercise. It's a simple software fix. What's the problem?

When I first submitted my post your help desk… They followed up 10 days later saying… We think the problem is self resolved as it doesn't seem to be happening anymore. Yes… The resolution was I have to turn my watch backwards for every workout. They didn't even bother contacting me. They just sent me a closing issue email… We think it is self resolved. Somehow magically it would have resolved itself. You are arguably the biggest fitness watch in the world and soon will be out of the job.

It should work as a watch too like the surge. Feature update spoke great. Kinda annoying having to press a button for time.

I would like it top return to the clock also, as it does on the Surge. The thing is the users dos not like this and entered the Surge to stay on the previous screen. I think when it came to the Blaze the developers chose to give the users what they wanted.

This would be so helpful, as my walks and runs are always being paused when it is raining or I sweet a lot.  Once the inside of my coat sleeve gets damp or wet, it rubs along the screen and the Blaze reads it as a touch.  My Blaze paused and stops workout too often during this rainy spring season.

Yep, as people have said if you do implement this make it an option rather than the only possibility. I rather like seeing the same screen as I left off at when I go back to the Blaze.

What a change 2013-2016!

Suggestions please for alternatives with HR, sleep features?  Even better app has body measurement feature, one I used  which Fitbit just "disappeared" with no notice-  other than a forum post (email notice to customers would have been too easy??);  yes, data gone forever...

In my opinion the inability to lock the screen when recording a workout is simply major design flaw. I don't understand how Fitbit went ahead and released the Blaze without this feature. I run, spin, do yoga, do group classes, do weights and kickboxing. It doesn't matter what my workout is, 75% of the time my Blaze will pause or stop recording in the middle of my workout. As soon as you start to sweat, you risk having the issue. Guess what Fitbit, people who workout tend to sweat!

I'm not sure if the comment about the issue being addressed in 2-3 months is accurate but that's a long ways out for a flaw like this. This was my first Fitbit product and probably the last. Unfortunately I can't return it anymore since I bought it when it came out and I was foolishly expecting for a quick fix which hasn't happened yet.

Next time, test yo product before releasing it!

I returned mine. Now making a personal mission to inform others about this deficiency. I am no longer a fitbit fan. this is deal breaker. Fitbit, you really should have figured this out. You could have had corner on market for those not interested in GPS or smartwatch....but you lost this opportunity.

Can i suggest having a lockscreen option for the fitbit blaze. This is because me and apperently a whole lot of fitbit users are annoyed by the display touch sensitivity during a boxing/kickboxing and even yoga workout. The problem occurs when your body is warm and your wearing a boxing glove or other clothing that covers your Wrist. The fitbit just stops or in bestcase pauses your workout because of the contact between your clothing/boxing glove and display. The display registers your wet clothing or boxing clove as a touch on the display. Alot of times it goes completeley out of your workout program and into some other random mode. The only way ro know that this is happening is because of the vibrations at the end of a workout program. This is really annoying because you have to stop your good boxing flow and remove your gloves and open your workout again. Ive done this up to 10 times on a 30 min heavybag routine.

Please read some of the 100 threads that have been made regarding this issue, i have and i have a simple solution for you:

I want to suggest a lockscreen mode so the display is turned off during boxing/kickboxing workout and the buttons are locked. The way to unlock and lock the buttons again is simply to hold 2 buttons on the oposite side of the watch for 5 sec. This will solve all your angry coustomers problems regarding the touchscreen. And dramatically increes your customer happiness in the combatsport comunity and the military (who are dropping fitbit and looking at garmin)

A lock screen absolutely needs to happen, I can't believe this didn't come up during your product testing unless all your tests were done indoors with no long sleeves (ie not in a real world scenario!). I've only had the Blaze for just over a week now after switching from a Surge, and my first trip out on my bike the activity ended during the ride. Some of us aren't lucky enough to live in a country where we can get away with not wearing sleeves!

I wore my Blaze for the first time during a kickboxing workout this last weekend.  I was excited to log the exercise, but the touch screen was constantly getting bumped by my glove when I punched the bag, stopping or pausing the workout.  After a couple of times, I got frustrated and just took the thing off.  This never happened with my Charge HR, as the side buttons are much harder to accidentally press.

It has also happened when I was working out with sandbags, and one bumped the watch face.

I really like the potential of the Blaze, but this is a major problem making me consider returning it.

I also would like the ability to lock a particular screen.

It's difficult wile walking or running to swipe to another screen sometimes. To be able to lock a screen would be nice.
