Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

I was hiking in the Rocky Mountains and my blaze Leo pausing or ending my tracking. This was very frustrating as my camping location wasn't marked well and you had to know how many Km you walked. I ended up wearing my watch upside town to try prevent hitting the buttons. We REALLY need a lock feature.

Please add a time delay to pause/stop work out as well.... A little bump is all it takes to ruin a work out. I have reverted to using phone apps (I got the blaze to avoid this) Bike rides...gloves bump the buttons...on hikes wet coat triggers/stops workouts (5 work outs on 8 mile hike)on touch screen. Currently I can't recommend this to anyone, in fact I tell them to get a different device. If this isn't fixed, my next device won't be a Fitbit.

This has to be done, it's very frustrating with gloves on and it pauses and stops the exercise.  I had a Polar HR watch where you could just lock the buttons and then have to press and hold 2 buttons at the same time to unlock it - easy!

Interesting that no one from FitBit has bothered chiming in - I see that occur in other posts.

Anyway, I've gone to not starting the Kickbocking exercise when I do a class, rather I let the FitBit just pick up the activity on it's own.  It misses about 15 minutes of the 60 minute class.

Seems like such an easy fix if FitBit bothered to acknowledge and address the problem.

Pretty discouraged by the lack of attention to this matter.

I've contacted Fitbit recently and told them that I highly suggest they read this forum. More than likely it won't do anything but I figured it is worth a shot.

I don't even wear my Fitbit during my kickboxing class anymore because my Blaze doesn't even pick up the activity on it's own and it isn't like I'm not moving. If this doesn't get resolved unfortunately my next activity device will not be a Fitbit and I've been very loyal I'm on my 3rd one but it may be time to move on.

@Flash50k  Some of us purchased a fitness device, not a watch.  I could care less if there is a watch on it.  It is ugly and I were to spend $250 on a watch it would look a lot nicer than this.  They don't even have a small face for women.  I look like a female wearing a man's watch.  They could have at least come up with something more "lady like" for us females.  I had to also get a charge as I can't wear the Surge when I am dressed up.  I should have just went with the Surge HR as the GPS is nice so you can see your route but one 5 mile walk and the battery is drained.  Next time it is a garmin.  May friends have a garmin.  It has a good battery life and you can wear it swimming.

I received a response from Fitbit after explaining to them that they really need to pay attention to this forum and  see what customers are saying and how unhappy everyone is. They unfortunately keep referring me back to this forum saying this is the place to get results. They aren't realizing we aren't requesting for an improvement (in a way we are) but we are more asking for a problem to be fixed. So basically to me it's a don't really care attitude and not a priority.

People, please realize Fitbit does not care, we were only a small percentage of the people using the Blaze that apparently use it for what it was for, running, boxing, exercising, etc. However, the other 98% love them because they don't track exercise but have a cool looking watch that people mistake for an Apple watch. I bought my Blaze the first week they came out and immediately had the issue and posted on here and other places. Fitbit didn't care then nor do they now. Since running is a big part of my life now, I finally had to cut ties with Fitbit about a month ago and went with the Garmin FR235. I sold my Blaze and extra watchband on eBay and fetched over $150 which I used towards the purchase of my Garmin. The only thing I miss is the challenges with my former Fitbit friends each week, however I have found many other Garmin users on my FB running groups and we do our own challenges.

I am going to see now how I can unsubscribe to this forum, as i really have nothing else I can say. I loved my first Fitbit Charge HR, but so disappointed in the Blaze and my opinion of Fitbit soured too.

Thanks for trying, kayjaybee.  There's so much promise with the Blaze - it's a real shame to see it all go to waste due to poor response to customer needs ... especially needs that could be fixed with a software update.

YES WE NEED THIS

Ive found when i am running with a long sleave on my blaze stops, starts or cancel constantly which is not only annoying but effects my timings

The pause issue is a big one. Either I'm doing it with the select button or I'm bumping the face. There needs to be a lock function or just get rid of the pause option. Why would you pause a workout???

This is a great idea, i have the same problem during a lot of exercises which indeed is pretty frusturated! It can't be to difficult for Fitbit to make this happen!

Blaze desperately needs to add a lock screen option for the Blaze. Workouts that get paused over and over cause great frustration.

I bought the Blaze 2 days ago. In martial arts class I noticed it kept pausing. I'm not wearing any gloves or wraps but my very sweaty gi top was hitting the Blaze. I rolled the sleeves up past the Blaze and it continued to pause leading me to think it's my wrist bending hitting a button or even perhaps the force jarring the Blaze into thinking it's been touched. I moved it as far up my wrist as I could and that had no effect either. So here I am and I'm shocked to see posts going back to March about this issue and not just martial arts related movement but running, biking, yoga etc.

Since it's been 4 months (the oldest post I saw was dated March) that doesn't make me enthusiastic about a fix... you know, like that line from Fight Club... if your vehicle has a defect that's causing deaths and it's a small percentage, you don't do a recall. Maybe that's where we're at. At any rate, I have 2 weeks (Best Buy) to return it. If there's no fix on the horizon by then I'll just have to return it.

Likewise for Hockey (probably anything with Gloves too). Found it turning off most shifts...

Or even something like a way to turn on confirmation, etc. I use to have the Charge HR and the button worked great. Never any issues.

This would be amazing! It's a pain when it happens.

Real shame this hasn't been addressed. Several workouts have been paused for me and the value lost.

Same issue here. I wear it a bit higher to avoid the buttons being inadvertently pressed, but inevitably it slides down during the workout and the right two buttons get pressed, resulting in the tracking being paused or turned off altogether. The ability to disable those two buttons during the workout would be great.

I agree! When I wear my weightlifting gloves and bend my wrist at all it pauses my workout. I have to wear it higher and that leads me to have to tighten it up as to not let it fall (I have VERY small wrists) and it effects the heart rate feature. Sometimes I can feel the slight buzz that tells me it's paused and sometimes I can't. It's so frustrating! I would suggest either allowing you to disable the buttons or change what button controls what.

Another vote for a screen-lock here please. Mine stopped 18-minutes into an hour long workout on Saturday, so frustrating! It does this far too regularly.

Yep, you can add me to the list as well.

I kickbox, you have a kickboxing activity on the watch, kickboxers wear gloves, gloves push the buttons and stop the watch recording the activty.  Very annoying to find yourself working for 60mins only for your watch to record four of them!

This is a really frustrating issue with the Blaze. Its a great unit but if this cant be sorted, its being passed onto someone else to use and I'll get a Garmin. How can we "vote" for this change?

I've found the touch screen is being knocked during workouts. This results in workouts continually pausing and starting or finishing them all together! Such a pain especially when you finish a workout and realise it's been paused since the beginning! A lock for the touch screen or deactivation of the touch screen to start and stop the workouts would be a great idea. Stopping and starting should only be able to be done with a side button so this doesn't keep occurring.

The touch screen in exercise mode on the Blaze is an aboslute nightmare if you waer boxing gloves.  I trained for 60 minutes with the Kickboxing option but the mode keeps switching off and on as the glove bumps the screen.

You should be able to lock the screen or at lesast have to press for 1-2 seconds to switch it on/off.

Bummed that the Blaze paused several times during a 10 mile hike at Mt Katahdin. Please solve this problem.

Do we know if this is in the works. I had a kickboxing session and greatly annoyed me, it also made me feel very stupid as I had been talking the Blaze up and then it didnt work 😞
