Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

From what I can tell nothing is in the works. I have emailed them directly several times and basically don't get told anything and the forum is the only place to go. I've told them that there have been several Blaze users highly disappointed and that it feels like Fitbit doesn't care. All I got was an I'm sorry and an offer to get their premium membership for a year free. Well that doesn't fix the problem.

My Blaze won't pause during Taekwondo for weeks. Then suddenly pauses every class.
I still love it, just wish it wouldn't pause.

I really like my Fitbit blaze but I'm an avid hockey player and I after only four skates with my new blaze I'm ready to return it and go back to my charge hr. The charge always worked like a charm to track workouts. My workouts are constantly paused and the saved (ended) when my glove touches the screen. On the ice I can't be worried about this. A lock feature is simple, I'm mind blown the issue hasn't been fixed yet.

why the **ahem** is this not implemented yet? every cheap polar has this "feature" whcih is an absolute necessity! Mindblowing that u offer a sports tracker which gets paused by accident. Cant even understand why i tkaes u half a year to implement this.

I have my blaze since 3 days- when i knew before that i have to fear that my workouts in the gym can get paused by accidetn i would have bougth another watch! This is not too difficult to implement a swell so what are u waiting for???

I see a note from 6 months ago from FitBit moderator that having a lock is a good idea.

Why is it taking 6+ months to implement this? I bought FitBit to track my exercise and in just two weeks I have suffered 3 times from this malfunction.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX this simple yet vital BUG

Just had to laugh when I did two bench press sets yesterday and when Iooked down the weight workout was paused.  I'm pretty sure nothing touched the screen to cause it to pause.  Just amazing that FitBit doesn't have people skilled enough to fix this well documented issue.  Maybe they could outsource the project to another company . . .

There were a load of reported issues and digestions when I had a Charge
HR. Very few were actually properly addressed or implemented, but low and
behold the Blaze has almost all of these: no burns of the wrist, longer
battery life & dimmable screen. I wouldn't be surprised if all these
suggestions aren't being collated into a new device which doesn't has the
problems of the Blaze.

It can't take them this long to implement a screen lockout to stop all
these workouts from being paused.

Well, I'm really sickof pausing workouts so I had a bit of inspiration tonight, so I resorted to a home made fix which worked really well tonight and the full 1.5 hrs scything session was fully recorded. I believe Fitbit will be paying me for my patented design and all our problems will be over: hooray. I can just imagine these stylish accessories on the catwalk now. I think I've just missed a call from Cara.

Get a patent on that quick before Fitbit implements it ;-]

well my workaround (patent pending) : move the blaze from the left to the
right hand just for the workouts so the pause button is at least not to the
direction wrist... THANK YOU FITBIT FOR THIS QUICK SOLUTION / sacrasm

That unfortunately won't work for workouts like kickboxing 🙂

I'm left handed and my Fitbit is always on my right hand. And still pauses.

Make this happen. Even as a casual user I want to know what my heart rate is doing as I exercise. There are plenty of options, if some people want a watch all the time, let them select that, if we want heart rate all the time, give us that.

Better yet, let us have a clock AND heart rate... or any two or three things of our choice (heart rate, clock, pace, steps, whatever) there's plenty of screen real estate.

Please, please make this a fix! I love the watch, but it's such a pain when it pauses in the middle of my kickboxing class and I don't notice it. It seems like such a simple thing to fix, please please!!

I think a screen lock option is necessary, but should be capable for any screen you choose. I'm constantly working out and by time I go to see heartrate/pace/time/etc. It's already back to the clock. Well, the touch screen isn't responsive at all, at least not accurately, with sweaty hands. I'm tired of the struggle. By time I'm done working out, have dried off enough to operate the screen, I've added a good bit of time to the running clock and heart rate has dropped, etc.. Please figure something out, it's getting to the point I just assume take it off and buy a stop watch, our start it and have no real time info to make necessary adjustments on the fly. Thank you!

@Fantastick mentioned in another thread "I want to suggets a button lock combination. Like pressing and holding the 2 buttons on the oposite side of the screen for 5 sec to unlock the screen and the same to lock the screen."

Couldnt agree more - this is a great idea for a lock screen.

As a hockey player it's becoming increasingly frustrating to deal with the issue of my hockey glove hitting the touch screen and ending my workout as soon as I go over the boards for a shift. A simple touchscreen lock would completely solve the problem. I'm amazed there isn't one in place. Think back to the days when you forgot to lock (put in hold mode) your iPod and you songs switched. Or a pocket dial. It's the same thing.
Might I suggest a button combination. For example, let's say I start my workout and then hold a certain combo of buttons on the Fitbit and the screen locks, except for "quick view" this way you can view your time and heart rate while the watch is locked. Then to unlock you'd hold the same combo of buttons! Please help I don't want to have to return my blaze and go back to my charge hr. I really like the blaze I want it to work for me but I need it to do what it's supposed too and do it effectively.

I hadn't experienced any locking issues until the morning weather in California chilled enough to require long sleeves, and low and behold, 2 or my 3 runs this week were interrupted. Boo Fitbit, this is a pretty major fail.

hardware fix: start the training and then put the blaze the other way round
in the housing (turn the wgole band around so u can read it). this us goid
enough fir weight training . at least then u cannot push the buttons.
patent should be pending because fitbit is too stupid to match their
targeted buyers- sportsmen- needs! a **ahem**n lockscreen!!

Need the ability for blaze to lock screen while working out . It doesn't seem to work well with kickboxing sessions ...

Doing a search of the suggestion board I find this request has already been made. I suggest adding your vote and comment there and letting this thread die, instead of starting over or splitting the votes..

Well there was a software update and unfortunately didn't fix this issue. When will Fitbit get it together????

cardude10

Not sure I think this is a much needed feature in product like this .
MScott67

Fitbit knows of the issue but obviously isn't going to do anything about it.  Probably will offer a new product with this lockout feature to try to get people to upgrade rather than fix a known problem.
