Maintain Fitbit web dashboard going forward

As an older user, my eyesight and hand eye coordination are poor. So, I prefer the website dashboard on my PC. That dashboard keeps directing us to the mobile app. Please assure you will continue maintaining both as I cannot rely solely on the mobile app. Please consider all of your customers when providing tools. Many thanks!

I accidentally killed my old FitBit last spring working a structure fire and only just got around to replacing it. My charge 6 was supposed to arrive tomorrow but I've already decided to return it. I use my phone as a FLIR camera and a phone and that's about it. I don't want to be a phone zombie as I keep scraping them off the road and into ambulance boxes and helicopters. If I had known the dashboard was gone I would never have purchased my new device. I work in computer science and know it doesn't take that much effort in the grand scheme of things to maintain a website. This is nothing short of expectation management, so I've decided to vote with my feet and my wallet.

It's obvious they could care less by making this unilateral decision.
After 12 years, I won't be using Fitbit when my current one dies.

I TOTALLY agree with this, it seems that they no longer care about older people, I also used it on the PC daily and now I can't be bothered at all with the app, it is so frustrating, time-consuming, uses too much battery life, I can't be bothered anymore with fitbit.

@malangaliThank you so much for your excellent video, I really hope lots of others can get to view it. I really appreciate your time and effort.

I have been a Fitbit user for 12 years and was devastated when they took the dashboard away and also decimated the usability and functionality of the app. They've done a terrible thing to older people and those with visual problems, as well as to people like me who just hate having to use a phone for intricate tasks. Shame on you, Google. I hope my post is relevant enough to publish, it certainly should be.

Thank you so much for your video.  So, spot on.  Sad that Google has chosen to ignore this issue and not even respond.  I guess it is inevitable that they will lose many customers me being one of them.  Anyone have any recommendations on other products

@malangali  Just watched the YouTube post and and you have done a great job highlighting the issue for people with eye sight issues.  From my perspective my eyesight is corrected with glasses ….. but much prefer a larger screen to look at the stats and even better if the information is all on one screen and easy to read. Well done.

I agree, the video is an excellent description of why so many of us are u
happy with how Google is de-valuing our Fitbits

Sure miss the web based fitbit.com  Due to my right hand doesn't work very good and I can browse and navigate the site a whole lot better with computer or desktop based site.

One of the reasons I selected Fitbit was the updated dashboard. I can see so earthly reason why it would be discontinued. Please reinstate or I will be forced to choose a different product. Is this a result of the takeover by Google. If so, I will have to consider switching to another search engine!!

Can anybody tell me why nobody from either Fitbit or Google has responded to this thread?

Because FitBit was taken over by Google and they DO NOT CARE about those of us who are low vision, or the elderly, or anyone who DOES NOT WISH TO USE THEIR MOBILE DEVICES for everything.

I HATE having to try to maneuver the small screen of a cell phone to enter my data.

Thanks for your response.  I understand what you are saying but don't you think it would be nice if they would make some sort of response so we could put this thread to bed?  I mean that is just being courteous.  After all, they are a business and they should respond even if it is bad news.

I totally agree. However, this has been going on since they dropped the dashboard THREE MONTHS AGO, with no response from ANYONE.

I doubt we will EVER HEAR FROM ANYONE.

I am guessing it is because a) Fitbit doesn't exist any more and b) all of
these comments are responding to a comment I posted a long time ago, so
Google isn't likely even seeing it. But there is a commenter, can't see
the thread so don't remember his name, who made an outstanding video about
this issue which over 800 of people commented on - on this thread alone.
It's on Youtube, and he's called Professor something...hopefully he will
see this and make the link for you to add your voice where it MIGHT matter.

@lizhuffstuff thanks for the mention - the video about the removal of the Web Dashboard, which is the exact topic of this discussion, can be found by visiting YouTube and searching for "fitbit grandma". The impact on people with visual or other accessibility issues is especially considered.

Good question. They obviously don't care what their customers think!

Occasionally critiques don't appear.

The mobile app has always been awful. Nowhere near as many features and options as the website and too many taps needed to accomplish what the app does offer.

I’m 78 and just got a Fitbit last spring through my insurance. I loved it, and used it every day, until they deleted the computer dashboard. I haven’t used it since.

The phone app isn’t intuitive for me like the dashboard was. It takes too long, is too hard to see, blah blah . . . all the things others have discussed.

I don’t understand their rationale at all, but I am contacting my insurance and recommending that they choose a different device for their older customers, as Fitbit without the Dashboard is pretty useless to us.

There is no reason why the web interface should have been sunsetted. When I'm on my laptop, the very last thing I want to do is put my laptop down to pick up a different device to access data that is stored on the internet.

Months later and not a peep about this.  You betrayed seniors and people with disabilities with this change.  Why don't you just come out and say, "No.  We don't care."

Larry23420

They don't care.  If they do anything, they will move your comment to an existing thread to be ignored with all the others.  Seniors and disabled people can get bent.

I don't even ever remember there being a suggestion in here on they should remove it.

@Larry23420 Or they will put it in another section of will not look into or change like they did with the many many many posts of bringing back the games/ challenges.
