Maintain Fitbit web dashboard going forward

As an older user, my eyesight and hand eye coordination are poor. So, I prefer the website dashboard on my PC. That dashboard keeps directing us to the mobile app. Please assure you will continue maintaining both as I cannot rely solely on the mobile app. Please consider all of your customers when providing tools. Many thanks!

Hello.  I am weighing in late on this, but because of travel and busy-ness, I have not been online with Fitbit on my computer for quite a few months now.  As a result, I somehow missed the announcement that the website dashboard was being shut down over the summer.  I am crushed.  I have depended on the food entry system there for my periodic eating programs.  I am not disabled, but as I age, my eyesight declines.  Also, it is so much easier to type quickly and accurately on a computer keyboard than it is on a phone, and the food entry system, if used for a long-term eating program, requires significant typing.  The phone app, while great for travel and quick checks during the day, is just not an adequate substitute.  I do hope that you will bring it back, at least with an integrated food entry system.  Thanks for listening.

The web dashboard was a much better way to access Fitbit data. The app is harder to navigate and enter information and simply too small.  Convenience of the web dashboard aside, it's also an accessibilty issue. As I age, my eyesight suddenly won't get better. Trying to look at ride routes on my phone is basically unusable.

Thanks for adding your perspective, so hope there will be a recognition of
a significant client group!

This is not a disaster – just a hassle.. Any wearable step counter,
including the slew of Fitbit devices, will give one a readout of daily
steps (or weekly steps, and so on). Simply input them into any food calorie
db management software out there, there are dozens, and it is possible to
manage the calories burnt vs calories in. Not that hard.

@JackHenry If you’ve found one that works as seamlessly and easily as what we all paid for when we purchased our fitbits, please post it. I’ve done a TON of research over the last few months, and to my knowledge none work as well as Fitbit used to. I promise, it’s not as simple as you say, or there wouldn’t be pages and pages (and months and months) of unhappy customers.

@JackHenry, of course, as you note, one can cobble together different legacy/enterprise solutions and perform one's own calculations/analyses.  And the current phone app does still allow us to enter food, but it is impractical.  The bottom line is that Fitbit is no longer providing a turnkey solution that works for many of its [formerly?] loyal end users. An integrated steps/activity and food/calorie system that is accessible on the same platform is ideal (although, as you observe, not essential) in managing a successful calorie management program.

I also was a customer impacted by the decision to sunset the Fitbit One.  I am learning by experience that design thinking and change leadership are not valued by this firm.  It would be optimal if stakeholder research were conducted before product changes are made and buy-in was sought (or at least better communication systems were instituted).  These customer service elements have been missing for me . . . .

I AGREE.  I've been a Fitbit user since February 2012 & have twelve years' worth of data.  I used the web app b/c it was more robust and b/c I could extrapolate data by providing a starting & ending date.  So I could pull lifetime steps or steps for each year or compare steps during any given period over each of the twelve years.  BRING BACK THE WEB APP!!!

I made the huge mistake of paying to restart fitbit premium before reviewing all the changes. I had been "off the wagon" on my health journey and was set to get back on track after a few health issues then a major injury and surgery side railed me. I am absolutely floored that our web page has been removed. The amount of information lost to us by using the very limited app is now a waste of not only my money, but my time. I'm on the search for a usable system now. Google destroyed so much that made Fitbit stand out from all the rest.

Yes, please, please, please bring back the dashboard.
Alternatively, does anyone have a good option for viewing the data outside the phone?

Completely true.

I'm still seething about this and very frustrated. It's not going to happen is it? Google only interested in the bottom line not their customers. I have spent hours creating a database in excel of foods I regularly eat which I can then manipulate to calculate how much of each food type I eat daily and the calories  and find an average over the year. But is it accurate? I like to think so but I'm no nutritionist or excel expert 🤔. I can at least get the calories I have used from my Fitbit and compare it with the calories i have consumed but it takes a lot of effort to upkeep the data as very often the composition of ingrediaents is changed by the manufacturer(?) but I persevere anyway. Ho Hum , were just cogs in the money making machine that is Google.

@PhaedraFlux

Yes, there is a way to view the data outside of the phone app.

Another Fitbit user wrote a dashboard using the fitbit webapi.  Many users have found this dashboard and have been using it.  You need to click on things and explore to see all of the features.  You can edit steps/sleep with the + symbol. Click on the shoe for more details like in the old web app,  Link below.

@N0

Oh my gosh!! Thank you so much for pointing us to https://dashboard.exercise.quest/

I just tried it and was able to update a meal that I had created some time ago! It was driving me crazy that I had to delete components every time I added the meal to my day.

I am still unhappy with FitBit's decision to not support a web app but at least I have an alternative now. Thank you to whoever created it!!! 💜

I've had a Fitbit since it had the little pod that you put in your pocket.  I used the desktop daily.  I did not like having to use the app.  The data is too small for my old eyes.  I signed up with Google hoping that would allow me to see the data on my computer.  But, now the app does not show the trends of my weight, nor the average for the week, nor all the data from all time.  I am so disappointed in Fitbit.

I've used Fitbit for 24 yrs. & am very disgusted with their lack of
response to this issue. Very poor business practices!

The fitbit app for mobile phones is a disaster. You cannot view sleep nowhere as good as the desktop/pc version. It needs to be brought back. I have been using for years. I no longer have joy or useful info in the mobile app!

I am considering throwing the fitbit in the garbage and buying a competitor's health tracker! Makes me sad...

I recently bought the Inspire 3. Now I wish I would have gone with a different brand. I liked the dashboard on my pc. I can read it better! I guess I will have to check into a different type of fitness tracker. Sad for people with bad vision. I have been using fitbit for over 20 years! Time to look for a different one.

Agree. I am in the market for something new. It's a shame the Fitbit
platform team are so disinterested in their users needs and wants. My
husband pointed out the new devices were on sale and if they had their act
together I would have upgraded. 2 out of 10 for Fitbit!!

I am struck absolutely dumbfounded as to the reasoning for removing access to our Fitbit data on the web portal. Mind blowing! I am lucky I still have time to get a refund on this troublesome product. No time to wait for Fitbit/Google to correct this blunder.

It looks like Fitbit landed in Made By Google product line with no roadmap which is very unfortunate for anyone buying the product moving forward.

Asking for web/desktop app is probably less realistic than asking for End of Life timelines, is this forum monitored by a product team who could answer or clarify ? From factory to software development there must be somekind of governance for such an industrial move
