Make sleep score optional

Suggested idea is to have the sleep score optional !

We should be able to choose if we have the score or not , I hate feeling like I failed my sleep!

You can get averages by going to the main page, bottom right-community-up
near the top there’s a line that says what are you up to- touch the next
sleep icon and you’re there

Hi @SleepScoreBites, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about having the option to opt out of the sleep score information, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is currently marked as "Under Consideration".

This thread has  been truncated by someone in the last 8 hrs.    I subscribed and have been getting emails and most are no longer visible.    The average SLEEP SCORE is visible.  What we want back is the option to see HOURS,.i.e. for the score to be optional and hours to be default as it was

Please allow us to turn off sleep score and see the hours/ minutes and average sleep as before. I really dislike the sleep score.

Thank  you

Yes, please make it possible to opt out of sleep score. It provides no useful information and only makes me anxious.

Please bring back the happy moon!  Also remove the sleep score, as it is useless, and default back to graphing the hours slept.  Thanks!

I’m not sure what you mean about it being truncated. Do I need to do something? My inbox is getting several per day

Hi @Riddleclint. Thanks for explaining why you would like to see your the sleep average time on the Fitbit app with us! I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can check this other suggestion here. Keep adding your suggestions!

Love that this enhancement request is in queue. The number one reason I wear a FitBit and not a competitor’s smartwatch is the sleep tracker. So need to have the option to see total hours and mins, not a sleep score that doesn’t make sense to me. Thanks!

  • I have a Flex 2. Average sleep hours were really important to me. Instead, I now get an average sleep score of 0 every week. This is clearly a big backward step and my next device will not be a Fitbit unless this is sorted and i get average sleep hours back

It has been almost 3 months - has any progress been made on deciding if this sleep score will be made optional? If nothing is going to be done, let your customers know so we can decide if we want to check out other options.

This is my one star Google play app review. If you read this, please join me in an app strike.

This review is effectively an app strike. Please make the "sleep score" optional. I love my fitbit, but I do not love being graded and judged on my sleep. I want info only, not some opinion about whether or not I will qualify for the next round of the sleepers Olympics. I will change my rating when the app has been changed.
*thanks fitbit support. I, along with at least 841 other people, have already posted on that forum. We are at 3 months and counting... No app Change = no rating change.

@Brindel

I wish more people would do that. Once we completely tank the ratings for the app, they'll listen.

They told me the suggestion doesn't have enough votes, that if it had more votes they'd do something. Who voted for that stupid feature in the first place? They are fully invested in this feature that has no benefit whatsoever and can do nothing but anger their customers. Almost like a corporate sabotage.

I agree the sleep score is not something to encourage good sleep habits. I had just under 6 hours last night and ended up with a score of 80. And yet another night I end up with 7-8 hours and end up with a 70 sleep score. So this makes the score irrelevant to me. If I do get a longer sleep the sleep score doesn't indicate the story why...it just gives mixed messages about what I felt and what Fitbit felt was a good sleep for me. So the score is inevitably irrelevant. Until it matches how I actually feel it won't be helpful. And it also penalizes those of us who struggle to get more than 8 hours of shut-eye!

I have also rated FitBit a one star in the Apple store based on the sleep score and new dashboard. Hopefully it helps us all.
I also read the requests that FitBit claim is the reason for implementing the sleep score. I believe someone at FitBit  misinterpreted the requests. The way I read it, people are asking for a way to rate their own sleep so they can use the Fitbit app as a sleep diary. That would be a very useful upgrade and one I think a lot of people with sleep issues would be willing to pay for if the cost was no more than a dollar a month.

If FitBit is trying to increase profits they should invest in reasonably priced accessories instead of letting cheap  chinese products be the only option for consumers.

Please give us back the old dashboard. Older and less tech savvy people that I’ve talked to are frustrated because they find the new dashboard difficult to navigate.

Odd this article popped up on my health care website. So why can't we get a simple off/on for sleep score. Obviously, if a health website says not to check your 'sleep score' right away then Fitbit should listen.

I think with the dashboard confusion and sleep score, this will keep many newbies and many longterm users consider other apps. All we want is to know what our breakdown is, not the actual sleep score. Just like with the dashboard issue where this afternoon, for a while I was only showing the calories burned...nothing else! This app is pushing us more and more into the paid version but as long as these bugs haven't been fixed what's the point? Fitbit should follow Microsoft's lead and only allow for significant system upgrades to their app when all the bugs are worked out and when they have the time to train the rest of us so that we can re-learn where everything we were comfortable with and knew where they were we can determine where they were moved to at inconvenience to us.

Still waiting for some comment from a mod… still not enjoying this judgemental feature.

Well, I’ve done it. The Fitbit is off. I’ve ditched it.
I posted, I emailed, I called along with hundreds of other people and they didn’t listen so they’ve lost another customer.
See ya Fitbit, it was fun while it lasted.
If they ditch the pathetic sleep score and restore the clear, intuitive dashboard I might consider returning but a company that treats their customers with such utter contempt are cruising for failure anyway.

When I upgraded the phone recently I came close to putting the Fitbit in a drawer. Having a device I enjoyed and which helped me improve myself and my life suddenly judge me inadequate first thing in the morning was almost more than I could bear. What I want to know is how long I slept and I have been fascinated to observe my sleep rhythms. But, a score -- and no information about how it's derived or what it means? Just let me turn that feature off.

YES!!!! I really like monitoring my sleep so I don't want to take it away, but the last thing I want is to wake up to a B- or a C or even a D : ( Seriously. Especially when you're going to charge me to see the metrics you're using to give me a mediocre grade. I just want to be able to turn off the "grade."

Make it go away, please.
