Make sleep score optional

Suggested idea is to have the sleep score optional !

We should be able to choose if we have the score or not , I hate feeling like I failed my sleep!

Ready to walk away from Fitbit. I don’t even look at my data anymore because the sleep score is frustrating. Sleep data (hours/type of sleep) is the thing that got me to upload data every morning. Now sleep score makes me want to avoid uploading data.

Part of the sleep score is the heart rate. You already tell me my heart is not great in another metric. I have been told I can be on medication for the rest of my life to lower my heart rate or I can just be okay with a faster than normal heart rate. Now Fitbit tells me every morning  that I am not doing a good enough job with something I have no control over.

The sleep score is completely useless and just requires us to go through another step to see what really matters which is time slept.

Please allow the sleep score to be an option. What could be so difficult it appears you have been considering it for 8 months. Please, I hate this thing.

Delete sleep score how many of us have to complain for you to do it?

Yes! Please bring back the average sleep time.

You can still find the sleep average, here’s how:

If you’re using the app, at least on my iPhone X, you can see the average
by swiping left three times when you’re looking at the initial sleep data
screen (what you see after clicking the sleep icon on home screen) then
using the expand image (double-ended arrow) icon ... a PIA it’s true, but
the data is there.

Another way:
click “community” icon at bottom of home screen, then
“What are you up to” at very top of next screen, then
The “sleep”icon

Brings up the most useful screen imho

Someone posted this a long time ago in this thread. It’s worth reposting
periodically ...

Thank you for that update!! I wish it was simpler, but this was still helpful.

You're welcome. I think I'm going to try to repost it every so often as I
found it useful as well (months ago) but it quickly gets buried as more
posts are added here.

I take it this isn’t going to be addressed any time soon is it? like most people in here I’m fed up with having to hunt around for the information I need.. the whole point of having a Fitbit was to have easy access to good metrics - but frankly the Apple Watch is looking like a better option every time I fire up the app. At least, they seem to care about UX

I try to spend less time on my phone and here I am in the middle of the night getting furious at how bad an app is.. this isn’t what I bought a fit bit for ☹️

would be nice if someone just pretended to care about the users rather than ignore everyone for the best part of what 6 months? Longer? Pfft..

It's not going to be fixed, why even try!

We seem to all be quite disappointed with the total lack of interest from Fitbit with regard to their so called, "Sleep Score". It surely isn't rocket science to give users a running tally of the amount of hours slept as well as the deep sleep and to make this new "sleep score" available upon request for those that think it is somehow valid.  For the rest of the Fitbit users, it has been an ongoingly frustrating daily anxiety as we are aware that no one from Fitbit seems to care a lick about our imploring. When you are trying to feel better and up on all the latest science with regard to sleep, and you go out and purchase the device recommended for specific features, it is a slap-in-the-face to then be denied what you paid for. We all spent the money buying our devices and then having them reduced to less than what was paid for. If we had our monies back, we'd buy the device that delivers what we had been looking for.  But no one cares. They've got our money and that's the end.

Agreed that Fitbit could easily and SHOULD simply make the sleep score "OPTIONAL" as the subject of this thread states (which was changed at least half a dozen times to get where it is now, "Make Sleep Score Optional".) That's all most everyone here would like to have the option to do. The sleep score, to me, while sometimes I'll check just to see what it is, I find it pretty much useless. But occasionally it gets it right.

That said, I also find it borderline ridiculous how some people here just whine and moan an d complain because the sleep hours are not the default view.  It is very easy to see sleep average times with just two very simple touches of my iPhone screen. Less than one second. So what if you have to 'see the score first'. This is not life and death here people. I check my sleep averages DAILY and most of they time to get to it I don't even pay attention to whatever the sleep score is. So just ignore it, folks, rather than let it RUIN YOUR DAY AND YOUR LIFE.

And to Fittybittyuser: Why not explain to the class how much you enjoy having to charge that Apple watch **EVERY 18 HOURS** while we can charge our Fitbit devices once every 6 DAYS. And I also get to keep almost four years of data by keeping my Fitbit. As well as, can STILL easily see sleep average times. You missed that part. What a hoot.

To The Vinny Jogger

No, you cannot just see your sleep average for the week, any longer

And no, you cannot see your Deep Sleep average EVER

And when we all paid for our Fitbits for specifics offered, eliminating those is bad business. We are dealing with our health, not a dessert topping.

Then you probably have an older unit or not updated your software. I can see sleep averages TWO different ways. I can also see deep sleep, light sleep, REM etc. Sounds like you're dealing with a very different issue, IMHO.

The point is, none of us are asking for more than we actually paid for when we bought our device. And, the technology is available to meet our request, simply. There is absolutely no reason for Fitbit to have to decide to take the UNDER CONSIDERATION. That's a lot of bureaucratic b.s.

Even with sleep score being the default view, if you click on 'SLEEP' on your phone dashboard, and see your sleep score page, THEN, scroll the weekly graph that's at the top of the page, from right to left, you will see your "HOURS SLEPT" graph. Simply click on the double arrow icon near the top right of your screen to expand that view and right there is everything we're looking for. It shows sleep AVERAGES for this week as well as any week we scroll back to. It also shows the one month average, three month average and even one year average, and again, we can scroll back to as long as you've had records taken by your Fitbit app and in my case back to 2016. All in all it takes less than 2 SECONDS to get what we want to see which are our sleep AVERAGES for this week, last week, last month, least year etc.

Additionally, you can get your old default view sleep average page by going to Fitbit home page on your device, then click on "COMMUNITY", then, touch the "WHAT ARE YOU UP TO" link, and then click on 'SLEEP TILE' icon to see what was basically our old default view of sleep averages for every week by scrolling down. Those have always been there.

I have an iPhone 10XS and everything is current.

We're not only getting what we "paid for" as posted directly above TWO ways you can get there, but we ALSO get a new option of sleep score. Now, I happen to agree that the newest option of sleep score is quite lame and would prefer an option to turn it off (which is the title of this thread). But those numbers that I want (sleep averages) and am used to having, and "paid for", are still all available right there in black and white and easy to see and utilize.

I tried your suggestion of clicking on the double arrows for average sleep - that doesn't work on my iphone7

I was able to get my averages via community SLEEP tile. Thank You

Would still prefer the tried and true original feedback.

The sleep score is not only "lame", as you stated, it is insulting to anyone's intelligence.

Someone's son-in-law must have been given a job at Fitbit and came up with it. It's based on absolutely nothing.

My wife has the iPhone 7 still (doesn't want to give up the home button, and after having the 10XS for a year I understand why). Anyway, I just checked and her iPhone 7 shows the exact view yours won't let you see. Maybe be sure all software is updated. But going to Dashboard home page, clicking sleep, then scrolling to average sleep hours and touching double arrow icon gets you to all of your sleep average data. At least on her iPhone7.

But at least glad you found the weekly averages from the sleep tile route. I can tell you, if I could not see any sleep averages like you couldn't, before finding these new ways, I would be like you and complaining (which is exactly what I did on this thread at first, last year). And do agree sleep score lame and sometimes USELESS. But throwing out my fitbit is just not an option after reading reviews on every other unit out there including Apple watch with puny 18 hour batter life. And now that I can see my sleep averages in two different ways I'm good enough. Though would still like to make that the default view if they ever get around to finally letting that happen. Take care and glad you at least can access some of that data now!

Thanks, Vinny

Question: When you refer to the Dashboard Home Page, is that the page that tracks steps, miles, calories and Sleep? Because there is no "average sleep hours" on mine. It only gives the Sleep Score Avg. and the double arrows on that give only the average Sleep Score for This Week

My daughter and her husband LOVE the Oura Ring. If I'd known about it before purchasing the Fitbit HR Alta, I'd have definitely gotten it, instead.

It's more accurate. There have been many nights when my sleep has not been recorded, or inaccurately done so.

Thanks, again.

From your iPhone, click on this icon (attached) and then click 'SLEEP'. From there do the scrolling/clicking mentioned above to see weeks/months/years of your sleep average data.

No "hate" at all fittybittyuser. Just that your kind of glib apple watch comments were missing quite a few other necessary facts. Guess you'll never see this since you've already "checked out of this forum". I'm an Apple guy. I would have bought the Apple watch to begin with if even CLOSE to what I get with Fitbit. Seriously. Good luck and best wishes to you.

20019052****  I have the Versa 2 (after the Versa 1 for a couple of years). No idea but I assume the Alta has the same features as what I've described about mine. My wife also has the Versa 2 with her iPhone 7.

I've seen so many devices but never heard of the aura ring. Will check it out even though very happy with everything about my Fitbit aside from the silly and useless sleep score.

Just a quick look right away tells me I'd miss the time/date/heart rate/steps/battery percentage/active minutes/calories/stairs climbed/miles walked that I can see with a simple flick of my wrist from my device. Plus I have almost 4 years of data to compare with which has some value. But a unique and interesting concept for sure.

TheVinny

I also do appreciate being able to turn off all of my iPhone ring tones and text messaging dings and instead just reply on my Fitbit notifications (vibration), including showing my actual text messages which is so much less intrusive than leaving my phone notifications sound on. I mean the list goes on and on for me for sticking with Fitbit despite the sleep score. I've taken my sleep average from 6 hours 53 minutes in 2017, to 7 hours 9 minutes in 2018, to 7:33 in 2019 and now right at 8 hours so far in 2020. FITBIT has allowed me the data to make those adjustments which are in many ways life changing. And, NO, I'm not a Fitbit employee and in fact have been quite vocal against the useless sleep score.
