More badges (Add badge ideas here!)

Need more creative badges and trophies rather than just the lifetime records... that could be more motivating.

Here are a few ideas:
- Badge for reaching 10000 steps for 7 days in a row, 15 days in a row, 50 days in a row...
- Badges based on active minutes/calories/kilometers
- How about some more crazy/funny badges like "night owl" for someone who regularly achieves a lot of steps at night, "out of bed" (same principle but for early morning), etc.
- Badges that reflect poor activity; for instance a badge if you don't reach 10000 steps/day once in 7 days, ...

I think that these are all ideas that could really enrich the experience of fitbit users by increasing motivation and I believe they are all relatively simple to implement in the Fitbit system!!

I would like to see a USA badge added: One for walking the distance from
the east coast to the west coast.

I think I posted this in another thread, but I still love the idea of activity based badges.

So for runners, there could be a 5k badge, 10k badge, half marathon and marathon badge, etc.

Swimmers, maybe badges like the 'swimming stripe' awards. Or a sea life themed badge!

Cycling badges, also based on distance.

And I like the idea of teaming up with other organisations for one-off badges like Strava does. Or even events Fitbit have put together themselves - like the annual Goal Day. We need more of those.

So much potential for badges...

I think you are exactly right. The purpose of the thread is to placate folk under the pretense that your ideas count ... like that old suggestion box that never gets opened.

Though I appreciate the simplicity of the FitBit the product it is overpriced for what it is and they certainly aren’t resilient. I agree it’s time for an upgrade.

I had an earlier suggestion for Mt Everest lifetime climb because it fits in a big gap early in lifetime climb badge sequence and it is iconic like the Pikes Peak Badge Idea.  I have reflected on the badge motivation and find them motivating.  There was a progression from badges and trophies as primary to relationships with other users as primary motivators for me. The badges play a role still, but for daily badges, conversations about last time I got more than a Boat Shoe, Olympic Sandal, or personal best in a challenge can be motivating and relation building too.

Race challenges to 100k, 250k, 500k and 1 million steps. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place badges.

Also Appalachian Trail badge (2200 lifetime miles).

Ha ha! Especially the idea that you can get one every 5000 steps then skips for 90 and 100,000 steps! Ridiculous!!

Phil M said it best. Why does this exist when clearly nobody from the company reads it nor ever responds.  Fitbit continues to develop new trackers in obtaining new customers instead to taking care of its current ones.  Badges for men are pure motivation; period!

My friends and I are avid and loyal Fitbit users.  We have all reached our lifetime climb badge of Satellite and need a new challenge, please!

As a former Apple Watch user who has converted to the ionic (and love it), one aspect of the Apple Watch I will miss is the automatic challenges when activity is achieved.

For example for New Years Apple kicks off the year with folks getting a badge by doing 30 minutes of activity.  The do this for various holidays throughout the year.

It gives users something nice to look forward to and provide something to motivate on various special holidays and events thoughout the year - providing further motivation and including everyone.

I really hope fitbit considers this implementation soon.

Add a second place badge, a top five badge and a top ten badge all depending on how many people are in the challenge. Often time I'm in a challenge we're first place is out of reach and me and my fitbit friends are all in a race for second. It would be nice if it felt other places meant something!

More badge options and challenges please! I've been using my fitbit since 2015 and have all the badges I could possibly earn. I guess you max out on fitbit badges at a certain mileage or something. The fitbit challenges are honestly just BORING now. Last year, I switched over to virtual races (vrc.com, yes.fit, stepbet, etc.) with my friends so we could stay motivated and reach our step goals which has helped. I just use my fitbit as a step tracker to sync with these other apps now. Get with it fitbit. We need things to encourage us and to stay motivated.

Better yet, let us create our own challenges and adventures.

It's a long haul between the The Earth Diameter (7,900 miles) and Pole to Pole (12,430 miles).  At 50 miles per week it takes 91 weeks or 1.75 years to cover the 4,530 miles between the badges.  Distance Badge Suggestions:

Perimeter of the United States Badge:  8,878 miles

Mercury Badge:  9,525 miles (around the planet's equator)

Arctic Circle Badge:  10,975 miles

The bigger issue, IMO, is that there are no more lifetime distance badges beyond Pole to Pole.  So, why not add Earth Equatorial Circumference too (24,901 miles).  And our nearest neighbors Mars (13,263 mi) and Venus (23,628 mi).

And worse yet is, as RobinWendl said a few posts back, the lifetime climb badges stop at a mere 35,000 floors.  I've participated in the Lifetime Climb Extension thread for years, back before all of the badge discussions got mashed up here.  I've suggested a whole series of lifetime climb badges beyond the 35,000 using the altitudes of actual Earth-orbiting satellites, like SRTM, the US space shuttle mission which created the digital elevation model on which the terrain map that Fitbit uses for GPS-tracked walks/hikes/runs is based (76,476 floors).  I just passed the Hubble Space Telescope's altitude at 178,806 floors.

More lifetime climb badges are sorely needed, please!

Great ideas - I suggest a badge for crossing from coast to coast of the
USA.

I’d love badges for swimming. Two models are waterproof specifically for swimming so it’s strange that there are no swimming badges.

I've also been working on the "squares" of the daily badges as an additional challenge, e.g., getting 100 floors/day 100 times... 25K steps/day 25 times...  So far, on the daily climb, I've squared the 200 floors/day (actually made this one 501 times as of today), and am now working on getting 300 times 300 floors/day (only 193 of these so far). And for daily steps, I've squared the 45K steps/day (now at 66 times for this one), and am working on 50K (only 30 of these so far). This just keeps getting tougher!

steama.pngI would definitely love to have more badges on my Fitbit, especially like the funny badges idea! Smiley Very Happy

This reminds me Steam achievements for some reason! It feels so satisfying to receive the achievements once in a while, and to smile at the silly ones... imagine how satisfying it might be while you do sports! So I bet the more badges the better!

I'll make it simple... More funny badges - more happy smiles on people faces!! Smiley Wink

Would love to see more additions to the Lifetime distance having reached the Pole to Pole, and realised its currently the final achievement.

E.G.

Distance around the Tropic of Cancer(for those in the Northern hemisphere), and/or the Tropic of Capricorn(for those in the Southern Hemisphere).

Distance around the Equator, latitude.

Distance around the world, longitude.(this may be shorter than the latitude).

I'm with you Loloaqic.  I just achieved Pole to Pole too, and I'll be working towards Tropic of Cancer/Capricorn [22,859 miles], Earth meridional (pole-to-pole) circumference [24,812 miles], and Earth equatorial circumference  [24,900 miles] whether Fitbit awards badges or not!

As Tracker4Me mentioned above, a badge for distance around the Arctic/Antarctic Circle [10,975 miles] would be a nice intermediate between Earth Diameter & Pole to Pole, but since Fitbit won't add these, you just have to track & celebrate them yourself.

Badges with the names of famous mountains or climbs, that equate the number of steps.  That would be cool.  Or distances badges with the names of famous trails.  "You just walked El Camino a Santiago", "You just climbed Mt Everest", stuff like that.
