More clock/watch faces for the Charge 3!

So, the Charge 3 is out and there is a huge let down:

There are only 5 clock/watch faces:charge 3 clock.png

Come on Fitbit...at least include all the Charge 2 watch faces too. We all loved the Charge 2 watch face with the time, date and the highlighted feature (steps/heart rate etc.)

Whats missing:

- Faces with the actual DATE and DAY

- Faces with a DIGITAL SECONDS TIMER

Or to say it again, just include the Charge 2 watch faces. Thanks in advance.

Sent mine back and purchased the Apple Watch Series 4. Best decision ever. More expensive for sure but no complaints

Yes, please give us back some of the Charge 2 faces. Date / Time and Steps / Heart  - that was my optimal skin and i Charge 3 is lacking  this and existing one seem much more unbalanced (wasted space at time)

@SantiRIt's great that this has been picked up. I just received my new charge3 after months of missing my charge2. My disappointment that the clock face attached is not present was huge. I was also very surprised to not even see a substitute with the same features, even with the update that I pulled down this morning.

Is there anything like this planned? What kind of timescale are we looking at? I'm very much missing my Charge2 at the moment and very tempted to return this and replace it with a new Charge2.

Thanks for listening.

@SantiRHere's the face I mentioned (Sorry couldn't find an edit button .. or work out how the attach photo works). It's the bottom right on this link : https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/More-clock-watch-faces-for-the-Charge-3/idc-p/29...

With the heart rate, step count, date and time both digital.

Thanks again!

Please include/release watch faces for showing other goals. My goal is calories burned, not steps, and I'd like to see this on my main screen. (I honestly don't care about the time itself.)

Alternatively/additionally, please release an API so that we can design and upload our own clock faces to our watches.

@debgumm Go with the Apple watch if you want a smart watch that has no native sleep tracking and has to be recharged every other day. The charge 3 still is a fitness tracker with smart features that you don't need to worry all day long.

If you wanted a smart watch, the charge 3 was the wrong choice.

With the current release and most definitely more watch faces and apps to come I don't miss anything about the charge 3.

@jane89 I have a Fitbit charge 2 for two years now love it except its not waterproof.I was seeing how reviews were on charge 3 thank goodness I never bought one.I like the smart features on Apple 4.I do track my sleep.I charge my charge 2 every day while I shower so it never goes dead.I think that’s what I would have to do with Apple 4 if I decide to buy that instead.I could be like my dad wear Apple on one wrist and Fitbit on other wrist?Or maybe just wear charge 2 to bed and Apple during day if I buy Apple 4?thanks for your help if u think of anything else about Apple 4 please do let me know.

@debgumm I don't own an apple watch as the charge 3 is perfect for me. I wouldn't use two incompatible trackers as you need two different apps and have two incompatible sets of data which I wouldn't like. But that's just my opinion.

If you want opinions and support to buy an Apple watch I would suggest you have a look in the respective forums.

I agree! I’m so disappointed

i can hardly read the step counter and can’t see the heart rate. It’s lije I’ve got a lesser version of my fitness tracker 😞

A lot of people here need to step back and get some perspective. First of all, this is a thread about requesting more clock faces--that's all. So all your complaints about other issues are not going to get addressed by you complaining here. As someone else already mentioned, this is a fitness tracker with a few smart-watch-like features, not a full fledged smartwatch, and it was never advertised as a smart watch. If you're happier with another brand's full fledged smartwatch, great, but it's really bad form to come here recommending a different product--that's not what this forum is for, and if you bought a fitness tracker expecting a smartwatch, that mistake is on you, not Fitbit.

Second of all, there seem to be a lot of armchair software developers and engineering managers here based on the number of people saying how easy it should be to just "give us what we want." Keep in mind that they probably don't have a dev team dedicated to the Charge 3, their devs likely support all their devices so they can't drop everything to build out a thousand different personal iterations of watch faces all at once to make sure everyone gets the EXACT face they'd like. Is it a bummer that there aren't some faces ported over from the Charge 2 that we all naturally thought would be here? Of course. But the device is a month old and they've released three new clock faces based on this request already. Is there more to do, sure, but they are obviously listening and responding to the feedback. They also are apparently trying to correct other glitches people are experiencing, finishing up post-launch features that were promised and also maintaining their other products. Get some chill people! If you think the garden is greener somewhere else, I hate to break it to you, but every gadget has issues out of the gate, no matter how well tested. Every software update causes problems for some subsection of the user base. Someone is always unhappy with their purchase and wanting more features. You're not special!

If you want more watch faces, that's all you need to say here.  Add your voice to the thread and your vote to the count and then be patient while they do their job. But coming on here and repeatedly lambasting Fitbit, threatening to return your product and buy a competitor, those things aren't going to get the issue dealt with any faster, and all you're doing is making some forum moderator's life miserable for no reason.

Ummm
I didn’t ever say I wanted a smart watch, I just want the same features that my Fitbit charge 2 has. If I’d have known this was the only click face me and they were not an improvement on the previous version, I would not have wasters $300 when I had a great fit bit charge 2.
But you are right, this thread gives a moderators headache so I shall just pack it back up and return it, get my $300 back and get on with my life. In fact I suggest to everyone on this thread to do the same, then there is no reason for a thread, or a moderator or their headache. And in future we can all buy products that do give us what we want, in exchange for our money.
Thanks

any thoughts on the new update released today? no progress on clock faces, it seems...

the "analog stat" looked promising but its misleading. icon shows date, but doesnt display it. still, none offer DAY OF THE WEEK, and never a choice in stats. i dont give a crap about steps, let me display calories.

how hard is this:

_____________

WED  NOV 7

      10:07

(w/ seconds)

(main goal1)

(main goal2)

LOL. You spent $300 on a $150 fitness tracker, so I think you've got bigger issues than clock faces!

The frustration of being ignored, not knowing if anything is happening, and the complete lack of any informational input from anyone connected with Fitbit is firing the attitudes on here.

The point about smart watches is valid, but you will find that most people simply want the functionality of the Charge 2, we are unhappy because we have bought what was advertised to be a great leap onwards in fitness monitoring. What we received is currently considerably less, with no action plan, no feedback, not even acknowledgement that there is a problem.

Please note that this whole thread with most people singing from the same hymn book is categorised as "Under Consideration".

That attitude plus the strictly limited replies of the moderators are what is fuelling the flames.

Just ignore them, they'll go away.

Well, they just might...

300 is almost right. 150 for the watch, a couple bands, extra charger and service warrantee came out to just under 300 for me as well

That's the thing, though, this thread hasn't been ignored. They've added more watch faces twice now, and promised more.  Meanwhile, this thread has ballooned from "we're unhappy with the selection of watch faces and here's something we'd like to see", to "this whole thing is a piece of crap and this one aspect I don't like means it's a waste of money and also here are 4 other features you never promised that I want that are totally unrelated to the clock faces and if I don't get it RIGHT NOW I'm going to go buy an Apple THAT'LL SHOW YOU!" It's just not productive, and the people who are posting along those lines should be as ashamed of themselves as if they had berated a person to their face in public. Everyone needs to grow up and chill out.

The little clip on one

For my money, I wanted a better version of the previous one, I don’t care about a giant clock face, I care about the fitness data as it is a fitness tracker not a digital watch.

I am a consumer buying a product and fully entitled to get a product which I am happy with. I was happy with my charge 2 but the charge 3 promised so much more and hadn’t delivered. I am not returning it and buying Apple, I am returning it and getting my charge 2 out of the draw and putting it back on, because the clock face features were better.

But, I am a fit bit fan.

Why are you responding like I directed my comment at you, Sue? If it doesn't apply to you, just move along. It definitely applies to many of the other several hundred people who have posted on this thread.

Great, so what happens if you go swimming in your fitbit 2? I think the 3 being waterproof is a HUGE advancement and each new watch face they release is getting closer to perfect.

I will admit that now that the new clock face has been made accessible, apart from the fact that I still have to scroll to get to my step count, I am becoming more enamoured with the watch.  Still a few glitches in the interface that are frustrating (watch won't sync sleep first thing in the morning but somehow shows up later in the day?!) but hopefully will get worked out over time.

CJoyceD
Jogger

That glitch happens with my Ipad app - it will sync, but nothing shows up (sleeps or steps) until I close the app and re-open it, then all the data shows up.   Somehow the data goes to the server, but doesn't get back to the app.    When using sync with the iPhone  the data populates immediately - not sure why they both don't work that way as the app is the same, but it is only a minor inconvenience.    Although I'd like better clock faces (like the Charge 2 main face), I'm fairly happy with the Charge 3.   The fact that it is swim proof is why I upgraded.

@Greatheights I find myself a bit conflicted by your posts.

I agree that the purpose of the thread has clearly fragmented.  Also, as someone who has developed software professionally, for a very long time, I find that lay people frequently misunderstand the "ease" of development.

That said, I still believe you let Fitbit off lightly.

First, with regard to off-topic posts, I think part of the fault lies with poor communication on the part of Fitbit.  There are, at this point, several hundred posts by concerned, paying customers.  There has been little official communication (from Fitbit) in response.  There were a couple of vague promises of "something soon".  There were also a couple more laudable notices, indicating a release, but with few details (e.g. a picture) that would normally accompany such a notification.

Continuing on the subject of fragmentation, I made an effort to lend more focus to one of the common requests in this fragmented topic. Many of the requests relate to simply providing more choice.  By contrast, my (and others) concerns relate to adding a single face with more information and better visibility (less gray text).  Many of us, like myself, have less than perfect vision.

To avoid confusion, I started a separate feature request focused on this issue.  After receiving about 40 votes, it suddenly dropped to zero votes, is no longer eligible for voting, and is hidden in search results.  Perhaps others have made similar attempts at clarification and are similarly frustrated with the end result.

With regard to progress, I suspect you are exactly correct...there is not a team dedicated to this device.  My guess is that more resources are dedicated to Versa and similar future smartwatch-style devices (which seem more popular).  While I personally think this is a poor management decision, I am open to other views.  One way of dealing with such resource limitations, might be to communicate a carefully worded acknowledgement of these challenges with customers.

For my part, I am part of the demographic for fitness tracking devices (with limited notification).  For other needs, I already have an Android phone.  I have little interest in lugging around a slightly smaller equivalent on my wrist.  Maybe, if Wear OS eventually offers a much smaller device with significantly better battery life, I'll change my mind...but I doubt it.

I can't speak to others concerns.  Mine are the expectation that a new "improved" device should retain similar capabilities to a pre-existing device (Charge 2).  For my part, I was very exciting about the swim-proof capabilities and reduced weight of the Charge 3.  I am less happy with the reduced information per screen and reduced visibility.

Lacking the source code, I cannot speak to the exact difficulties with adding new clock / watch faces.  That said, I can speak from over 35 years of generalized development experience.  I've worked with room-sized devices, from the 70s, that had far less capacity than this watch.  I've also worked for recent telecoms with devices that track hundreds of millions of transactions per day.

With this experience, I only see two possibilities: 1) there are conceptual issues making it (unnecessarily)difficult to alter/add faces OR 2) this is simply not a priority.  On similar projects I've worked on, we had a small configurable set of data to control presentation...no programming required...a little like static HTML, but way more primitive.

One other thing we (most engineers) strive for is backwards compatibility.  Little thought seems to have been given towards this goal.  Otherwise, all of the Charge 2 users (like myself) would have nothing to complain about.

That said, like you, I wish off-topic requests (e.g. desires for more challenges) would find their way to more on-topic threads.  In other forums, in which I've participated, moderators typically move these off-topic posts to more appropriate threads.

Personally, even with the off-topic posts, I have a bit more sympathy for the customers who give (pay) money for a product than I do for the company that takes that same money.  I'm all for capitalism, but still think companies should try to meet reasonable customer expectations, if for no other reason than to realize greater profits.

Possibly, this post will be hidden, like my earlier feature suggestion.  I hope not.  I also continue to hope (and suspect) that Fitbit will eventually correct these issues.  I simply wish they did so with greater urgency and better communication.
