Hi, after patiently waiting, I got rid of my versa 3 and got a versa 2. For the first time in months, I happily jogged to my own beats without my phone! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Frankly, I don’t care about the onboard gps, as the watch counts my step, distance, etc. (besides, I know where I’ve been and don’t need a watch to tell me 🙄) The only reason that I didn’t opt for an Apple Watch is they all have a horrible (& I mean horrible) battery life. I’m quite happy now 👍🏽😊👌🏽
Very disappointed that there is no music storage. Went back and forth between Apple watch and the Fitbit sense. Wishing I had just gone with the Apple watch due to the music. I'll be sending my husbands Versa 3 back and getting the Apple he won't do without his music. What a let down.
Include me in the group that is very disappointed to find out there isn't any music storage on the Versa 3. I got one (as a birthday present today) partially based on the claims, right on the box, that you can play music on the watch straight to your BT headphones without needing your phone. Color me disappointed to find out that there are severe limitations and restrictions to make this happen - you have to have a paid subscription with Deezer or Spotify.
Well, I'm on Youtube Music subscription (formerly Google Play Music), and I also have my own large collection of MP3s. I'm not going to sign up for yet another paid subscription to get this. I know a friend with an older Versa and he can put his own music right on the watch. Why can't we?
This is absolutely ridiculous, imagine paying for a premium product that is objectively worse than it's predecessor. What's the point in even having the watch tracking runs when I end up having to bring my phone with me anyway. And the GPS is dreadful on the Sense too - always misses the first minute of so of the run. Utterly useless.

CoffeeGeeker, that is my exact scenario: I have Youtube Music and a ton of my own mp3's (which is why I opted for YTM to begin with). I ordered the Versa 3 with the understanding I could load my own music onto it. While it was in transit I learned of this limitation. Didn't even bother opening it -- just immediately returned it.
Let's face it, folks, In no way, shape, or form is Fitbit ever going to acknowledge our issue. They are simply making too much money from the monopoly that they have given to the two music services. When my Ionic finally dies I too will move onto a platform that supports my personal music collection and doesn't make me use theirs. Our only real hope is that the folks at Google take over and bother to read these forums, but I really don't like our chances.
That 529 number are just those that posted in the forum. I imagine there are hundreds of other loyal Fitbit customers that have returned their watches due to the lack of ability to downoad your own music, and not posted anything.
Unfortunately for me, I jumped on purchasing the Sense when it first came out and couldn't return it after I found that I couldn't download my music.
I commented on Amazon.com to let all those who were thinking of purchasing the watch to warn them of the issue, hoping they would not purchase it and go to another source (Apple, Garmin etc.).
It is sad, but if they don't fix this problem, I will never purchase any Fitbit product in the future, nor recommend one to anyone.
Good-bye Fitbit. You sure know how to lose your loyal customers!
Disagree that we can not do anything. We still need to spread the word on social media and giving (bad) reviews until they change their idea. Losing customers will cost them much more than just adding this feature back.
Everybody that promoted fitbit will now turn to others brands... Hopefully there is action from fitbit. Otherwise Google bought an empty box...
I previously had a Charge and then a Versa 2. I loved the music storage on the Versa but still had to lug my phone with me since there was no onboard GPS. Truthfully, when I ordered my new Sense, I chose it because I thought I was getting both GPS and music storage, so I could leave the darn phone home. I'm very disappointed not to have music storage and would really appreciate Fitbit adding it back, especially since I'm not interested in signing up for a paid subscription after coughing up over $400 for the watch.
Fitbit seems to be loosing it's direction. Is it a hardware company or a software / services company???? Paying several hundred dollars for a watch and then stuffing music, a lot of the metrics and other advanced features behind a pay wall is just bad business.
Ultimately it's unlikely they will add this feature back. I'm sure the hardware could support it but I'm sure they have agreements with their music streaming partners which will prevent it.
I've been a Fitbit user since the beginning but I doubt my next device will be a Fitbit.
With a firmware update bring back the personal music app like on the Ionic. I tried uploading my personal music using a trial of Deezer and they wouldn't allow it. They said it must be downloaded from their library.
My workout music are custom EDM tracks that are at least an hour long from YouTube so there is no way they would have that.
Hi @TheLoneSaiyan, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to storage music on Sense/Versa 3. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.
Thanks @YojanaFitbit at least some hope here. Looking ward to seeing what the answer is. Would hate to get rid of such a good fitbit only because of music storage.
Was really hoping to be able to download at least my Spotify playlists so I don't have to take a watch, a bluetooth headset, AND a phone with me when I go for a walk. Disappointed in the lack of this feature!
I bought Sense as I saw it support Spotify, only to learn that it cannot store music offline as it is possible with Deezer/Pandora. Can anyone from Fitbit company explain this? I hope this will be fixed soon, as I'm used to listen to music and podcasts on Spotify on my run.
Hiya, try asking them on @Fitbit & @fitbituk, you may get a quicker response. Possibly due to the thousands of followers, as opposed to the hundreds on here.
Looking at upgrading my FitBit HR and the main thing I was looking for was the ability to detach from my phone. With the built in GPS the Versa 3 was a great option until.... no personal music download. It really is ridiculous to force a user to pay a premium subscription for Pandora / Deezer to listen to music while running / working out. Especially when it used to be available... This is a deal breaker and I can't get / recommend this product until that issue is fixed. I've been a long time FitBit user but this is really dissapointing.
Also bitte, liebes Fitbit Team! Bringt die Musik Speicher Funktion auf der Versa 3 zurück! 🙏🙏
Why do you base your assessment only via voting system? Just enable music storage or remove walking/running from your exercise app. Do you think all versa 3 owners will find this feature suggestions link in the form and cast their vote? Do you know how many would have turned down versa 3 or sense just because of this? Cheaper smartwatches are offering storage for music. Why should I go for Spotify premium subscription just to control music from watch? Why are you fooling your fan-base?
