New updated clip on tracker

I have had a One for 3 years now and love it but am a bit disappointed that some features are not available on it (e.g.. active mins per hour etc). Please can you make a new clip on fitbit with more features. I really don't want a wrist one at all.

I agree. My Fitbit is starting to fail and I don’t know what I’m going to do. I will not wear a wrist tracker.

I too was very frustrated when my Fitbit One stopped working (ran it through the washing machine) and I discovered that it had been discontinued.  I do not want a wrist tracker.  I hate wearing things on my wrists (watches, bracelets, etc.), and I also want my tracker to be more discreet.  I ended up buying the Flex 2 and purchased an inexpensive clip holder for it from a third-party seller on Amazon.  The little clip holder stays attached with a magnet and is secure yet easy to put on and take off when desired -- better than the clip holder for the One which I sometimes found slightly challenging to clip onto my clothing depending on what I was wearing, especially thicker waist bands.  The step tracking seems to be accurate with while wearing it with the clip even though it wasn't designed to be worn that way.  I sometimes count my steps in my head as I'm walking while watching the count on the Fitbit app just to double-check, and the number is pretty close to identical.  I don't know why Fitbit doesn't get it that people want a sophisticated, slim-designed tracker with a rechargeable battery that can be worn with a clip rather than on the wrist.  Since I acquired the clip for it, I'm a little happier with the Flex 2, but one of my main complaints remains the inferior battery life.  The One would stay charged for 7 to 10 days, whereas the Flex 2 only lasts for about 4 days (with most of the features turned off). Fitbit needs to significantly upgrade the battery life.

As a loyal Fitbit user PLEASE PLEASE bring back the ONE or a new and improved ONE!  I’ve been using the Ultra before the ONE and just replaced my Aria with the Aria2. I’m a true Fitbit fan. Unfortunately I will not use the Zip because it doesn’t do what the ONE does. And the Flex is on the arm. I like the idea of wearing my Fitbit on the inside not on the outside.

Looking forward to seeing very soon a new and improved Fitbit ONE!!!

A loyal Fitbit user!

Yes, I cannot wear a wrist version.  I loved my Fitbit One because it clipped and counted steps accurately and also included stairs.  If Fitbit could find a way to adapt the Charge 2 so it could be used as a clip-on, I would buy it.

Since you no longer make the One, could you offer a Zip tracker plus stairs counter?  It doesn't need a heartrate counter, just steps and stairs and be a clip on.  Wrist devices don't work for me.  Thank you.

Yes- they love to move posts to other areas, even if they aren't as similar
as they think... Not even sure why support encouraged me to create a post
in the first place if they were just going to move it wherever they wanted
to.

Annoying to no end for users but they now have a history of ignoring their
users, which is why there are sooo many One users complaining about it
being discontinued. I am still wondering what user research informed this
decision. They apparently cannot answer this.

I find if you keep complaining and not buy any of the other products maybe it will work and they will take notice. I spoke to one of their customer service person who told me to write to the company and start this blog. They told me that they get a lot of phone call requesting the ONE or something like it that does the same or better be brought back.
Let’s start calling customer service and writing to. Them thru the app. They will write to but some other Fitbit product. I just write back that I want the ONE only

Hello @nametaken,
Actually your post WAS visible at some point ....gave me the idea to try to communicate directly through Fitbit heasquarters.

The problem with the forum is that if something is removed then our responses to it also disappear and Fitbit doesn’t get it. They do remove personal info even if you post your own, and I suspect removal
and banning is left to
Moderator discretion .
Maybe the press ? Some local
Business show thAt sees the
Need for a One replacement?

Unfortunately, I don’t have any alternate communication suggestions. Something on Facebook?
Thanks from me for continuing to try to get another One!
I still need to figure out a quick way to vote. My iPhone 5s just might be out of data-along with my One😏

I have tried Facebook and Twitter and they responsd with "We have something for everyone".

HA!   Clearly they don't.

I should try that too

They have something for everyone, as long as they want a wrist tracker or a battery wasting Zip.

I agree, they are not looking at the bigger picture.  All I want is a clip on tracker that is accurate and counts stairs.  The Zip is bulky, not discret and does not count stairs.  UGH!

@MatthewFitbit, thanks for the reply. I realize it’s not likely moderators and customer service my phone likely don’t make the ultimate decisions.

I would like to share that, at least to speak for myself, I don’t feel “heard” by the Fitbit team when our posts suggesting to “Bring back the One” are relocated here. That’s a different recommendation than this post we’ve all been redirected to.

Also, the official FitBit response we’ve been referred to that heads this post doesn’t address these questions that keep coming up:

-Why, specifically, was the One discontinued?

-Which of your products is available to me as an individual with a medical need (not a preference, although it is a preference) that requires me to not to use a wrist-based tracker, that has the same features of the One, or FitBit’s more advanced products? I’m insulted to be constantly told there’s “something for everyone,” in response to this question. Are we not to be included? I don’t believe I should be pushed to an inferior product (the Zip, which from reports in your own forums, is larger, has shorter battery life, and we know already, lacks the features of the other FitBit products.) because my body is apparently different than the type FitBit is designing for.

At the very least, having a direct response to the latter question would make me feel “heard,” even if it doesn’t change FitBit’s decision.

I think this is what we all have been looking for.  At least an answer as to why the One was discontinued with no replacement option.  I agree with CMC1 that the Zip is bulky and cannot be easily worn underneath clothes or less obvious.

We have, unfortunately, been given this answer.  To translate it from corporate-speak and spin-doctor language, the answer is this:

We want people to advertise our products for free.  We want everyone to know that you're wearing a Fitbit product.  If you have it in your pocket, bra, belt, or some other discreet location, people can't see it, and we don't get the free advertising.  Further, we don't believe the clip-on market is viable...we don't think we can sell enough to make it worth our while.

Exactly - As persistent and vocal as we've been in this thread and elsewhere, we're not moving the needle at Fitbit. The point about the free advertising offered by wrist-worn trackers is one we have to concede.

I'm wearing my One until it dies because it provides the most accurate step and floor counts.  Directly due to Fitbit cancelling the One, I also have a Garmin on my wrist - a rather expensive way of piloting a wrist-worn tracker. Frankly, I was so mad at Fitbit that I investigated the competition, and found something I liked that was both waterproof and had an altimeter. I get ~5% less steps per day on average with the Garmin, and the floor count is way off due to the device's waterproofing. Waterproof + barometric altimeter is a rather weak combination industry-wide, I've learned. Also, Garmin hasn't figured out the "mowing the lawn, pushing a shopping cart or stroller" problem where you don't get steps because you're not swinging your arms.

So, vote with your wallet, too, and consider pointing out the gap the One has left in the market to the competition, as well. Maybe another company will listen...?

One would think the fact people buy the wrist trackers and only wear them for a few weeks would be a sign. Wrist trackers are inaccurate and uncomfortable to wear. The only people I know who consistently wear their trackers are the One Owners. The One does advertise Fitbit as has the logo on the clip, which is visible.

Has anyone who loves the fitbit one tried out the  Garmin vivoki?  Its a clip on, looks a bit bulky like the Zip, but may be an alternative now that Fitbit is clearly not interested in helping all of us One users that love it so much?

I've been wearing a FitBit Alta HR in a clip that I got from Amazon. My
step count is about the same as in my old FitBit One and if I want to wear
it on my wrist, it has sleep tracking and HR capability (I don't wear it on
my wrist often though, I clip it to my bra). It's a good replacement, the
main thing missing is the stairs counter- which was neat but not essential
to me.

@Happy.  I haven't tried the Vivoki, but did wear/compare the Garmin Vivifit (also a wrist model, but has a clip option). After using Fitbit for years (and years) I really had a hard time adapting to a different system. I'd get frustrated when I couldn't initiate a sync from the app (had to hold down the button on the device). The backlit screen is NOT the same as an illuminated screen (you'll find that difference with the Zip to One was well), I missed a ton of features ... main frustration is that Garmin seems obsessed with runners. While it counts steps (during a timed workout and toward the daily total) to see steps for an individual workout, you have to check them before you stop the timer, and write them down manually, because then that number is gone. In your "workout" stats, you get calories (if you are lucky, they didn't show up half the time either) and MILES and pace. I don't care about miles and pace, I want steps! The steps counted were quite a bit below my One, and calories burn (unless I was running) was WAY below, like half, of Fitbit's estimate. Who knows if Fitbit is correct, but it always seemed closer to expectations.

I've also experimented with a Fitbit Alta and a Fitbit Charge2 in clips (you can find clips for the Alta easily, not so much for the Charge2, but my GarminVivofit experiment above lead me to try my old Charge2 in the clip I had for it, and it fit). Also trying out an old Zip ... and the wrist models clipped were closer in count to my one than the Zip was (all generally came in a bit above my One, worn on my torso - I think wearing on the waist just counts more steps, and that's where I was trying out these others).

My One is still working - but when it goes, I'll simply switch to a Charge2 worn clipped. All the same features (even a few more), only slightly larger (I can still wear it on my bra) and I can stick with the Fitbit app/program I am used to (and everything I have my Fitbit connected to, like MFP, Achievement, etc.)

Strange. I disagree with their idea that the wrist trackers are better free advertisement. I've had more people ask me about my One than my Charge HR just because people are actually more interested to know about a clip-tracker. Wrist trackers are ubiquitous and are not novel.
