Option to show Kilojoules in Dashboard and all apps

Many countries favour using Kilojoules instead of calouries for enrgy input and output. Please add the option to choose in all relevent dashboard areas.

Mathematically it's not a hard conversion, but it would change the logic throughout the dashboard and in all associated applications. That is what would take a lot of work.

But, speaking from a business and sales perspective.

Supporting metric would make the devices and software more appealing across the world.

So the return on time invested would be there I believe.

My opinion 🙂

immensely frustrating to have to continually convert Kilojoule to calories.

Just looking to get fit and borrowed this fitbit surge from a friend before I go a buy my own. Guess what? No "KILOJOULES"! I have read most of this forum and can't believe fitbit don't have the kilojoule option. Hello fitbit, there is even a website called www.8700.com.au just so us mob down under know how much we should be eating every day.

So looks like fitbit are doing nothing about this judging by the forums so far. So that is fitbit off the list. Next?

+1 Please add kilojoules option. Essential for the non-US market.

It's just math. 4.186 kilojoules to a calorie, I could live with 4.2 or simply 4 is close enough. What's so hard?

That's the point - what's so hard

Been on all the pages. It's nice that social media folk are so polite and point us back here. Fitbitters - it is time to throw some "energy" behind kilojoules

I paid the same as people who use calories, why should I get less functionality, & if I wanted to do maths I wouldn't have bought a supposedly high tech tracker. What's so hard for the world's leading brand to fix a bug?

G'day,

Yes, I too am an Aussie, and would love to see the apps include an option to change from calories to kj.

It's an option I know is easy to implement.

I usually use myfitnesspal to add foods as it lists far more foods, including Aussie recipe's. Mfp also offer the kj option which suits me very well. What I find confusing is that mfp will show a kj option, and either mfp convert kj to calories or Fitbits, but no matter who does it, it is done, and seems to be an incorrect method.

How do I vote?

I thought there was a pole, but so far haven't been able to find one?

Cheers

The lack of kilojoules is very annoying. I thought it would at least convert to kilojoules in MyFitnessPal. But instead I get two tyes of measurement, ie. it adds  calories to my kilojoule intake which is both pointless and confusing. This has obviously been an ongoing issue for other users for several years, why hasn't it been addressed by Fitbit? Wish I had known before I purchased.

I also cannot find where to vote.

Its almost unbelievable this is not there. This is not our first fitbit foray, with earlier versions of the 'watch', more recent upgrades, and a smart scale. How on earth can it be that all of those have every sensible metric option except cal <=> kJ?

The whole POINT of fitbit type devices is to make it seamless and hassle-free to keep track of this stuff. Of course i can multiply by this or divide by that, but then I can also just keep a little notebook and write it down, and run my own spreadsheet, and ... hang on, wasn't that what fitbit does?

EVERYWHERE has kJ (except USA), and that means we are continually having to convert. But actually we just don't bother, its not impossible, its just a hassle, and you only need to get it wrong a couple times accidentally and it all becomes not worth it. So what was the point of having the tracker item? That's a LOT of work for that bit of the app to be let down by a very simple conversion option (yes it IS simple, we are both IT, app and related developers).

We travel a LOT, and we still want to keep track, and extra hassle = just too hard. We want to stick with fitbit, because everything works well together, but honestly, this is just a **ahem** pain!

My partner is USA, and struggles the other way, so we both understand, but this is becoming a deal-breaker. Many options out there now that do offer all in metrics and US, and a few that at least claim to be able to sync to fitbit gear (our current 'watches', scales)..

What will we decide when we upgrade shortly?

Well cal => kJ (and other metric/USA issues) is going to be a factor, I know that.

An extremely simple feature request has been sitting idle - no, sorry, "Reciewed by moderator" since 2013.

Not good enough.

And we have been on and voted and voted and voted - it is a small app

So it seems this forum goes unmonitored and ignored by Fitbit, it's just a place for us to vent. Is there another way for our voices to be heard? Maybe we all need to be more direct in our complaint to them. How many people have been requesting this change?

Only 434 votes on this since 2013, I guess it's unlikely to be changed. 😔

Time for all non-American, kilojoule users to post on the facebook page. I've had it, when this one dies I'll go elsewhere.

Just purchased two fitbit altas yesturday and while all the features look great, I couldn't beleive there is no Kilojules on this thing. What century are we living in? I will take these back for a full refund if this is not sorted sooner rather than later.

In Australia a unit of food energy is measured in Kilojoules, the calorie only option in Fitbit makes it very confusing when using Kilojoules in MyFitnessPal and calories in Fitbit. I will have to disconnect the two accounts so it's easier to follow. As Fitbit products are sold in Australia it only makes sense that there would be an option for Kilojoules as well.

Did anyone get a response from posting on the FB page?

I love my Fitbit, but anyone wanting to return them I would suggest that they may be 'not fit for purpose' when sold in Australia and you should be entitled to a refund. I didn't find any information prior to purchase that said that they only counted Calories which isn't a standard measurement in Australia.

3 years later and STILL this basic feature fails to be added.  Seriously it would take 15 mins to implement.  Heck give me the source code and I'll do it myself.
