Option to turn off step count (or add "Driving Mode") to avoid erroneous steps/floors

I just got home yesterday from a driving 6 hours in my car and I checked my Fitbit. I was really suprised to see it had given me almost 8,000 steps, 3.24 miles, 134 floors, & way more calories thank I burned while I was sitting in my car.  I looked on the forum to see how to easily delete the steps, miles, floors, and calories so my data would be accurate.  The only way people are fixing it is by manually logging the activity "Automobile or light truck (not a semi) driving" and entering in the duration.  I think that is a cumbersome way to fix the issue everytime I drive because I have to make sure I write down what time I get into and out of my car so I know the start time and duration.  And how does it automatically know the calories burned when everyone burns calories when they are sedentary at different rates.

I think they should add a "Drive Mode" feature that when turned on it won't add steps, distance, floors, & will only add calories burned equal to you sitting in a chair.

You could access the "Drive Mode" either on your Fitbit One or on your phone app to turn it on/off.  If you have a Fitbit One you could press the button till the "Drive Mode" icon appears then hold the button down for 2 seconds to turn it on or off.

On the phone apps you would just go to your device under "Account" and there you could turn it on or off.

You could also have the option to give you an alert when you unlock the phone that reminds you that it is in "Drive Mode" so you don't forget to turn it off when you get to your destination.  It would also be cool if you could use Siri to turn it on by saying "Turn on Fitbit Drive Mode" or "Turn off Fitbit Drive Mode".

I agree, I will also be voting with my wallet. Unfortunately the quality of Fitbit products has been going downhill, and the fact that simple quality of life features such as a button disabling step count doesn’t exist from the watch face after over 10 years of user feedback is just unacceptable.

I will also share that I am switching to Garmin, which is better optimized for athletes AND offers the ability to disable step counting from the watch face.

Agree with you both. Fitbit is too worried about advances in tracking your
data and profiting off their customers than giving the paying customer a
better experience! Each and every day it seems they are doing more to
“learn” and profit from their users and their data. Not fixing this whole
getting steps while driving debacle for many many years has pushed me to
move to Samsung. What a shame..

I  need help. I've lost all past saved steps since August 26  2024 Through current date of Sept 8, 3924. At midnight after keeping track ALL DAY, the steps disappear & no longer show from day before, BUT saves all other data I input. Can anyone help me figure out how to restore my recent step tracking? I have always used my Fitbit One. Only tracker I've had since around 2012. Would really appreciate any tips, fixes or suggestions. Thank you! Hope to hear back from others with same issue & have restored or can start fresh with tracking that saves & a sleep chart that makes sense... Since last update in sleep tracker is a bust & does not give any good usable data like previous version. Again thank you in advance!

Please have an option to set the Versa 4 into Airplane mode.
This will turn off the bluetooth so we can use it as a "dummy" watch only mode.
It is increasingly popular to have this mode in smartwatches and fitness trackers

Dear Fitbit Team,

This feature has been long pending, it looks so useless to wear the charge band while driving any vehicle. What did does it take for your development team to include this feature.

School bus driver here, logging ~10,000 steps daily while driving.  Used to be able to log driving as an exercise and it would remove steps and calorie burn. Pain in the tookus, but it worked. Now I can't even do that! Still keeps accurate time, so there's that. Seriously, Fitbit! Write in a way for those of us that drive to not count steps! The fitbit one apparently had a driving mode. Surely it can't be that hard to modify that code for wearables.

Apparently Fitbit, and now Google, doesn't value their customers enough to implement a "Driving" mode. This issue is over two years old. My Sense 2 is my first AND LAST Fitbit/Google smartwatch!
