Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

Please add a nursing/pumping setting. I would think a large portion of your clientele are women who currently or will eventually be lactating. Also keep in mind that the amount of calories burned while lactating depends on the oz made, so the ability to adjust the oz should be included in this feature.

I understand there was a pregnancy setting that did nothing before. It'd be great if this could be brought back. Minimally it could just be a way of saying "Hey weight loss isn't the primary goal right now". It would be nice to get some kudos for getting more activity or maintaining activity while pregnant as well as it's important. If there was a way to add due date so that trimester information could be calculated that could be helpful as well.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I'm new to the Fitbit gang. I am looking for friends so feel free to friend me.  I read online that for every 1 ounce of Milk you pump you burn 20 calories. I tried to create an exercise for 20 minutes in the app and I named it pumping milk but it only shows 39 calories. I am unable to change the calories burned. Maybe Fitbit would be willing to let us add an exercise where we can change the calories. I called Fitbit and was told not many Fitbit customers are concerned about the calories burned as it is just an estimate. Also that Fitbit only likes to keep track of the calories that the Fitbit can track which if that’s the case you shouldn't be allowed to add an activity. Poor guy on the phone was a sweet heart but I could tell he couldn't wait to get me off the phone.

Nursing is harder to track but if I average for a few days the amount of milk my little one drinks I can guess at it. Right  now I guess I will be trying to choose an exercise close to the amount of calories that I think I might burn while pumping. Arghh

In the meantime I hope that Fitbit comes up with a soultion fast.

I want a pregnancy setting too! Recommended weight gain based on your height/weight and trimester would be huge! I keep updating my weight and watching it go up and up, and it would be nice to show that it is the correct amount gained based on where I am in my pregnancy. Also the recommended steps for where you are in the pregnancy I'm guessing would change as well? I'd really love that as a tool, I use my Fitbit religiously and really would like it to show me these stats!

Please add the nursing tool! It looks like I am over eating because I cannot enter what I burn while breastfeeding

I would love to see a pregnant mode for the FitBit app! Help adjust with safe pregnancy heart rate range, recommended water and active time, etc. it's so hard to stay active when pregnancy having clear safe goals would help!

It would be great if the nutrition system could take maternity into account for calorie counts. Doctors have pretty standardized suggestions for how many extra calories to consume during pregnancy or when nursing. It could be as simple as a setting that enumerates your due date, which would then step up calorie consumption requirements in step with that. For nursing, it could be as simple as logging it in the exercise log. It would really help keep me (and I assume other women that are prenatal/postnatal). It would give me a simple general guideline to help be know if I am overeating or undereating.
So what do you say? A quick update to maternity status wouldn't take a lot of labor to program... C'mon. Let's have it!

Last moderator update was January of 2016, do we have any sort of update on whether Fitbit will address the particular needs of this common condition in the female population using the various products?  At the moment, it doesn't really even pay attention to menstrual cycles, as the Leaf does.

I didn't really think about the "minor" changes a body goes through when pregnant until now, this time, I'm wearing my fitbit.  My average resting heartrate is up by about 5bpm, which my doc says is pretty normal.  A blood pressure drop in 2nd trimester is normal.  Sleeping like crap (thanks progesterone :P) during the first trimester is normal.  Tiny tiny things, but along with the extra calories, the challenges of getting moving or attempting to eat with morning sickness, weight gain, etc, having my Fitbit help me track *realistic* goals for a pregnant woman would be pretty lovely.  At the moment, I've gotten rid of the calorie tracker and weight tracker, since... well... frowny faces don't help the hormone levels and feelings of exhaustion.

I understand that there are some challenges to altering the programs, but it would be nice if the Fitbit could be more inclusive of us cranky preggos.  I bet our spouses would thank you, too.

I am nursing twins and would appreciate a nursing setting which when activated, allowed you to enter this as an activity and provide your own estimate of caloric burn. The activity burn level shouldn't be set and controlled by Fitbit as of what relevance is this control to anyone other than the user. And every nursing mother is unique - heck i have to make 2l of milk every day!

Nursing and pregnant options would be SUPER FANTASTIC!! Health is important to us and we need to make sure we stay in the right amount of calories.

Women burn a lot of calories while nursing. Can it get added to exercise so we can track those calories without using 2 different apps

I am a working mom who is breastfeeding/pumping at work. I would greatly apprecate an option to refelct my increased caloric needs as well as the extra calories I burn by making milk for my child. This would allow me to meet my weightloss goals in a more accurate manor.

Nursing/Breastfeeding should be an option on your Fitbit- it directly effects your caloric intake and Calories burned.

Just setup my new charge 2 and went to toggle that I was nursing...much to my dismay I realized it was gone. So much for having an accurate picture of my caloric needs/goals. I will be returning it as it does not meet my needs. And won't recommend it to any of my friends as we are all currently in this stage of life. A feature that works for a majority of your users would be nice!

It would be great if Fitbit would be compatabale with the top pregnancy apps. This is such an important time to be healthy and with so much going on it is difficult and overwhelming to manually enter daily health information into pregnancy apps that has already been automatically recorded on Fitbit

Please add a breastfeeding option. It seems odd that this has been such an often requested feature, but it still hasn't been implemented in two years of this thread being open. This would help a lot of people, it seems. Thanks!

If fitbit could even just be customized to accommodate calorie-burning activities like breastfeeding, increased calorie intake for different trimesters based on what amount of weight should be gained, increased calorie intake for breastfeeding, maybe a customizable checklist for vitamins taken and food groups eaten in addition to calories eaten daily...any improvement would be awesome.

Dissapointed there is no option of adding breastfeeding as activity or account for it in any other way. I would for sure use fitbit more and buy it as gift to friends more often, if the breastfeeding & pregnancy option were introduced.

Hello, FitBit???? All these ladies are asking for something and we're getting radio silence?

This feature would make this app better than any other fitness tracker app on the market currently. There are an average of 200 million pregnancies a year worldwide, and even more breastfeeding mothers. Without these features that are very much requested in the 2 years this thread has been open you are making your app and devices less appealing to these women.

Also, they should have a nutritions suggestion. I personally love how I can look up the foods that I'm eating and see the information. It would be awesome if it showed the vitamins and minerals a pregnant women should have and then had a corresponding list that the nutrition information would go into. A lot of women just buy prenatals without really knowing what should be in them. This way a woman would know what she and her baby needs and how much they are getting.
