Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

As I track my menstrual cycle, I can track my most fertile days. However, as and when I fall pregnant, I can't tell the app I am. I would like it to stop predicting my next cycle at that moment, and not use that period in my cycle predictions. Due to 4 miscarriages, my predicted cycle is off. Not much help when trying to conceive again...

This state of pregnant (and then ending this state whenever the birth/miscarriage is with the input of a new menstruation) could help wannabe moms like me, or actual moms after birth, to keep track of their cycle. Miscarriages are more common than you think, and especially then the predicted fertillity would be a big plus for me (and hopefully others).

I stopped using the Female Settings option because I'm pregnant. I'd like to suggest a pregnancy setting with insights because staying active and sleep while pregnant are significantly different than when you are not.

With the female health settings, adding a pregnancy should be an option. It's disheartening to constantly see a negative view of my weight, bmi, and heart tracker that's actually awesome for my pregnancy but terrible if you don't realize I am 35 weeks pregnant. This option would help adjust those things to positively encourage me rather than harp on my weight gain which has been normal and healthy.

I just logged on here to leave this exact same comment!  I’m a fitness instructor and my fitness score just keeps dropping and it IS depressing!! I’m about to teach a class at 34 weeks and I’m in poor fitness? Your heat rate changes A LOT in pregnancy as well as weight, calories, water intake.  A setting would be ideal.  Thanks @Jgrace22 for this suggestion!!

On the next update can you add a comment box so we can add notes as to why you've not met targets? This week I have a sprained knee but in months to come I won't remember why I seemed so "lazy". Just for own recordsSmiley Happy/memory

Dear @Fitbit please consider updating your app to be more inclusive of pregnant women. If you take a look at the communities, you have quite a large number of pregnant women who invest in your devices and subscribe to your app. Logging my weight gain without context is not ideal amongst other issues. I shared this on twitter as well.

I agree! The calorie goal should also adjust when "pregnant" option is selected. It is a bit disappointing that there are multiple threads suggesting this already (having a quick look I could find at least 2, both with 1,500+ votes) and no follow up from Fitbit. The posts have been up for a while too. I was surprised to see it wasn't a feature already when I recently got my Fitbit.

I agree but not just in the activity/food tracker. I tracked my cycles through Fitbit too and now that I am pregnant I had to quit using that feature because it was reminding me when I should have my period... I disabled the cycle tracker.

I agree! You should definitely be able to have the "pregnant" option in Female Health menu to automatically adjust the calendar accordingly (i.e. no period notifications or fertile windows etc). It seems like a no-brainer to me when comes to something called "Female Health" to include pregnancy!

Ps. Hope your pregnancy is going well 🙂

It would be amazing to have a feature that lets you change to a "pregnancy" mode. We all know pregnant women need more water, need lighter exercise, and have concerns with blood pressure. Options tailored to this would be so great.

Hey Fitbit!! I know this is a bit out of the norm. From someone who uses your products and wants to get the most out of being healthy and active. I am nearing the end of my pregnancy with my second little boy. While updating my personal profile and being pregnant doesn’t leave a ton for feeling great about yourself when you look and things are telling you that you are over weight, gaining instead of losing, your activity has slowed down for a variety of reason etc.
The reason for me reaching out is what if there was a setting to help inspire the expecting mom to be while she is going through all those changes and encouraging her that she is on the right track? Some of what your FitBits already track is great info for the Dr. and how amazing and beneficial could the information be to help woman along this journey as well? Being pregnant I’ve had to slow down and increase my water intake amongst so many other things, as someone who tries to stay active it has been tough keeping up and seeing the numbers creep up on a scale. I know the numbers are going to and I am healthy for doing it. With the addition of women’s health and tracking it could also encourage someone that may be expecting. A button one could slide or a location that one could enter that triggers health info for the expecting woman, trends that will be helpful, menu items as that gets to change for months and the increase of water. I know there are quite a few pregnancy apps out there already, however most tell you about baby and what is happening with your little as he/she grows. What about mom through all of this? 🙂.

Thank you so much for listening! ~Michelle. Soon to be mom of 2 active boys.

I would love to be able to tell my Fitbit when I am pregnant, as pregnancy not only affects your sleeping routine, but it makes the female health tracker a little useless for the better part of a year or more.

In pregnancy, the resting heart rate also goes up as your body doubles in blood volume and your heart is working harder to compensate.

Taking these factors into account would help me to make sure I'm having a healthy pregnancy rather than worrying about if I'll ever recover my Cardio Fitness Score.

Can we get a pregnancy option on the app?  Then our app can be tailored towards pregnancy and account for that weight gain?

I'm someone who gets overwhelmed by loads of apps which has been a struggle lately with balancing pregnancy needs health wise and regular health needs.. having three apps to do this between (along with pregnancy brain!) just makes it more confusing. I love fitbit and it would be awesome to have options to track common symptoms, moods, just basic things like that? Some already works into the period tracker too. It would be great for the recommended calories to have a pregnancy mode too eventually.

I mean further down the line maybe even fetal development (again a basic version would still be cool).

Charlie 🙂

It's very discouraging to see the red "over calories" message when you're nursing and trying to lose weight at a healthy pace so your milk production does not go down. Its very complicated to create a nursing activity.. I was really looking forward to using my Fitbit to lose weight and gain strength while nursing but now I am considering looking for a health tracking device that INCLUDES nursing and pregnant women.. not EXCLUDES them. We are important people!
