Rearrange or customize Charge 3 & 4 apps/stats view/Today

I'd really like the ability to rearrange the built in apps on my Charge 3. The app I'll use most often is the Weather, which is on the last page! I have to swipe a bunch to get to it. The next one would be the timer app, which is on the second page. The most frustrating part is that on some of the help pages, the images show the apps in a different order! I've spent ages trying to figure out how to adjust it.

I would love to be able to reorder and also select/deselect apps that are not relevant to me. I had this on my Charge 2 and had assumed it would be standard in Charge 3.... this feels like a step back not to be able to do it and is very disappointing on such an expensive device! #fitbitfail   Please improve this FitBit!

I would also like to be able to rearrange the apps so I can see what I like first.  It would also nice to be able to remove things.

Yes please! To be able to change the order and customise which stats you want to see should be the most basic option! I just got the Charge 3 (upgraded from the 2), and this is the biggest thing I'm disappointed in! Honestly it's that much of a bother that if I'd known sooner I wouldn't have bought it at all 😞

Please do implement this. I especially do not want my period information showing up on my watch! It is a nice feature in the app but I do not need it at all times on my wrist!

I absolutely hate that I can't take weight off my list. It seems like an obvious change to make, especially with how sensitive some people are to monitoring those things. It should definitely be more like the Alta in that regard .

I am very disappointed that you removed the customize display functionality that the Charge 2 had when you "updated" the Charge 3.  Now I have to endlessly scroll when I only want to see a few of the stats.  This is a huge dealbreaker for me and honestly I think I will be sending the Charge 3 I just bought back.  It is such a pain to have to sift through everything when there are only a few things that are relevant to me.  I originally upgraded because I wanted the weather and calendar notifications but those two additions seem trivial to the frustration I have in navigating to the important items I want to see.  Please fix this missing functionality.

I agree. I would also like to have the option to choose the tiles I want to displayed on the Charge 3. I do not like having my weight, water consumption and female health tracker displayed in my Charge 3

Thanks! Sounds like since over 1000 people agree with me to bring this
feature from the charge 2 back to the charge 3 it is time for y'all to do
something!

Request: allow us to change both the left-right swipe order on the watch face and remove stats from the up-down information swipe.

Here's a review I posted of my Charge 3. I'm tempted to turn it into a blog post because the Charge 3 is a disappointment.

What a disappointment! A beginner designed the interface to this watch. This is something you'd expect from the early 2000's, not from 2019!

The ONLY reason to get this device is for its outstanding ability to track sleep. Otherwise, it is hideously overpriced, not particularly good and the firmware is very poorly designed.

Sitting for ten minutes in a subway train gave me 600 steps. You'd think Fitbit could correlate heart rate and steps to ignore phantom steps? I've seen similar complaints from drivers.

The interface is cluttered, and unlike other Fitbit watches, cannot be customized--a major disappointment given that the Charge 3 is positioned as one of Fitbit's premium devices.

You're stuck with useless pieces of info like water intake, weight and calories and can't conveniently get at things like heartrate, sleep or stopwatch and timer (with the Fitbit Charge HR you simply held down the button).

The watch faces are also all quite poorly designed. It's like someone without a sense of proportion or design was tasked with their design!

And the swipe interface is frustrating. Swipe left and right are wasted opportunities. Instead of cycling through your important apps you only get to go to one end or another. Why not cycle through?

If you don't want SLEEP TRACKING get a different device.

For example, the Mi Band 3 looks the same and does an equivalent job in ALL OTHER RESPECTS at one fifth the price with FOUR TIMES the battery life (my Mi Band can go one month between charges).

And, for the price of the Fitbit Charge 3 you can get better designed watches from name brands that track all the same stats, DO A LOT MORE and, as a bonus, look better.

If I wasn't using this to map my sleep I'd definitely have gotten myself one the equivalent priced or less expensive but better Samsung Gear watches. They have better interfaces, can do much more and look better too.

But, alas, only Fitbit seems to do sleep well and the beta promises to do more so I'll stick with Fitbit for now.

Not to mention the unbelievable syncing issues the Charge 3 has. I've owned many different Fitbits over the years and I've never had this problem. It takes more or less 20 minutes and upwards of 50 attempts to get it to sync because all it says is "Looking..." and then eventually it says "Tracker not found"! I also restart my phone and restart my Bluetooth at least twice when Fitbit has one of these 'episodes'. This doesn't happen every single time I go to sync, but it happens often enough that it's driving me nuts. I had two Fitbits with my previous phone and this is my second Fitbit with my new phone, and the Charge 3 is the only one that has issues with syncing so I know it's not the phone with the problem. I really like Fitbit and I want to continue to support you, but I just can't do that if you release devices like this with this many flaws!

Stepping Up

I've had so many Fitbit devices over the years. When I cracked the screen on my Charge2, there were rumors of a new model coming out so I waited months to replace it with the Charge3. Much to my surprise, I was going backwards in terms of options.

Things on Charge2 that didn't carry over to Charge3:

Weight is now shown on the watch face and there is no way to remove it.

Text notifications include the body of the text rather than just the contact name or number.

These seem like really simple things but took me from loving my watch to it being an annoyance. I used to wear mine every single day and now it is barely worn. Months later after many asking for the ability to customize which stats are shown, there's been no update.

I think it's safe to say that with all the input from actual users all screaming the same thing and no response from fitbit this is simply a place to vent and nothing will ever be done to correct all the deficiencies with the Charge 3.

Like many have said all they needed to do was make the charge 2 waterproof and the 3 would have been a home run instead they released a half baked upgrade that eliminated all the things people loved and have turned huge fitbit fans into frustrated consumers that won't purchase another fitbit product.

I've already sold my Charge 3 at a loss and went back to my charge 2 and will probably use it until it dies, then I'll find another option but you can bet it won't be anything by fitbit.  Good luck fitbit, you're going to need it to stay in business with this type of support.

Wow, that sums it up pretty well! I absolutely agree. I also went with
the Charge 3 for the waterproof advantage. My husband has a Charge 2 and it
is so frustrating to see how much better his is than mine - and so user
friendly.
Regarding the app issue. I never put my weight in Fitbit because I didn't
want it displayed on my watch. However, it apparently got it from link
with My Fitness Pal. To top it off, it stays stagnant and is at my highest
weight and doesn't seem to link to go down! Its crazy how poor it is!

I don’t actually believe that FitBit cares what it’s customers want in a device. The fact that I can’t remove something as deeply personal as my MENSTRUAL status is a gross violation on my privacy. And since it’s been more than 6 months with no response from FitBit besides, “Great idea! Let hear what others think!” I’m assuming they’ll never consider it. This will be my last FitBit device.

I wish you could reorder the Fitbit today screen (screen that appears when you swipe up on the Charge 3)

I wish I could put the stats that matter to me most at the top of the fibit today screen.

I also wish the date was visible there and that the stats shown were a bit more compact so that more could be displayed at a time.

Via Twitter in response to my complaint about the lack of customization Fitbit support just wrote, “This feature is not on our product roadmap”. Meaning they never intended the charge 3 to be an update to the charge 2. Deceptive advertising! They never intended to even consider adding customization or improved clock faces.

So where now? This 4-year Fitbit customer is moving on. Garmin? Apple? Any suggestions?

Juniperus

@Dvheuvel there is a setting that will give you date. It's the Charge 2 Retro face.

What I find amusing is that the default Charge 3 face is so bad. It's like Fitbit went out of their way to make the Charge 3 a mediocre product.

They seem to be copying the really ugly stacked hour and minute format that Samsung uses now for its lock screens.

Yes, Yes, YES! I don't want that blasted Relax app coming up on my Fitbit Charge 3. I can't get ride of its messages to see the TIME!! WE MUST BE ABLE TO REMOVE APPS! Please 🙂

I would also like to see the ability to reorder apps and stats, and have the ability to remove unwanted stats (I don't track my water, and would prefer I didn't have a useless stat taking up space). But I did want to mention since I've seen so many people requesting the ability to remove apps, that this can be done under the apps section in the phone app. My clock face also shows a date, and many of the clock faces I see available have the option for date. So I'm not entirely sure where people got those 2 complaints from. I'd also like to point out that it does absolutely nothing to throw a tantrum over fitbit not caring about your desires for the watch. Pretty much all companies that have a way to voice feature requests take a long time to implement them and never implement all requested features.

Dvheuvel
Recovery Runner

@Juniperus yes, there are some clock faces with date, however my preferred clock face (HR stat) doesn't have a version with date.  Rather than creating multiple versions of the same face with/without date, making the date available in the today screen seems like a better solution IMO.

@LuciaFitbit My suggestion is different. I'm not asking for the apps to be reorderable, I'm asking for the today screen (i.e. the screen that shows when you swipe up) to be reorderable.  currently it's battery/steps/hourlystep/hr/distance/etc.  IMO, The priority of those elements differs depending on what clock face you use (i.e. what data is shown on the main screen).  I use something that shows HR/time only, hence I'd like to see battery/date/hourly step target as the top items on the today (swipe up) screen.
