Rowing/Stationary Rowing Machine Exercise Shortcut

Considering most of the important cardio equipment is represented in the Exercise list, I think it's more than justifiable to add a stationary rowing machine to the list. Almost every gym in America contains at least one or more Concept 2 rower as it is a total body and low impact method of Cardio. It's one of my favorites and I'm sure I am not the only user that is a bit disappointed that is not represented.

Also for the alta, it's not so different from the eliptical so it should be possible!

Can we please have a rowing machine shortcut for Fitbit Surge

I have a rowing machine at home and I would love to be able to track it without having to use the 'workout' exercise shortcut. Please add rowing machine to the available exercise shortcuts on the Blaze!

Charge HR too -- being able to convert the "steps" counted as rows would be awesome.

I would like to see an option for rowing on the blazes. This is my main form of cardio and I would like to be able to track my work out a little bit better.

Let me also add a request for Concept 2 Erg monitor data interface. One of my rowing buddies just teased me about the ease with which he collects Concept 2 data with his Garmin.

I respect FitBit's efforts to keep the UI simple, but I think this is the kind of thing that could be added to a "superuser" config screen on the web or desktop app. That way it need not clutter the UI on the mobile or wrist apps.

I was referred here by your Twitter moderator but I am discouraged to see how long people have been asking for the rowing option to be added to the fitbit without positive results. I just upgraded from the Charge HR to the Blaze and the option to log specific exercises was one of the features that sold me. I did not check first to see if rowing was included and probably would have waited if I had found that it isn't. I have a concept 2 rower and it is my primary cardio. Unlike others here, I feel I do get an accurate HR reading but I am certain the calorie burn is incorrect.

I'm in the same position as Eeyorefan, upgrading from my Chare HR (which you just replaced, thanks again!) with a Blaze. I did look for a list of activites the Blaze would track, but I couldn't find it. I was hoping it would have rowing, although it wasn't a deciding factor. Its a great device, but as many others have said it could only get better if you added a rowing machine exercise. Your arms make a consistent movement like an on an eliptical or treadmill, so would it be possible to track the motion? That could also be used to record the strokes/minute rate, which would be nice to display on a graph like your other statistics. I'm not sure if you could calculate any other measure, but I'd be fine entering the distance and splits afterwards on my phone.

For anybody insterested, the list of workouts on the Blaze (simply because I mentioned not finding it elsewhere) as from my iPhone app: Hike, Spinning, Yoga, Bootcamp, Circuit Training, Golf, Kickboxing, Martial Arts, Pilates, Stairclimber, Tennis, and Walk.

It would be great if calender notifications too is added to the FItbit Surge, so that this great tracker becomes even better. And also the option to clear notifications from the tracker would be cool.

I have the fitbit surge. I would love to see rowing/row machine added as an exercise. Something to consider?

Agreed! ( I have a surge). I even tried to use it under workout but it wasn't giving me realistic calorie burn. I really hope they add it in.

Fitbit Dashboard allows you to log "Rowing" and "Rowing machine" in your logged exercises. This can be found in the activity section @BradN. Could you tell me if this what you're looking for? or let me know where do you want to see this?

I just changed from Garmin to Fitbit due to a phone pairing issue, and am very disapointed in Fitbits lack of urgency in fixing issues their customers have.  High $$$$$, High End device that don't track a very common workout (rowing) and a non replacable band.  Should have waited for the Garmin/ Blackberry issue to get corrected.  Sure wouldn't be as long as these threads have been going on.

I'm just looking for a workout that can track the equivalent of a rowing machine, when I wear my tracker (Surge HR) it counts the machine as steps and obviously while I'm rowing I'm not carrying out any steps.

I've seen it suggested a few times in previous years but nothing seems to have happened.

Hi,
It would be great if this didn¹t have to be entered manually every time.
Wish it would just show up on my Surge. Is that possible?
Thanks!

Hello,

Stationary cycling and rowing machines should be added as available forms of workouts.

Thanks

Yes! I'd love to put rowing in my exercise shortcuts on my surge and track from the start... It's a bit disappointing to have to use the generic 'workout' option or having to manually log every time I get in the rowing machine 😕

Can we have rowing or rowing machine added as an exercise we can add to the shortcuts on the surge? It is a bit frustrating having to manually log the workout afterwards or having to use the generic 'workout' as a shortcut...

I agree. Thank you for your input. Hopefully someone at the company will take notice. 🙂
