Silent Wake Alarm Based on Amount of Rest

What would be a great feature is to have the fitbit use the information it collects about sleep patters and for it to automatically wake you up when you have reached your goal of sleep. Or at the time of a pre-set alarm, whichever occurrs first.

For example, you set the fit bit to wake you up when it measures that you have had 7hours and 15 minutes of sleep without restlessness, not in a row but just combined. So if I went to sleep at 10:00pm but didn't actually fall asleep until 10:30pm if I had 100% sleep efficiency it would automatically wake me up at 5:45 AM. But if I had an alarm set to wake me up no matter what at 5:30AM that would still wake me.

Thought it would be a good feature to help remind me that my body doesn't always need 10hours of sleep every night and would help improve time management skills for the rest of the day!

Cheers!

Sounds like a really bad idea to me.  I can see people getting awakened when they didn't want to be awakened because they hit something incorrectly or didn't know how not to have this happen.  I can also see people not using the sleep function in fear of being awakened by mistake.

Hi Sandy, thanks for your input.

It would be as simple as setting an alarm on the fitbit, which is a current feature. It would not be automatic and you would have to choose to enable it and decide how much sleep you want. If someone did not want to use it they wouldn't have to, just like you don't have to use the "Silent Alarm" function, however I find it helpful and very user friendly. Smiley Happy

Awesome idea! We'll be sure to pass this along to the team.

This was submitted more than a year ago and I just bought a FitBit and it still doesn't have this option. I want an alarm that wakes me up after a sleep cycle is finished rather than on the time I want to be awake. I have a flexible schedule and I don't want to wake up feeling all bad in the middle of the sleep cycle.

This sould've been a 'duh' idea and shouldn't be hard to implement. I'm still under returning period of my fitbit and if no progress has been made on this, I'll return it. Jawbone has this feature on it's device.

This would combine the sleep sensor and alarm features already available to allow the option to set an alarm to go off after the wearer has been asleep for a predetermined amount of time (in hours and minutes).

Hi @AmbyJay, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to set Silent Wake Alarm Based on Amount of Rest. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, you can also vote for this request: Alarm based on set hours slept (eg. wake me up after 8 hours). I hope we receive updates soon.

Seeing this was suggested in 2014 I'm guessing its unlikely but I'd like this feature.  Often I sleep for too long.  It would be good to have a smart alarm that woke me when I had enough deep/rem sleep or by a certain time even if the goal was not met.

Great idea! You beat me to the punch. But there SHOULD be a paradigm shift in thinking about when you should be waking! It’s SO important!

Such a good idea! When I oversleep I feel groggy and terrible. But when I get the right amount of sleep I’m energized and ready for my day. I go to bed at 10 but sometimes don’t fall asleep for a while so setting a consistent alarm basically ensures that I won’t get the right amount of sleep.

This definitely needs to be a feature on all Fitbit's!
