Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

This is a problem both for HR light and the quickview feature...

Perhaps a timed ON/OFF option, day by day, or even better an option that monitor when i sleep, and then turn off, and on again in the morning.

I do tend to keep quickview and HR off completely, on my BLAZE, and that is a real shame.

But i don´t want to bother turning those things on every morning and off again every night, so the next best thing is to keep them completely turned off.

You can turn off the green LEDs by setting the HR sensor to off, but then you'll have to remember to turn them on again in the morning.

Reiterating my original post, you really do want the ability to manually turn the light off since there are times when you find yourself in an area where the light will be disruptive (i.e. In a movie theater). A clean way t chi eve this is to toggle the function with a press and hold of the button like is done with the stop watch function.

I will steer clear of the discussion of the value of an automated means through sleep detection or programmatic enable disable by time. Since in my eyes the need for a manual disable is needed irrespective of other night modes and manual is simpler to implement and regression test.

@lindsaycat:

If you see the green lights, you wear your bracelet too loose. The area of these lights should gently touch your skin so the device can read your heart rate. If it can't, sleep tracking will not work as accurate as it could do. And then, wearing it at night is not necessary 😉

The problem is not the green light, is the screen light

Lindsey, FitBit says it should be worn loose enough to move around on your wrist. Worn that way, at times the green LEDs are very visible in a dark room.

PacoC, just a few posts above yours someone was complaining about the green lights.

For me it is both the screen, and the green HR light that is a problem at night.

If the option is implemented, it could be a choise of screen, HR, or both...

And on top of that why not give the opportunity to turn off the Bluetooth when in sleep/night mode, who needs a Bluetooth beacon when asleep.
I agree as well that there should be a way to manually turn this mode on/off immediately on the device. It is ridiculous to have your wrist blinding your neighbors each time you clap your hands.

@SunsetRunner If I wear the tracker any tighter, it imprints my skin and becomes uncomfortable!  Even with it tighter, though, you can still see the lights shining in a dark room, especially if you sleep with your wrist near your face like I do.  Believe me, I tried tightening and loosening and everything in between that first night to make the lights less visible, but no matter what I tried, I could still see them blinking!

Also, even without the heart rate monitoring, the FitBit does track your movements to give you feedback on your sleep, so it's still useful to wear it at night without the green lights flashing Smiley Tongue

I totally agree the brightness is annoying when I'm trying to sleep and I move its so bright. I wish it was waterproof to.

It would be great if the screen activation when you lift your wrist automatic turned off when you are sleeping. The bright screen turning on wakes me up.

I'd also like to see a built in sleep display feature. Im currently turning off quick display before bed and turning it back on in the morning. It would be great to see this built in as a programmable feature.

Wow...over 200 comments and almost 2000 "likes" for this feature since September and it still hasn't been implemented yet? Wazzup FITBIT?

Fitbit pays no attention to votes on this forum.  This forum is the equivalent of the thermostat on the wall of your office:  It doesn't actually do anything, but it makes you feel better because you think you have some input.

+1 for me... this is really annoying in night and very useful (to check time) in the day.

Add a setting so the display can be turn off much like the reminders to move.  Something that is adjustable for a time period like 10pm to 6am display off that can be set by user to extend battery life and eliminate the display illuminating at night during sleep.

Strongly agree this would be a GREAT update!

I agree the display on the Charge 2 is very bright at night. A quick way to disable quickview at night would be good. Perhaps there could be an on/off option added to the device menu (similar to the alarm on/off)

Another vote for scheduling quick view via the app. The screen is quite bright in the middle of the night!

Checking in.

No progress?

We should keep voting. More and more so.

Discovered after turning off Quickview, you have to activate it by flipping your wrist a couple of times or it won't work.

100% agree.  I've been asking Fitbit the same thing in my thread here:

Please vote here too.  Seems like your post was reviewed by Fitbit over a year ago.  I want them to add this feature for the Charge 2.
