Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

Even if you switch it off to manual, tap to wake can't be shut off. So if I
accidentally hit the watch at night the room becomes a light house

My watch is too bright when I am sleeping.  I am restless and my hand is near my face.  The watch face turns on and the bright light wakes me up.  I know that I can manually go in and change the brightness of the screen, however, I don't always remember.  I think it would be great to be able to set up the watch to automatically turn off for "bedtime hours."  You could just have that in the settings through the app to apply one time.

Your suggestion might make more sense if we knew what tracker you are talking about.

Hello @Fireproofwoman, thank you for sharing your idea with us! This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is under consideration.

This is about the 3rd or 4th time you have 'moved' this - why not just FIX
the issue vs. shuffling the complaint around !!!!!!!!

Yes yes yes. There should be a function to BOTH schedule times when it's asleep unless you push the side button or to turn of indefinitely (say at a movie or whatever). Likewise, as I posted on another request feature, one of the options should be to stay on. So really

- sleep mode

- on mode

- auto mode (what it is now, but length of time it automatically turns on should adjustable)

Well, I see nothing new under the sun at FitBit. This issue has gone on since at least the 2+ years that I have had Charge 2. So I won’t bother upgrading to Charge 3.

You’d have to read hundreds of pages before you see where I first came in on the discussion.

The end runs that I have tried:

Cut the toe off of a sock I don’t care about and use it like a wristband to cover up the face of my C2

Or in the settings, if I remember to do this before I shut off phone for the night, I scroll down to “Quick View”, toggle it off; and then scroll oh down from there to do another “Sync now” - sometimes have to do it 3-4 times before it finally syncs with Quick View off; and then at night if I want to see the time, I have to push the button.

Hope that helps!

FYI - After doing some digging through these forums, it looks like:

  • If this ever actually does get implemented it will only be on "Ionic and Future Devices" - I don't know where the Charge 2 falls in that category.
  • They don't feel it's prudent to disable Tap to Wake... even though it would at least be a bandaid for this problem.

I just got a new Fitbit charge 3 after promising my wife that the light wouldn't come on in her face in the middle of the night.  I had thought the new touchscreen would help prevent the double tap to wake from activating unintentionally. I have not tried it overnight yet so I remain hopeful that the dim brightness setting will help. but I really do wish double tap to wake could be disabled. if she complains I will have to send this back. it's too bad because this is a pretty nice device.

I realise I can dim the display by going to settings on my Charge 3, but what would be handy would be a setting in the app where the display automatically dims between a range of hours - like Night Shift on Mac OS.

That way, I can keep the display bright during the day, and then it would automatically dim during the hours that I set.

I'm disappointed to realize that Fitbit has known about this annoying issue for 3 years and has done nothing to change it in future upgrades and new product. Literally every sleep "awakening" is due to this ridiculous bright light jarring me awake. It does not just affect me, however, it also awakens my husband. Who bought it for me. And who is now ready to return it. This is ridiculous that there is no solution.

I have a new Charge 3 for Christmas, and I like its simplicity and size.  However, it has a similar issue of fitbits that I have had in the past: they automatically light up the display whenever I shake or raise my wrist (even if that feature is disabled).  This becomes a problem at night because it will light up whenever I move.  It's a big problem because my wife complains.

What I would like to see is a feature where I can set a start time and stop time when it will simply not display unless I touch the sides (or push a button on the models that have buttons).  I wouldn't think that it is a large feature, and it will help save one man's marriage.

Might another approach be to fix the problem you've described, where the display lights up when you move your wrist despite that feature being disabled?

I have experienced this problem with both the Charge 2 and 3. "Disabling" screen wake greatly reduces the frequency of screen wake but doesn't actually disable it!

Brightness should automatically change to "dim" during target sleep schedule hours, then revert back to prior settings after wake up time, or alarm goes off.

Charge 3 has an 'Auto' setting that essentially does that.

Not really, auto makes it bright when its dark, and dark when its bright. Since I keep it in auto I want it to automatically change it to dim during the sleeping hours we set in the app, automatically. That way I dont have to manually go back and forth changing the brightness when Im trying to sleep.

Amoney- I complete agree with you. I just spent 30 minutes on chat with 2 different reps with no luck. Auto needs to completely dim not just down one degree from bright. It woke me multiple times last night (just bought it).

I completely agree with you. The "auto" brightness feature on the Charge 3 is broken, so I also get annoyed having to change the brightness to dim at night time and then back to normal again in the morning.

Hello @amoney805.

It's great to see users making suggestions!

Let's see what other users think about it.

The suggestion as written is good, but if that is hard to implement, how about just a way to turn it off manually?  Some forum posts say you can do it, but my charge 3 doesn't seem to have that setting.

I agree as well ... and I think it should auto dim when the battery is at 10% or less...

Please add to charge 3! I've been given one for my birthday, i love it, but it's very disturbing at night to have it light up. Especially as I get up with my baby  which wakes us both up more than we need to. Please allow this to turn off when sleep is detected (or at set times). Thank you

Are you kidding me? My new fitbit tracks my sleep nicely and is even kind enough to tell me that I've been awake during the night due to a notification received on the fitbit!!!

This is ridiculous - my android phone has quiet time, my pebble used to honour it. Why on earth does my fitbit not - I don;t want to have to remember to turn off notifications every night or bluetooth?

It is totally against everything sleep tracking is for

Like the ability to automatically turn off quick view during sleeping hours so it doesn’t come on in the middle of the night and wake you up
