Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

Depending on the tracker model, you can always manually put it in sleep mode.  Traditionally this also doubles as activity mode:

  1. Press and hold the button until you see the stopwatch when you enter bed.
  2. Press and hold when you get out of bed.

Sync your tracker.  You should see a sleep log entered for that time.  I believe the display stays off when you move in that mode, so it shouldn't disturb your husband's sleep.

And I believe that the Charge is one of the trackers that supports this mode.

It would be ideal to have a night mode where any Fitbit (specifically Alta in my case) does not turn on the screen or buzz at night time, with the exception of silent alarms. I have had my sleep disturbed too many times with bright lights flashing in my face!

Hey! I think that'd be a wonderful idea and I'd use it. I've been awaken by the quick view when sleeping as well several times.

Thanks for stopping by! Smiley Happy

It seems this is a growing popular request and it sounds logical to have the Fitbit trackers to go into night mode for it not to wake you up with the screen light during the night and with notifications. Thanks for sharing your idea!

Or have a setting for off during 'night hours' and we set the hours.

I'd love this too!  It doesn't bother me sleeping, but it does driving at night.  I'd love to be able to dim it a bit.  I live in an area with lots of curvy windy roads - I'm constantly setting off the time display.

Why is this so difficult for you guys to implement? Do you have like 1 programmer? Here's a hint:

if(mode = sleep)

then

quick view = off

else

quick view = on

)

Glad you aren't working on it as quick view would never work! Setting mode to be sleep in the if isn't a good idea!... Think you actually mean if(mode == sleep) but we get the idea 😉

Each.day before going sleep I have to disable notifications and screen on by rotation.
I do think is very useful to add an option to define a bedtime, during which screen and notifications will be disabled.

Hi ! I'm using the really cool fitbit charge HR.
I've turn up the fonction to show the hour when i moove my wrist.
It's very useful when i do some exercises or at work.
But during the night, when i'm mooving in my bed, it's not enjoyable to see the light turning on in the dark.
So i want to propose you to create a new fonction on the app to temporarily desactivate the automatic turn on during à periode that the user can choose (like 11:30pm to 5:30am)
Whit that, the confort of use would Be optimal !
(Sorry for my english, i'm just a young french trying to increase the possibilities of fitbit watches)
Thanks !

Night mode would be great. Save battery by going into night mode, user definable, during night mode you would need to press a buttons to get time.

Can't believe this still isn't implemented. Such an easy fix yet years later and it's still an issue.

Great idea @Jeanvaljean2! I think it could be a very good idea to adjust the brightness of the Blaze.

Night mode would be great

To make this work, I would suggest using kind of the same layout you have for "Reminders to Move" on the Alta (which is also LACKING on the Blaze by the way).

Night mode could be preset by the user. Select the days of the week and the usual hours you go to sleep and it will kick in automatically. Night mode would comprise turning off quick view and notifications.

Or, a long press on one of the existing physical buttons on the Blaze. For example, if you long-press the top right button it goes into night mode. And how do you disable night mode? It's a watch right? Have it disable itself automatically at a specific hour (6am, 7am or customizable)...

I agree with those posting about a night mode. It makes perfect sense.

I am a police officer and and would like to suggest getting rid of the green flashing lights on the back side of the watch. It is an officer safety issue and I would like to not have to take my watch off in the fear of being spotted due to the green flashing lights on my Surge...would suggest making a Tactical watch for all the police officers were their Fit Bit

My current (less than ideal) solution for this, on my Fitbit Blaze, is the swipe over to "Settings" on the Fitbit, then change Brightness to "Auto" before bed (this allows it to get even more dim than the "Dim" mode). When I wake up in the morning, I go back to settings and change Brightness to "Max" (the "Auto" setting takes far too long in outdoor lighting to get up to the proper brightness).

My ideal solution would be to have a setting, either in the app or on the device, for "Nighttime Mode" hours. I could then set it, between the hours of 9pm and 6am, to automatically change to "Auto" brightness and/or to disable Quick View. At 6am, it would automatically switch back to "Max" brightness and/or reenable Quick View.

Yes agreed on the night mode! Predefined hours that require a button press to light up the display would be perfect. Kind of surprised this wasn't thought of already. It is my main complaint with my Fitbit by far. Everything else is great!

A time view such as the one found for notification to move would be just as good even if automatic detection is not possible.

I like being able to just raise my wrist to see the time but when I'm going to sleep it's annoying when it turns on if I roll over or something. It'd be nice to be able to turn it off at a certain time.

Also, it'd be good to show something during normal use (e.g. The clock) and then something else during exercise (e.g. Heart rate)

I suggest turning off the quick view on the Alta when it recognises that you are asleep.
Failing that have a night mode that can be set up via a schedule where their are option for the quick view to be disabled, the brightness to be dimmed and Notifications to be disabled.

+1 for this feature.

I agree an easier option would be to set fixed hours to disable quick view and notifications.

Gets my vote, much needed feature.

This type of option for the Alta would be great!
