Waterproof trackers

I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When??  Please make this your next release!!!!!

The Garmin doesn't link to as many things as the FitBit does. The FitBit
is by far the best exercise tracking device but I really needed the
waterproof for swimming. I miss the FitBit app but I love being able to
track swimming in real time. I got the Garmin Vivoactive. It's good
about helping you set goals to get better. It actually sets them for
you. So far I'm happy with it. I purchased a re furbished one on Amazon
to get a price break and haven't had any problems at all.

Also I don't understand the issue with the altimeter, I have a number of watches with altimeter function that are waterproof, if Tissot and Co can achieve it then I'm sure Fitbit can.

Kind Regards

While I appreciate what you're saying I do have a couple of thoughts. That type of altimeter is inherently open. That's the part that doesn't water proof. It really has nothing to do with the charging mechanism. My dive computer charges just fine with a cable, and I've worn that down 120 feet under water. Next, swimming and stair climbing is not a typical combination. Not like say running, swimming, and biking aka Triathlon. I doubt it would be a good business decision to cater to what is essentially a one-off by putting in an entirely different, bulkier, and *costlier* altimeter design. On the other hand you would at least have the option of having both by owning two. For the rest of us there is no option. Finally, using an altimeter to count stair steps is incredibly inaccurate to begin with. This morning my Charge told me I had climbed 35 steps. I went exactly four down from my porch and four up. inaccurate by over a factor of three. It doesn't know if you're on an escalator, in an elevator, or just walked into a commercial building (they're all pressurized). Frankly I don't know why they even bothered to include it in the first place. You'd be much better off just starting an activity timer and counting steps.

Many of the competing devices are doing multi sports including swimming lengths, distance and stroke numbers. Let's go waterproof and start measuring the swim as well as walks, and runs.👍🏼

My Charge HR said I climbed over 75 floors yesterday. Nope. Just a weather front.

I'd gladly give up the useless stair climb feature for a real water-proof (100 meter rating) Charge HR.

A waterproof Fitbit is really needed. So many swimmers out here and we want to track our efforts in the pool.

Hi I have the Charge HR but would love to see a waterproof model as I'm about to be entering a job where I will spend a lot of time in the pool and don't want to change from my Fitbit.

I have a surge an love the product also just bought fitbit shares for cheap:) my concern is that I run multiple spartan races throughout the year and speaking for a lot of the comepetors the ability to wear a sports tracker like the surge on those races is a must. I would be glad to give anymore feedback if needed.

Yes please, to have a Surge and not be able to use it for all sports is daft!! I have to keep changing to a heart rate monitor and waterproof watch when I swim, would love to use my Surge.

FITBIT PRODUCT TEAM TAKE NOTE! Someday your customers will stop switching devices when they swim and just move to a device that will accommodate their ENTIRE active lifestyle. Offering a version of Blaze tracker that swimmers can use would be an excellent start!

Garmin Vivosmart HR does everything the charge hr does and it's waterproof. Moving to Garmin!!!

She should - just read some info about the Garmin Vivo smart HR. You're right - does everything Fitbit HR does, including tracking stairs climbed, and is waterproof. Clearly this can all be done - Fitbit if you lose your loyal customers to a competitor who delivers the features we've been asking for, for quite some time, you can't blame us. The introduction of Blaze without addressing the ability to use it for swimming was telling your customers "we will build what we want and not what you have told us you needed to continue to be loyal to Fitbit".

Hello everyone,

The newest Fitbit to come out, Alta, should be waterproofed. The newest features in this device are matching some of the competitors, but it would be a better option in comparision if it was waterproof. It would be sad to have to try a new platform and lose the information I have from Fitbit. I know I don't want to start over with having over a year of information.

The company Waterfi does waterproof the Flex, which is great. But, I don't want to send my Flex away for two weeks. Also, I don't want to spend the additional money when I am planning to upgrade as soon as Fitbit offers a newer waterproofed device. There is no guarantee Waterfi will be providing a waterproof Alta or the servicing for it.

Fitbit, please consider implementing a fully waterproofed device or working with Waterfi to waterproof the existing products that can be (Alta, One, Zip...). I know I will be appreciative and purchase an Alta if waterproofed.

Thank you!

Amanda

When does Fitbit plan on making a tracker that is waterproof and still tracks heart rate? Would like it to be waterproof for showering, dishes, swimming and summer activites.

I'm hoping for something too.  Since we can have more than one device attached to our accounts, maybe a device desgned just for swimming/water aerobics?

I have a charge hr and love it but would like to see fitbit make a similar one that is waterproof.  I find as we get older it is much easier on our body to do deep water aerobics as it is kinder to our joints.  Please please please develop a waterproof tracker.

Garmin now has one in their vivosmart hr

Yes I go swimming often and when I do I don't get credit on my Fitbit for all the calories I burned while in the pool and I can't get an accurate measurement on my activity. If Fitbit ever introduced a waterproof fitness tracker then I would definitely be running to the store to purchase it right away.

I totally agree. I go running, biking and training in the gym. Sadly, when I go swimming I cannot count both my activity and heart rate. I fear I will have to buy a device only for swimming, but I don't like it, because I am really in love with my Surge.

The problem is the barometric altimeter that fitbits use to calculate floors climbed. The altimeter uses atomospheric pressure to detect elevation changes and this requires a small hole in the tracker. You can find this hole around the bottom edge of the tracker. Because of this hole, they can't rate the trackers as waterproof since water pressure or the force of swimming could force water into that hole and cause water damage.

I wouldn't expect to see a waterproof tracker unless they either make a standalone swimming tracker or get rid of the altimeter.

If that's the case with the altimeter perhaps a plastic case can be made to snap on and cover it during swimming times?  I'd be into that.  It can be sold as a separate accessory for just people who want to swim.
