I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When?? Please make this your next release!!!!!
I have a Charge HR and it is considered splash resistant (not allowed to shower with or submerge in water). My concern is while Charge HR 101 tells me to clean it with a mild soap, how am I supposed to remove the soap? And when I use water, how am I supposed to avoid writing the sensors and the charging port?
Yes! A waterproof version would be awesome. When you have planter fasciitis sometimes you need an alternative!!! I use the One in a ziplock clipped to my bathing suit strap to walk/jog in the pool, so a case for the One would be useful.
I want a swim-proof anklet. You can forget display. I can look at it on app. Often I can not ware bracelet or watch at work or sit for a long time and moving arms. The numbers Fitbit get does not reflect my activities. I swim often. Ideally it would be great if it can monitor my swimming. Or you can creat Fitbit zip wrap or holder for ankle and it would make the zip water proof.
I have a fitbit charge. It has been wonderful. however, it recently got condensation inside the face of it. Is there any thing I should do? I love my fitbit, but am very sad that it is like this now. Please advise.... brokenhearted fitbit owner....help...:) Thanks, Jamissa Lawson jmsslwsn@yahoo.com
I am pretty sure you cannot disassemble it and let the water out. But if the water got in some way, it must have a path for the water to get out. I have a thing in my kitchen for drying fruit and meat. It is basically a light bulb in a plastic box. The temperature never gets over 100 degrees.
Actually now I think about it, it is really hot outside. Can you put it in the sun, face down, for a while and see if it dries out? If you are inside, it is not likely to get hot enough, long enough, to drive the water back out. Think about it. If it were me I would try sunlight first and check it often. If is seemed to be getting too hot in direct sunlight, I would put a piece of paper or cloth over it. Just keep it pretty warm.

If it still works and you can read what it says, keep it.
If you did not drop it in the water and it happened because of fitbit, return it.
If you accidently wore it under water, and you can't use it like it is, buy a new one.
Maybe someone else can think of something different. I would not recommend getting one of those tiny star shaped screw drivers to remove the four screws on the back and take it apart, dry it, and put it back together, before I buy a new one.
I thought this item was water proof. However, I did not drop it or submerge it in water. I can still read it but after my daughter in law paying so much money for this, I would think that it is not "suppose" to get condensation in it. What if I would like to swim at the ywca this winter? should I not log that exercise because it is not water proof? I felt as if you response was a little smart - ellic. I am just asking a question. I am just going to call the number you gave me. E-mails are so in-personal and you can not tell if a person is really being a wise guy. If I was to return it and get a new one, I would have to pay for shipping and after the money put into this, I would be out even more, plus the hassle of waiting for a new one. I need to get a daily log to get points on my Humana so my price on my insurance does not go up. I love the fitbit and I think it is worth the money if it will be the way it is suppose to be. I apologize if I sounded incompassionate. It is one of those situations so painful you have to laugh, before you cry. I had to ask for a new Charge HR, it was giving weird heart rate results. I called and they were fairly nice about it. It did take a week to ship, but they paid for shipping and I did not have to return the old one. It just came yesterday. They told me to take the old one to a recycling center.
Yes, I too thought a sport watch would be waterproof, but I was lucky to read a note that someone posted about the altimeter hole being a place where water can leak in. I think it is not sealed around the face either. I am sorry I could not be of more help. I can only commiserate and wish you luck.
I love my Surge, but my last one was even far from water resistant. I live in San Diego (Carlsbad) where rain is rare. I was caught in the rain a couple of weeks ago and it ruined my Surge. Thankful for my Best Buy warrenty!
The Jawbone Up 3 has an amazing smart coach, that daily gives little hints, heps and suggestions based on you personally, so if I havent eaten enough fibre and seem restless in sleep it suggestd peanut butter or almonds to raise the fibre and give the right chemicals to encourage a good sleep, everything from spinal twists and why, to "hey I notice you havent been drinking enough water, do you want to set this as a goal today?" then explains that water has a direct impact on resting heart rate and why this is so import and, all this on the tiny little app, this is why I keep the Jawbone, if fitbit had this, id definatly scrap my jawbone tracker. Also MAJOR important issue for me is that I swim and surf an awul lot, both pool and the sea, it would be vital for this charge HR of mine to have decent waterproofing please please can you just add these two tiny things, constant GPS would also be a nice feature, that way i can see where ive been and how badly I got completly lost, ha ha seriously that would be good as my other tracker Sony SWR 10 is awsome for that, so. . . . . thanks guys, this is for me the ideal tracker appart from the lack of waterproofing, smart coach and constant GPS. I know these changes will make Fitbit totally rule the market, make you guys untouchable xx
Smart coach sounds amazing. Fitbit could really benefit from things like this. There is so much information there being tracked with fitbits (especially charge hr and the surge), why not educate the user further?
P.S. Fitbit could you please add a weight gain option, not everyone is trying to lose weight. (I just looked at Jawbone's app and there's a weigh gain option)
I've heard that the technology Fitbit uses for the Charge, Charge HR and Surge means those devices cannot be waterproofed. I'd love to see a companion device that can be used for swimming and water aerobics.
The coach from Jawbone is awesome. Say if your vitamin is enough, fiber, if is poor, what this mean in your health. I bought recently a Fitbit Charge HR, but only why I think that jawbone is very fragile, I had one and stop to work in 2 months. I'm enjoying of FitBit, but, I feel miss the couch from jawbone and your tips. Whether consume fewer calories for example consume only sugar or salt.
A waterproof Fitbit device that can be used for swimming, water aerobics or hydro cycling. I have a Fitbit One & a Charge HR but neither can be used in the water. I currently put my One in a DryPak for use during water classes, but he great would it be to have a waterproof wearable Fitbit?!?
The Flex is waterproof now. [Edit - turns out it is only water resistant according to the website. Sorry for the misstatement]. Since you can link different types of trackers to your account, you could use a flex while swimming/surfing and go back to your Surge or Charge HR once back on dry land.
Someone else mentioned that the Charge HR, Surge and One are difficult to waterproof. The reason is that those models have a tiny hole used by the built in barometer to count floors. It is not impossible to waterproof a watch that also has a barometer, but it is expensive and would drive up the price (most competing watch-type products that are both waterproof and have an altimeter are around $500). Still, the water resistance for the Charge HR and Surge are pretty good (in my experience not the One, though) -- just not waterproof enough that Fitbit would be willing to warranty them if used when swimming/surfing.
As far as SmartCoach from Jawbone goes, I LOVE IT and that's why I voted for your suggestion.
I've never used the Sony SWR 10 (it won't work with iPhone), but from what I can tell from the review I just read it doesn't have GPS at all. Instead it uses your phone's GPS - which is fine, the fitbit app does that too - but when used it runs down your phone's battery very quickly. Constant GPS on the device itself would would dramatically run down the device's battery, which is why most Surge owners don't leave GPS all day.
Well that is about the most information I've ever received, thank you, extremely useful, so maybe I might attempt a shower with mine and see how goes it, trouble is I'm in the sea for hours, and all through the year, literally in the sea, winters see me with a good wetsuit which the fitbit would be covered with, but I'm very uncertain about trying fitbit in the sea, have you heard of anyone that did this successfully? I can't really afford another device as I have the up3 by jawbone, running out of wrist space here ha ha
I love my fitbit hr but would love a fitbit that is waterproof. I know that up untill recently the ultra was supose to be but the wording on the website has changed. At the moment the only other cometitor i can see is the basic peak. But again thats not got a swim function on it
My girlfriend just went swimming with the Charge HR and it still works fine. I don't want to risk damaging my Charge HR so I have not tried showering or swimming. Check out Rikardokiss's video above.
I'd like to see a submersible one too. I love that I can wear the Flex in the shower, but one with more features than the Flex that is waterproof too would be great.
I disagree that having an altimeter and waterproofing aren't compatible. Casio makes a lot of G-Shock watches that are both waterproof and have altimeter.
