I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When?? Please make this your next release!!!!!
I love my fitbit. I have even accidentally wahed it and dried it in the dryer and it still works. I would really like to see a swimming capable fit bit. Tried Speedo Shine and it was very user unfriendly and I returned it. If fitbit could make a swim bit it would be awesome.
I love my FitBit (I even bought stock when the IPO came out) but am nearing a decision to switch to Garmin or any other device maker solely because I am an avid swimmer and loose out on tracking all my water activities (lap swimming, water aerobics, water volleyball). I need a waterproof device. With all the various devices you have, why can't you make one that is specifically for swimming/kayaking/surfing/sailing? No altimeter or chest strap needed - just waterproof for any type of water sport. It seems FitBit has forgotten about the huge population of water lovers and is missing the "boat" (pun intended) for this customer base! I'm not buying your comments about the pinhole for the altimeter - I'll bet you've got an engineer at FitBit who can address this issue. (If FitBit really wants to fix this deficiency.)
I would love to see a Surge that also tracks swimming laps. This is the last feature that is keeping me from moving my entire fitness ecosystem to Fitbit. Indoor rowing tracking would be a nice to have as well. Also keep in mind that technology exists to include an altimeter in a waterproof device. Take a look at the Garmin Fenix 2 or 3. I use it for my runs and swims and pull the data into Fitbit via Fitdatasync. Unfortunately, the Garmin iOS app is horrible.
Im a Personal Trainer and Health Coach I LOVE Fitbit (Ive had a Flex and now a Charge) and promote them to all my clients, but sadly as I work with a lot of rehab clients who cant use them in the place they would be most beneficial... in the pool! I also have aspergers and am VERY forgetful I have had to jump out of the shower or pool very quickly and try off my charge because Ive forgotten I have it on. I also do a lot of water activities such as swimming, kayaking etc and would love to be able to track these without having to add them manually...as would many of my clients - a lot of my clients have told me they wont get one BECAUSE they are not waterproof and are instead opting for other brands who have jumped on the waterproofing as something important to those who workout in places other than a gym. C'Mon Fitbit... you have a leading brand of Fitness Tracker... dont let that slip by NOT adding a waterproof feature... Id buy a new tracker TOMORROW if it was waterproof...even though I have a brand new replacement Charge I got just this week, thats how important waterproofihng is to me!
Make the watch waterproof and swimmable. This could be the first swimmable heart tracking wearable. Even if the heart rate is not accurate while swimming this would still be acceptable. Add swim algorithm that can track laps and distance.
I am a sign language interpreter and my hands are constantly going. I have had co-workers purchase various wrist type trackers (most of them Flex a few Surge) only to be frustrated with the lack of accuracy due to our "hands up" time. This would also hold true for the Deaf community. I think it would be of benefit to anyone in nursing positions as well where they might have additional hand movement related to hanging IV bags and taking vitals. Really, for anyone with a job with a lot of hand movement!
It would be amazing if you would make a Fitbit One (close to the body) that incorporates the heart rate technology. Many of us women tend to wear the Fitbit One on our bras, but men could attach it to their shorts.
Since I am dreaming of a perfect Fitbit world, if you could also make it waterproof, so I can wear it in my swimsuit, that would be awesome too!!!
When you DO make this, would you please send me a test model to show off to my friends! They don't think you will listen!
WATERPROOF for swimming and other complete immersion. Senikors work out in the pool a LOT as well, to save the bones, and must log it all for their doctors. I enter mine manually afterward, but waterproofing would be so much better. I love the help from Fitbit and Aria scale - what a team !
I have worn my surge while swimming to track my hr and have not had any issues? Didn't bother to see what it showed for distance traveled so can't comment on that but he tracking seemed to work OK.
I'd really love a waterproof Fitbit so I can wear it during obstacle races. Also I recently saw a competing product that is not only waterproof but corrects your form.
I understand that the fitbit cant be used for swimming because the tiny hole for the altimeter is a weak point. But can you please, PLEASE PLEASE Consider making a device JUST LIKE the fitibit Charge HR WITHOUT the altimeter, just for swimmers?
Just call it the Swim HR or something, No altimeter, made for swimmers! Should not be difficult to make that 5 ATM at least. I already have two fitbits one Surge and one Charge HR which I modified to plug the altimeter hole. While that worked, and I enjoyed tracking the heart rate while simming for a few sessions, it recently just died (I guess I didn't patch the hole as well as I thought I had since ther was evidence of water inside the unit after failure). This is the second Charge HR I fail to patch. I am now considering buying a third Charge HR and epoxy the altimeter hole (instead of hot glue) but then I thought it would be SO MUCH BETTER if you guys just made that a product.
Clearly, judging from all the comments on this post, I am not the only one who wants a HR monitor while swimming compatible with the fitbit line.
PLEASE CONSIDER making a Swim HR version, no altimeter. we're swimming, no elevation or drop.
Oh and since we're requesting features, Please make the heart-rate data available to CSV. I understand there are lots of legal matters, just put a bunch of disclaimers but let us access the raw data (or interpolated version of it).
A full featured Fitbit with swimming measurement capability would be my dream. Speedo just released a version and the Fitbit wouldn't have to be that advanced. Something that would help me track my progress and perhaps integrate it with the step counter would be great. I am so darn competitive with my friends, but always end up losing since they continue to run/walk while I swim.
Yesterday, I was ranked 3rd among my 4 friends, even though I swam 2 miles in 84 minutes.
I will just wait for fitbit - I love my speedo suits and cap etc....but for a tracker, for now I will cope with beloved FitBit because of the way it syncs so easily with my aria scale ...in my case, all that is involved is taking half an hour every week or so to manually enter my activities in the water and OUT of my fitbit.
Your goals sound great and I thank you for letting me know about the Speedo tracker.
I would love a Swim HR or any fitbit. I swim every day and need something that tracks laps and HR. I know how much time I swim, but each day, the laps and distance can be different. I don't do a variety of workouts so I would like something to track my swim workouts.
Fitbit is now a major competitor in the fitness tracking market. I love mine. However, we need to encourage Fitbit to track swimming too. Even Apple has it on their product roadmap and fitness is not even their specialty. For now I guess I will have to switch as Fitbit says that this is not in their product roadmap and they more customers to say they want a waterproof tracker. Please encourage this post as much as possible so thy will even consider a waterproof tracker.
This is self-explanatory. Fitbit needs to make a waterproof version for those who swim or cross train. I participated in a mud event last weekend and my dashboard said that was my least active day. Little did my Fitbit know...I jogged 5 miles and went over 13 obstacles. I'd love to upgrade to a waterproof version!
