Hi, can the ecg give false positives? Randomly did one yesterday and it said potential afib, done another 10 since all normal. No notifications either. My background is mid 40s male, relatively fit, resting pulse in the mid to late 50s.

Hello @eriphil and welcome to the Community. Any test can give you a false positive. The false positive rate for the ECG is reported to be less than 1.5%. You are supposed to be able to download and review this result with your health care provider, except that there are many posts from Android user who write that they can't download their results. No problem for iPhone users.

Thanks for your reply, I managed to get the trace out eventually. I'm no expert but the first few seconds look chaotic, I'm wondering if I was moving about. As I said I've done another 12 since then and they all show normal sinus rhythm.

@eriphil Yes, that movement can lead to the results you see. Make sure you are still and your arms are relaxed before you start.
