When will Sense 2 Google Maps be available for iOS?

I know this might be a hard question to answer but when I pre ordered my Sense 2, I was led to believe that an update was coming “soon” to allow us to use the Google Map app. Does anyone have a clue when FirBit might put out this update? I’m running on the IOS operating system.

@Sailorhudson it's already available for Android users. Nobody knows when it's going to be available for iOS users.

It’s what I’d read but can’t believe it’s taking so long to get this update to the watch so we can use it as was promised when it was first introduced. Sad!

According to data from Fitbit, it should come from early to mid this year on iOS. Although it is not true that iPhone users will not get it at all. ALL iPhone users should get it by the end of this year unless the app is not compatible (starting of the case you wouldn’t even be able to pair).

If it’s not available (I use an IPad Air 4), can I return my Sense 2 since I bought it fully expecting it to be able to use Google Maps?

Don’t get your hopes up for the Google Maps feature either, as you cannot start it from the smartwatch itself, you need your phone to start and use the navigation. So you cannot start navigation and leave but also leave your phone or tablet at your house. But do keep up with the latest news about Google Maps on iOS to see when it will be pushed out to iOS.

It's up to you, if you can wait and you want Google Maps where you have to start it from your phone, I believe you should stay. But if you don't want to wait, you should probably return it because it will come later this year. Well, at least it should...

Although, you did ask me, you should ask one of the Fitbit employees about any questions using this link: https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/home?language=en_US

If you decide to keep it, you do not need to worry about not having Google Maps compatible with you iPad Air 4. I checked in and they said it should work with iPads.

@Sailorhudson   You should read this Help article: How do I use Google Maps on my Fitbit device?  If and when it's released for iOS users, it looks like you start the navigation on your mobile device, then use the Google maps app on your Fitbit for turn-by-turn directions.  You must carry your iPad with you.  This feature won't help you if your iPad is wi-fi only.

Fitbit has a 45 day refund policy.  Other store return policies vary by the store.  If you bought your Sense 2 from Fitbit, please contact Support for a return authorization if you want to return your Sense 2.

Thanks for the information. Just about where ever I go, my IPad goes with me. I’m a substitute teacher and that’s pretty much all I take. Don’t even bother to use a phone except in emergencies. Sure hope they get this up and running soon.
Thanks again.

Probably everybody knows that Fitbit said it will come in “early” 2023. We’re almost halfway through 2023 being it our 3rd-4th month and half a year is 6 months. But the real question is WHEN exactly is it coming out?

I preordered mine with the promise that these features were coming “soon”. It’s just about the middle of April and I got my Sense 2 in September. So annoyed— I bought mine through Best Buy and they won’t take it back. It’s a piece of junk.

Technically it should work on a WiFi only iPad as Google maps does allow for offline maps. So as long as you have a big enough area download you shouldn't need cell coverage, although I haven't put this into practice.

It’s got to the point that I’ve lost faith in the promises that FitBit made to all of us. I also bought mine back in September when it first came out. I’ve come to now realize that they have our money and it’s been so long that no one will take them back and that since we already own them, we’ll there is nothing we can do about. We’re going to have to live with the fact that the update we’ve all been hoping for is never going to happen and we’re simply stuck with a device that never going to be what was “promised” to be.  Just shows you that you should never buy something that promised will do something when it’s never going to happen.

Google maps isn’t even available on the app nor the watch so there’s no way to use it with my IPad. But I can dream can’t I?

@Sailorhudson I had to log the fitbit app out/in before maps showed up.

I just keep waiting and being disappointed. My Sense 2 won’t even stay connected to my IPad. I have to reboot both numerous times a day to get them to sink up even though they are never more than about 20 feet from each other.
