Looking for support to have fitbit add a driving mode that would allow for a more accurate step count without removing the device to drive a car or ride a motorcycle ?

Accepted Solutions

If you manually log driving as an activity for the time you were driving it will remove any steps or floors from that time frame.

Get a car without a stiff suspension.

Do you know what one if the biggest gripes about the AW is? You got it, steps while driving.

I tried that on my dashboard this morning to try to remove steps from sleeping (200 (!!) on my Sense, but my Charge 2 was at 45, which is about right) and it didn't remove anything.  I have my sleep sensitivity set to normal and I'm not doing anything different than when I was wearing my Charge 2 prior to buying the Sense.  Any tips?

I just don't understand why they haven't come with with a driving mode or a pause steps button I feel like a lot of people have asked for it

That is not a valid answer after 5 years + of this being requested. It would not even be hard to do....

people have been asking for this for over 5 years and they are showing that they do not care

If they did, the next complaint we will see is. I forgot to turn driving mode off.

Please read the FAQ, fitbit has never said that every request will be added.

Have you voted

This thread is simply a discussion among fitbit users, we do not know all that goes into the decisions fitbit makes.

@Caelvain while it may not be the answer that you want, you did not ask the question, the approved answer is the only answer, we as your fellow fitbit user will have. If we want this feature added, we need to get the request active with many users posting. This will mean that we will need to advertise.

I've seen feature requests to go from 0 to thousands of votes within a few months. Only to see many complaints when the feature gets added.

That is just not true.  I manually log my workouts daily.  When I am done the workout, I end the workout.

People who are serious about measuring health metrics will remember to turn the "drive mode" off and on.

There are a lot of activities where people want to measure their health metrics (heart rate for example) but don't want to clock in steps.  I play the drums and ride a motorcycle.  Both activities add an insane amount of steps to my day which is completely inaccurate.  Horseback riding is another activity that incorrectly logs a high amount of steps.

Fitbit needs to offer an option under exercise to select "non step activity" which you can start and stop like any other activity.

This is kind of funny. This guy is asking fitbit to do something fitbit couldn't possibly do in the next twenty years. And to ask them to add a feature to their current line of useless tech, seriously, that's funny.

@aarond123 then what stops you from manually logging your driving activity?

On android, if there was a driving mode, and we forgot to turn it off. Since we can not alter the times, we need to delete and manually add the driving activity.

I often forget to turn off a walk recording.

How do you log something as driving? It's not in the list of activities.

I am confused. Some posts suggest to log drumming as driving. Other posts ask to add driving as a feature. So now I don't know if driving exists or it doesnt. Which is it?

@ruella75 people ran driving to be added to the tracker. Driving has been on the app fordpat least 10 years.

If I were to log a previous activity as driving, would it negate the steps that where counted?

On a side note, this is a very antiquated solution.  There are a lot of activities that don't involve steps, but people would still like to log their biometrics.  For example: drumming, horse back riding, motorcycling, skiing etc.  Still not sure why FITBIT does not create and exercise "type" for such activities.  Even better would be for them to let users create their own activity "type" and select whether or not that activity requires steps to be counted or not counted.

Yes, @aarond123 that is the idea, driving and motorcycle mode are for removing steps. The issue is that driving also gets recorded as am exercise.

Horseback riding is one of the activities that can be recorded. So is skiing.. Drumming is not on the list. Under the letters C, B, and S I count 65 exercises
