Hi,
I downloaded the newest firmware version and I would like to set up the Google assistant. Every time however I reach the "downloading device information" window, it results in a connection error.
I tried restarting, repairing, the usuals, but it is the same.

I forgot the mention, everything else works perfectly. I can sync from the watch to my phone, and I see notifications, so the connection in both directions seems to work.
What can I do?

For me this seems its more of a software issue. The first few steps work as they should. I added some screenshots.

You could be right. In this case this is terrible implementation and error handling on Fitbits side. There should be a message at the first steps of the setup "Sorry Google Assist is not yet available in your region.", or something similar. Not a connection error at the third step of the process.
Thank you for the info, I shall wait a bit than!

I had the same problem on my Sense and was able to fix it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the Google app on my phone. I'm also based in the US
