Fitbit Sense firmware update for battery

I received an email today telling me that is was urgent that I update my Fitbit Sense due to possible battery overheating.  I cannot get this update to install, so I am stuck with a clockface telling me I have to update.  When I try to update, the progress meter never moves and I get a big red X.

I have factory reset my Fitbit.  Cleared all data on my Fitbit app.  Readded the Sense to my Fitbit.  Rebooted my phone and the Fitbit.  Nothing seems to work.

Current firmware version is 44.128.6.17

What's the operating system on your phone. Not sure what level IPhone system is needed but for Android you need higher than a 9. I had to borrow my husband's phone. Then it worked.

I had the same problem with a Sense 2 getting a red X. After a while it totally stopped working. Of course it was out of warranty and tech help is now non-existent.

I did the firmware update after my Sense locked up on message; now, the battery drains in less than a day.  Prior to the update, my battery life was consistently 4 days.  What is Fitbit/Google doing to remedy this problem?  I see that it is a very common complaint.

Hi

Did you ever apply for your 50.00 through the company that fitbit uses?I'm in the same position. Never heard of this company and they take $5.60 of the $50.00 and if you don't use them in a year they charge 29.95 a year .

Would sure like to see if anyone has used this

I applied and got the full $50. I think those fees you saw were in an email that was sent out mistakenly. It only applies to businesses using it for payments. Not to people receiving the payments.

Did you have to give them all your personal information social security and bank account??

How long did it take to receive the $50? It's been 19 days since I applied for it.

Yes, I gave them my SSN and bank information.

Looking back at my emails, it took about 16 days to get the payment.

Oh when I did it immediately my battery life went from 6 days to 2 days. I have always had all options like calendar, texts, etc turned off. And I'm not getting accurate steps logging anymore. Pissed off.

Mine now is about 2.5 to 3 days before charging---I just need to be more on top of it now. And when I go for a walk, the Fitbit seems to add about 5,000 steps extra for my 30 min to 45 min walk at least initially. After syncing a time or two, it seems to "throw out" the extra steps and report a more realistic number. The first time it happened though, I remember thinking "how'd I get that many steps already"? Lol. I can adjust....

For the last 6-7 days, I have also seen my watch "Jump" the steps and miles upward.  After 5-20 minutes of no walking, or randomly during my walks, it will step backward to the "correct" value.  If I continue to walk, it will "Jump" forward again.  Sometimes 2 miles of extra reported walking, and then then watch says "Ha, Ha - Just joking.  Here's your real mileage!"  Very frustrating.  I do not see any jumps in calories burned though.  I hate that the watch is now lying to me.

My time between charges changed from about 5-6 days to 3-4 days.  I never had any issues with battery overheating.  And I never had any real issues with the watch firmware - until now.

Mine won’t even connect to Strava tried everything contacted Fitbit didn’t want to know. Been checking my steps after the update it’s all over the place done about 8000 steps on my normal walk was showing 13400 then it went to 9000. Im training for a marathon can’t trust this watch anymore got to carry my phone with me to get an accurate reading. Fitbit customer services are a joke. Got extended warranty on it won’t cover this fault because of the update problems.

Hi.  I think you will find these issues are a direct result of the update that was supposed to fix the overheating issue.
