Fitbit sense: Sense controls will not stay contested via Bluetooth

I have had a Fitbit sense for approximately 6 months now. I would be consider someone more on the technical side, as I’m no stranger to iOS and technology. However, this fitbit has been nothing but an endless frustration. I am actually on my second one as the first ones speaker was crackling. Both watches have had the same issues:

-sense controls will not stay connected to Bluetooth.

-limited apps available for the sense

-closing out the Fitbit app on my phone, I get zero updates on weather/find my phone etc.

-I have never been able to receive notifications for text messages.
-battery draining excessively fast, with barely any notifications, clock face has zero motion and not set to always on display.

I honestly only purchased the Fitbit sense for the battery life, as the apple watch 6 battery life is horrendous. I was lucky to get half a day out of it.

At this point, I am after doing all troubleshooting steps online, with support,  and through my own judgment, and still nothing has changed. That is even trying a new watch as well. I’m mentally exhausted with this, and extremely frustrated. $400CAD for watch that basically doesn’t do much more then the inspire as far as what I need. But more frustration, less battery life, still no messages, and poor connectivity. I’m starting to feel like a cheap digital watch is offering me just the same amount of information as this one and that should not be the case.

I’m hoping that Fitbit fixes the messaging issue for iOS users, or they will be losing a lot more customers due to the incompatibility. Also, the Bluetooth connections and background app(I don’t want to be draining my iPhone battery or mobile data while constantly needing to run the Fitbit app in order for my watch to connect (shouldn’t it do it through Bluetooth without having the app running?)

I feel there is alot of bugs in this new Fitbit watch and software. A lot of which are seemingly focused around iOS users. But all users in general. This is not a good experience for me especially after the cost of the watch and paying $15 CAD monthly for a premium membership that I have no clue what it does or what use it is to me. 😞

Sorry, the subject should say “not stay CONNECTED, not contested” autocorrect.

Hi @Candacexoxo  - if you click on the 3 dots  or box on the date line you can edit the subject and text.

The issues you raise have resolutions.

  • Sense controls don't stay on unless they are needed for calls or music controls etc.
  • there are many apps available for the Sense/Versa 3 which share the same platform
  • the Fitbit App should be set to run in background, it also has to be syncing with the watch
  • notifications needs to be working on the phone and setup correctly in the app too, if not then you won't get notifications on your watch, see How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
  • if its not syncing you won't get weather updates, but there can be issues with cities - see How to change Temperature - for Weather, Centigrade - Fahrenheit, Sense
  • the battery draining is an issue if you use all the features all the time, eliminate Snore detection and SpO2  which use about 4 days of the 6 alone - see How to resolve the Major issues causing short battery life.
  • most things work fine without premium so you can cancel it, you will still get most of the stats for the last week instead of 30 days, disable Snore detection before cancelling.
