Hi,
I got my sense today, and so far it correctly recognized two walks, but I didn't get the gps data. it seems the GPS didn't turn on
I would expect it to activate automatically when the workout is recognized as something where you'd want to measure your distance and see the map afterwards, such as walk, run, bike...
I know that when I start logging the exercise manually, the gps should turn on, as it did on my other Fitbits, but one of the reasons I bought this watch was the built in GPS and the fact, that I wouldn't have to start the exercise in the app and wait for the GPS to connect before I go.
is there some setup that I missed or is this not working?
thank you

The App says GPS will not be turned on for Auto Recognized Exercises.

On the ionic, by default when the device auto recognized exercises it did not turn on the GPS. I am not sure if there is a way to override this. I can see wanting it both ways. On one hand wanting the battery conservation of not using GPS, on the other, not wanting to have to go through the trouble of specifically turning on the exercise you are using for the sake of getting the GPS.

You would think so, but only auto detected runs are recorded by gps.
It would still require the run to be detected, then gps turned on, and then a minute to connect.

yeah, it takes ridiculous time to connect, and when it does, it looks like I was drunk when I check the map.
I will return the sense and will go back to my inspire hr, and will continue to use endomondo, since I have to start the tracking on my phone anyway.

I've used the exercise app for daily runs over the past week. The GPS doesn't start lock signal until about a half mile into the run. This is unacceptable performance. I was better off with my Charge 2 using the phone's GPS. That's not even an option here.

exactly. I already returned mine. this would just add stress to something I want to enjoy.
it's a shame tho, I was looking forward to it, and I wanted the smart wake function too.
but from what I heard, that doesn't work properly either 😄

Yes, this is one of the many long list of issues with this **ahem** sense. I waited to buy it being my first fitbit and feel ripped off and victim of fraud with the missing ECG, GPS doesn't work, Skin temp doesn't work, on and on...

I just timed it. It took over 10 minutes for the **ahem** GPS to connect... ridiculous.
