Heart rate is double true rate

Hi all,

After a swim today my Fitbit is constantly showing a heart rate of 140bpm. My true BPM is around 70bpm. My wife tried on the Fitbit and it also out by double

I have rebooted the Fitbit and even taken on a new update to no avail.  Any idea how this can be fixed?

Hi @Rivster - mine often reads double when exercising but settles to a normal rate quite quickly at rest.

First thing to do is give it a good clean - see How do I clean my Fitbit device? 

Then keep an eye on the battery level, it could be that water has got in, in which case the battery may also deplete very quickly which would be an indication that that is the problem.  If it's under warranty it may need replacing if the problem continues.

Also if it gets hot while charging, stop immediately.

Thanks the cleaning and charging fully solved it! I noticed battery was down to 50% even though I charged it yesterday so will keep an eye on it.
